I think in Proverbs it speaks of drinking of excess as being not good, I think the person who does so is called a fool, although I am not sure that would be classified as a sin. Certainly there is no Commandment that I know of readily available that would make drinking alchohol a sin.

Message: I ask because many Muslims and Christians think so when there is nothing in the Koran(Quaran) or Bible that forbids it,in fact drinking wine is mentioned several times in the Bible.
I also find it ironic that cultivating hashish and opium is ok in some Muslim countries but alcohol is strictly forbidden.
What are your thoughts?

Hashish is mentioned: this according to scripture is sorcery, from the Greek Pharmacopia form which we drive our English word pharmacy, but is't all drug taking and sorcery, and here is what scripture says:
Rev 22:14-16
14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.Rev 21:6-9. 6 And He said to me,"It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts.7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
notice that beer and wine [this guy had to much], aren't metioned here at all and as far as Noah goes, his drinking wasn't accounted as sin, but those who judged him sinned!!!!

Here is the real issue, man was made to get high on something, and that something is meant to be the Holy Spirit, so you can be full of joy and have peace so you get baptised in the Holy Spirit and speak in tongues and be called a holy roller and you will be a fisher of men also:
Now here is what scripture says about being drunk on the Holy Spirit and not drink:Eph 5:17-19. 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,
The apostles were so full of the Holy Spirit some thought they were drunk:Acts 2:13-18

13 Others mocking said, "They are full of new wine."
14 Peter's Sermon
(Joel 2:28-32)
But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, "Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words.15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day.16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
17'And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God,That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,Your young men shall see visions,Your old men shall dream dreams.18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days;

Since the Holy Spirit and his anointing teaches us all things then sin is not listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit, He talks to us all the time every second of the day, That's why you get bapised in the Holy Spirit and have evidence of it by, just as you guessed, speaking in tongues
1 John 2:26-27
.27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.
NKJV
John 16:13-15
13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.
NKJV
So it's real clear you hear from the Holy Spirit and get faith as faith comes by hearing not reading or memorizing:Rom 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing,
NKJV
You hear the Holy Spirit and then scripture must match that not the other way around!!!
John 3:5-9

5 Jesus answered, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.7 Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit."

so, what must we do? I'll tell you, speak in tongues and then

does`t it say that some shall speak in tongues some shall interprete etc. The Spirit is not always forthcoming as in the apostles going to the city and laying on of hands and they recieved of the Spirit.
And what of a congregation that pieously sits speaking in tongues and mentally making grocery lists in there heads. Not too flattering to God.

Ruthy, there are 7 different kinds of speaking in tongues mentioned in the bible, the one that strenghens the inner man is were you just speak to God in tongues uplifting him, and loving him in a language from hte heart that you don't understand with you mind, but it is the Holy Spirit speaking through you and you will or maybe called a holly roller although I've never seen or really head of anyone really rolling around.
Have a nice speaking in tongues day and this is always for you religious people I don't even drink bear, but I do speak in tongues and heal the sick and cast out demons
did I say, speak in tongues

As long as you’re having a sinfully good time I see no harm in it.
