& wow...Natasha, what a great idea. Going and changing your S/N but coming back with your childish attitude and 1950's attitude towards the world. We know it's you darling. Can't hide behind a new name ;)

| Is exotic dancing prostitution? Posted: 5/8/2008 5:02:09 AM | ABSOLUTELY NOT! I used to work in the adult entertainment industry (aka go-go bar). The ladies who worked there were professionals, not prostitutes. You are making a connection that is just absolutely wrong. Since I also used to work in that field and was tipped by the ladies for the music I played for them, does that make me some accessory to a "crime" being committed here?
Not only that but you seem to be a moral policeman to some extent. If you are not comfortable going to those types of establishments then fine, that is your decision. But don't denigrate the entire profession or the ladies who work in it.

again, if a child went to their parents and said they wanted to be a stripper or exotic dancer, would the parent encourage this? no they would not. And you know this... how? I've seen this go both ways. I've known dancers that are embarrassed about their profession, and would never divulge it to their parents. However, I've seen it go the other way as well. I've known dancers and pornographic actresses who's parents know, and are very supportive of, their daughter's career choice.
And still others push their kids so hard, ironically they end up turning to the "easy money". From the mouth of one of the most famous dancer & pornographers of all time: http://www.asiacarrera.com/bio2.html
I honestly do not believe we can get much more "sexually open." Don't go to Europe much do you?

| Is exotic dancing prostitution? Posted: 5/9/2008 8:39:38 AM | | I am German. Lived there for 30 years before I decided that this morally so corrupt and messed up society cannot offer a HEALTHY upbringing. So I thought here in Canada things are - thank god - 30 years behind. Now I am just finding out that it is just as bad here and basically everything goes as well. Maybe I am only more worried about the steady decline of peoples morals, especially with everyone having access to the internet. What is now accepted was only 10 years ago unthinkable. The TV, movies, commercials, I mean everything is sexed out. So - how on earth is one (especially women of integrity) supposed to find a GOOD man? Someone not into porn, and with no inclinations to infidelity. A lot of people do drugs now, something that was absolutely not acceptable in schools, or actually anywhere in society. So, just because many people do drugs, go to strip bars, or have affairs; how do we justify all this in front of our kids??? I know teachers that preach to the kids in class and are drug users, slobs, and lousy parents at home. Not a far cry from watching porn or going to strip joints. I feel that in the end it is what we decide in our own home that sets our own personal standards and moral beliefs. There really is no right or wrong. Do not blame a porn addict for being a porn or strip joint addict. He got himself there, by choice. Its up to him to figure out how much he is liked in society. A lot of girls will always try to cash in on the only thing they actually got - beauty, which is relative with all them chemicals they put into their face. Take that away from them and you often see a far less attractive person. It is sex that sells. Even if you never intend to sleep with a man as a stripper - in the eye of many men you are indeed a prostitute because you are still selling your body, even if it is just for stares. Any decent woman that had to do this line of "work" never felt great about herself afterwards. There are your answers. | |

Go check out a Greek restaurant or Middle Eastern place with belly dancers. It's a family affair including putting a $5 down the pants of the dancers!

So true. America is still considered prude by way of comparison to Europe. There's still a lot of puritanical dogma that's engrained into our culture here.
That's why America sensationalizes everything. We make sex into a much bigger deal than it really is. We put so much emphasis on what you should and shouldn't do with it. Seems like people overseas don't view it as such a big deal. Which is why they can do more with it.
|
| Is exotic dancing prostitution? Posted: 5/12/2008 6:38:29 AM | ...good to know. I already started to feel like coming from Mars I never really thought that there were big cultural differences between Europe and the US imo, especially in this smaller growing world... but this still seems to be one, so I find the different views pretty interesting. I really wonder if we would have embarrassed our American customers or partners with exotic dancers among other performances as we had at our company anniversaries. Still trying to understand... getting that answer... | |

MSG #1-timenough123 Wrote:The woman who suggested it kept pressing the issue, and finally I told her that exotic dancing was prostitutuion, was at best morally questionable, and I didnt care to support prostitution or put money in the pockets of pimps. Definition of Prostituting:: To offer indiscriminately for sexual intercourse esp. for money. / I have been in a few strip bars back about 20 years ago and I don't recall ever seeing anyone having sexual intercourse while in them places. I think dancers on TV get paid and the Solid Gold dancers most likely wasn't just donating their dancing skills to ABC or NBC or CBS broadcasting chanels. So "Timenought123 ? are you saying that dancers if they get paid to dance are all prostitutes? The only difference between a Solid Gold dancer and an Exotic dancer is about 1 ounce of clothing. An the Solid Gold Dancer makes more money per dance. So are you saying a solid gold dancer would be a bigger prostitute? Hummmmmmm Sorry but I have a long time friend thats a retired exotic dancer and I don't see her as a prostitute. If she would have ever did it she would have told me she did it.She's a really nice person. An I know a lot of guys thats tried to get down her pants and they all get turned down flat. I'm not saying that a certain percentage of exotic dancers has not prostituted themselves out after hours. But I'm sure the number is lotsssssssssssssssssssssssss smaller than most people would think.

| Is exotic dancing prostitution? Posted: 5/12/2008 4:20:44 PM | No. I have no problem with exotic dancing. I think Dita Von Tease is not only beautiful but a magnificent performance artist. She has brought the art of Burlesque back. But most skanky gals make their $$$ from Lap Dances which usually result in a happy ending for the man. Prostitution? Not a doubt. | |

| Is exotic dancing prostitution? Posted: 5/12/2008 10:58:02 PM | Strippers are not prostitutes, degrading or stupid. Some of the most inteligent and insightfull women i've met in my life were strippers. One thing that happens to me all the time is, a random girl at a bar (not a strip bar) would just walk up to me, sit on my lap, tell me I was attractive and ask if I wanted to dance. Strippers do the same thing except they make a living by making you feel wanted and attractive. I don't know dude according to your experience the whole world is prostitutes and pimps | |

| Is exotic dancing prostitution? Posted: 5/13/2008 1:07:03 PM | A job is when you trade your time (life) for money. exactly!
so many people here seem to condemn taking ur clothes off for money. why is it better or more respectable to make $$$ by sucking up to some boss every day, to go up corporate ladder? we all give something up to make a living. for me, it's my clothes, but u know what? i can say f*** off to anyone that treats me bad, any time. stripping is what u make it.
and consider this: -i dont have a schedule, i basically show up when i want to (or am broke and need to) -taxes r what i make them -i can take 3 days or even 3 years off, and come back, still got same job -i dont have to wait 2 weeks for paycheck
Yes it is prostitution. It's females CHOOSING to sell themselves for money rather than get a real job. Such females give decent, respectable women a bad name. I applaud your comment and fully agree It's sad that some females have such low self esteem and think so poorly of themselves that they have to sell their bodies for money and for approval.
god save me from your 'good people'
for aproval, ey? that makes sense... u work a job where most of society treats u like u r a prostitute or some form of lesser being, yeah, i call that a job where one 'seeks approval' alright! of course, also one w low self esteem, after all, it don't take much balls to be naked in front of a crowd, on stage, trying to convince them u r one sexy thang.
maybe ms decent and respectable needs some self esteem herself, so she can think for herself and not what society wants out of her, and instead of being 'decent' maybe she could be happy
to answer the OP.... exotic dancing is NOT prostitution. it can be, if the dancer chooses to. i have offers all the time (about1-3 times a night), with various amounts of $$$, all seem surprised i say no.
i love my job, and i choose to not sell sex, i dont look down on prostitutes, they r tough women to be allowing that much personal space invasion and still keep their wits about, that's a tremendously tough job, i couldn't do it and maintain my sanity.

or maybe because you dont respect yourself enough to grow a self esteem that isn't tied in such a tight matter to the issue of being or not being naked in front of other people.
just because, for example, christianity idolizes a woman that gives birth unnaturally thru immaculate conception, or a celibate man that dies at the hands of his peers, doesn't mean that's what all human beings aspire to - most people i know want a family with at least 1-2 kids and pets, last i heard that was the american dream?
we are a society that is torn between instincts deeply rooted into the survival of our species and abstract religious ideals... which leave us with a ton of guilt about sexual interaction, and going down that rabbit hole, to guilt&shame about our nakedness, and further down, placing that guilt and shame from inside onto others by imposing our views and dysfunction onto them.
that's why so many self righteous people look down on adult entertainers: it is a combo of ignorance and dysfunnction
