| ADMIN: Can't view profiles - registration page appears instead of profile Posted: 5/1/2008 5:02:38 PM | | If I clear cookies I can view 3 profiles before I get the registration page. I wonder if that's a clue as to what's wrong? I think the admin mentioned somewhere that the site is set so users that aren't logged in can only view 3 profiles. Is it possible that the system doesn't see logged in users correctly? | |

Doesnt matter how many cookies you have,or history you delete.Every fourth profile goes to registration pages and you cant view your mail..Untill you log out and reboot..Your fried on the fish..Maybe the customers have out grown the server, and this is their way of making room..Or because they have pop-up ads for Dodge..

Still having the same problem... I can view 1 or 2 profiles, then the darn registration page shows up. Is admin aware of this and what is he doing or going to do to resolve this problem?

| ADMIN - Can't view profiles - registration page appears instead of profile Posted: 5/3/2008 4:32:54 PM | ONE GOOD SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS:
BLOCK the cookies from www.plentyoffish.com. The the your can search profiles and register page will not pop up after every third profile-look-at. That will work at least with FireFox browser.
HOW?
Firefox-browser
->Tools -> Options ->Privacy ->Cookies click the "Exceptions" button at the end of line after "Accept cookies"
write " www.plentyoffish.com" under the "Address of web site" click the button "BLOCK"
Then the line "www.plentyoffish.com Block" Should exists in the box under " Site" and " status"

| ADMIN - Can't view profiles - registration page appears instead of profile Posted: 5/3/2008 5:03:20 PM | ONE GOOD SOLUTION for OPERA-browser
BLOCK the cookies from www.plentyoffish.com. The the your can search profiles and register page will not pop up after every third profile-look-at. That will work at least with OPERA browser.
OPERA-browser
First remove all cookies
->Tools ->Advanced ->Cookies Select cookies to remove ->Delete
Second block the cookies from "WWW.plentyoffish.com"
->Tools ->Preferences ->Advanced ( tags in top of page) ->Cookies (left side of the page) -> Click "Manage cookies" (down of page) -> Click "Add" -> Click "General" -> Write "www.plentyoffish.com" to line after "SITE". -> Click "Cookies" -> Choose "Never Accept Cookies" -> Click "OK" ->Click "Close" -> Click "OK"
I tested and this worked well.
But remember clear all cookies BEFORE blocking cookies from www.plentyoffish.com Otherwise old cookies cause the register page pop up, and when you remove the cookies, the block cookies from www.plentyoffish.com might also be cleared. That happened to me....

| ADMIN - Can't view profiles - registration page appears instead of profile Posted: 5/10/2008 12:18:04 AM | | Clearing cookies does not work, unless you want us to clear cookies every third or fourth page view. I use FF tabs to open multiple profiles after the third or fourth I’m still prompted to register again. Clearing all data including authenticated sessions does not work either. FF used to work fine until about two weeks so something’s changed. BTW Same effect on three different PCs. | |

| ADMIN: Can't view profiles - registration page appears instead of profile Posted: 6/3/2008 11:08:54 PM | Come on, 4 pages of this problem and you are still telling users to delete cookies and temp files?
This problem is making the site unusable for at least some users.
I can tell you it is not on the user end. I'm no newb - I admin my own linux/apache box. You have a real issue here and pointing at users with a bandaid fix ain't a user friendly attitude.

| ADMIN: Can't view profiles - registration page appears instead of profile Posted: 6/4/2008 11:29:37 AM | 1) There were no browser setting changes made by me before I experienced this issue (including version updates), which points to the changes made by the site to force registration (after x views, w/o cookied DETECTED) as the culprit. 2) If the remedies linked (and I read and tried all before taking the time to post) fixed the problem a) the first time; b) at all, I'd still not bother to write. 3) If those remedies were required to simply use the site (specifically, the delete/refresh steps), that is an unusable state for a website. 4) Cookies from *.plentyoffish.com are all allowed. And I see them there. I think perhaps you are not detecting them correctly. 5) The pro-user step to take would be to reverse the aggressive registration bounce until the site could design, test and impliment a solution. 6) Again, 4 pages on this issue - that's just your users who took the time to login here and write about the problem. Your attitude regarding this matter is contrary to your claims about your ethos. And frankly, given how much you claim to be making per day off this site (I've seen you interviewed on TV), you can afford the programming help to fix this problem correctly. | |

| ADMIN: Can't view profiles - registration page appears instead of profile Posted: 6/4/2008 11:37:53 AM | A couple of additional points:
1) I must login before posting here. That is a cookie process. 2) I can login to view and respond to e-mail. That is a cookie process. 3) Thus, the browser is accepting cookies from this domain. 4) Either POF is not setting them correctly or reading them thus for this new, unique function. Remove the function until you fix your programming or database or someother mistake.

| ADMIN: Can't view profiles - registration page appears instead of profile Posted: 6/6/2008 8:20:58 AM | I would hazard a guess that the powers that may be apparently don't give two hoots about the problems being experienced here since it still exists. I have not changed any settings on my PC before or after the problem started and have no plans on doing so for one single program. As I said before, the only good thing about all of this is that I haven't paid any money. How about fixing the problem instead of expecting all the users to make changes? It's your problem. Fix it. | |

| ADMIN: Can't view profiles - registration page appears instead of profile Posted: 6/6/2008 11:29:31 AM | As a web developer i can say this with authority: The site uses two cookies to keep users logged in, one is for the forums, the other for the main site. The reason is because the administrator determined it was a good idea to make the forums a subdomain, therefore, one cookie wont span the entire forums and site, it has to be split.
With that being said, you may log into the forums, then go to your profile, and what will happen is they will ask you to login....again. Logging out of the forum, wont log you out of POF main and vice versa.
If the admin decided to remove the sub domain, and have the forums link point to a sub directory instead, this would not be a problem and he would have a single sign on system for both the forum and the main site, and most likely get rid of any cookie problems arising from this.
ive tried to recreate the problem but i am unable to, might be helpful if users reported what system and browser their on, to help troubleshoot this properly. If you dont give information on what your using, how can you expect the admin to properly test and fix it?

| The 'User Agent' shows it all, no need to ask anything or anyone. |
