This is not an economic stimulus, this is an act of desperation.
It is a desperate act by people who know their policies are a complete failure.
Not only this administration, but all the people who back them have failed this country and the people who live here.
Since the end of WW II our government has slowly become little else, than a front organization for a bunch of pirates who look upon the American people with contempt.
They have fed us with lies and double talk about Free Markets and Free Trade, all the while cheating us of our future and the prosperity which should be ours.
It's really our own faults.
We the people have chosen to be lazy and ignorant. We have refused to listen critically or educate ourselves in the realities of the world.
Frankly, we deserve what we are about to get.
So, enjoy your chump change for chumps. | |

Posted: 5/1/2008 6:59:50 AM | I just decided that my one splurge is going to be a Harvey's seatbelt purse. They are sooooooo cute! I normally would never, ever spend $100+ on a purse. And who knows....I may talk myself out of this one.

Local news briefs
The Internal Revenue Service has begun depositing federal economic stimulus checks into taxpayers' bank accounts. Checks are going out to 130 million households.
According to the IRS, direct deposit payments will be transmitted on or before the following dates, based on the last two digits of recipients' Social Security numbers:
• 00 through 20 -- May 2.
• 21 through 75 -- May 9.
• 76 though 99 -- May 16.
Paper checks will be mailed on the following dates, based on the last two digits of recipients' Social Security numbers:
• 00 through 09 -- May 16
• 10 through 18 -- May 23
• 19 through 25 -- May 30
• 26 through 38 -- June 6
• 39 through 51 -- June 13
• 52 through 63 -- June 20
• 64 through 75 -- June 27
• 76 through 87 -- July 4
• 88 through 99 -- July 11 | |

For some reason this has been getting spread around like wildfire, but it's only true for some (wishful thinking, I guess?) - the front page of the IRS web site has a link to the schedule you can look at.
Last two SSN digits: Payments will be transmitted no later than:
00 through 20 May 2
21 through 75 May 9
76 through 99 May 16
So, you should only have it if you're SSN# ends in 00-20. Mine should be coming next week. And that's only if you filed with direct deposit - if you get your tax refund in check form, it'll start after the direct deposits.
Anyway... as far as what I'm going to do with it, I honestly can't think of anything I want so badly that I *have* to go buy it just because the government hands me $300 that I'll probably end up having to pay back sooner or later anyway... so I'm pretty sure it's going to be added to my investment funds. | |

Probably - you might want to give your IRS office a call and ask them what you need to do to fix that, or if it'll just end up causing you to get a check after the direct deposit fails... | |

Posted: 5/3/2008 11:34:57 PM | Hmmm....well, after reading your ideas about what you might want to do all I can say is don't come to Hawaii until our air clears. The volcano is throwing massive amounts of sulfur dioxide into the air and it's nasty, nasty, nasty breathing.

You'll have to wait until the checks are mailed.
I got mine today (May 15). I was on the direct deposit list for May 16. Maybe I'll get another one tomorrow!! | |
