Its a Cookie Issue, that is the 'Long & Short' of it.
It may be a "cookie issue" of some kind, but its something that has changed on the site over the last 24 hours, not on users computers. You just don't see dozens of users, some of whom (me included) have tried multiple browsers on multiple computers, suddenly have exactly the same issue at exactly the same time. After over a decade of experience in software design and troubleshooting, that just doesn't make any sense to me. SOMETHING has changed on the site recently to cause this issue.
EDIT: Deleting all site cookies does resolve the issue - temporarily. I did that, went back into the forums, in the course of reading forums probably looked at half a dozen profiles, and suddenly started getting the registration page again. Now its true that deleting the cookies AGAIN has solved the problem AGAIN - temporarily. I hope the final solution isn't going to be "delete your POF cookies every hour or so" and that the problem will be found and fixed. Definitely a cookie problem, somehow the site is not handling the cookies properly. | |

Yes I am, although I don't see what that has to do with anything at all. As I was careful to point out earlier, I was smart enough to test this using multiple browsers, from multiple computers, to determine it wasn't something on my end. Others have said the same thing. | |

Posted: 4/26/2008 5:30:43 PM | I agree with Msg 26...something has changed on the site over the past 24 hrs or so. I encountered the registatration page problem earlier today, and deleting temporary internet files did resolve that problem. However, I have noticed other, more subtle problems:
1. Inbox search age range boxes keep defaulting to values I used earlier today. These values appear to be stored on the server as they keep coming back even when I delete temporary internet files and reboot. Even tried a different computer and still got the same age range values.
2. The chemistry test search results use these same age range values (i.e. the ones that appear to be stored on the server). They cannot be altered by changing the age range values on the inbox search page as before.
3. If you view a profile, when it shows the last 11 people to check their mail within 50 miles of the user, it uses the same age range values (i.e. the ones that appear to be stored on the server) . Does not correspond to the age range entered on the inbox search page as before.
Hopefully this info will help Admin identify the proplem. | |

I’ve tried your recommendations, even though my browser was set long ago to accept cookies from here. (Running IE 7.0 with latest updates, etc.). This problem started within the past couple days – and the behavior I’m seeing is the same as everyone else is reporting here. We wish you the best in solving this asap so we can return to being happy campers. | |

I do hope that Admin is working hard to repair this situation... I can log on and veiw the incoming and mail sent pages I just cant view profiles (from my favorites and viewed me and those who emailed me) And it seems that I cant veiw profiles when I am off line too. So this leads me to believe this on the main end... Granted I am NO computer wiz, but that seems to make sense since other are dealing withthis as well.
Now if I clear things out as suggested, then I get the registration page after the 2nd profile viewed. I worry that people who may not being dealing with this might not see me as the good person I am... and it would be a shame if the friends that I made here on POF.... went POOF! | |

These are Actions that may or may not resolve these Issues for you. Although this is the World's largest Dating Site, and one would Think there would be at least 1 Admin around for a few Hours every Day, that simply isn't the Case, hence there is only so much I can do.

I am not Admin, if that was the Case, we wouldn't be talking about this right now, since inattention to such Matters is not my Nature.
You can keep repeating its on our end all you like Ticket... unfortunatly you are wrong in this case.
At no Point did I state its not at this End. Until the Admin actually sees fit to pay more Attention to this Site, I can only assist you with whatever is available I can do at this End. Most who have followed the above Directions have had no further Problems viewing Profiles on Site.
Sorry Ticket... Guessing isn't working, lol!
| Its working fine for most, just not for everybody. Try changing your Password, see if that makes any Difference, since it does for Forum Log-in. |

I knew I should have had a brownie for lunch instead. 
Today it would not even let me in to view my own profile so I did an end run around it -- I ignored the second registration page and clicked on the second option on top -- members/mail (or was it profile) I think it was. Then it worked fine. So I think its just the wrong page coming up at the wrong time and has less to do with function than we think.
For those with problems try ignoring it and clicking on only the top row of choice above it like you always do. | |

Posted: 4/27/2008 9:11:58 AM | While I agree it is not worth cncelling my account for, I am hnging in there!! I can see why some would be leaving though... it is frustrating!!!
But I did notice another thing that has oddly happened because of this glitch. People who used to appaer on my favs list and they on mine are no longer there. Now while I do know people come and go on favorites list. But how I know this isn't by our doings... is the testimonials we arote about each other are still appear wouldn't, cause when you remove someone so does the testimonial. The other reason I know they did NOT go POOF by their doing... my brother and best friend told me they are expierncing the same thing!
To the Admin: While we do appreciate you are only one person running this site out your home!! We are hanging in there and hoping this will be resolved soon!! | |
