i like boys inked and non-inked just as well. half or full-sleeve tattoos (or any body art) if well done can be gorgeous. the key for me is to avoid clashing styles (don't mix vintage i love mom tattoos with japanese ink, then throw in some polynesian tribal and a dash of celtic...the combination just won't work) and it's essential to have a really good artist do the inking (nothing worse than a poorly designed or inked tat). just my opinion of course.

I have a half sleave of a koi fish with a lotus flower with some flames on the top... i also am working on another half sleave with a grand dragon and some other shading and fill work. I did have a really shitty tattoo i got when i was like 17 and i always hated it so i went with the half sleave to cover it up. Now that i almost have my other half sleave done i have noticed alot how people look at you alot different in public from before when i didnt have tattoos or if i am wearing a long sleave shirt. I was wearing a cut off shirt the other day at the mall and this ladys 6 year old son was running away from her so i kind of moved abit so i could block him in as she had her hands filled with bags and all kind of stuff.. i smile at her and said kids are quick these days....she grabed her kid gave me the worrest look i have ever seen in my life and made a run for it...i will bet you if i had a long sleave shirt oh she would have smiled said thanks......or when i have also noticed alot at the bar or night club..im always getting asked " hey you got some blow man" " hey got some coke for sale" " yo dude know where i can score some drugs" before having no tattoo i would never be asked such a thing...but i guess now with the tattoos im a kid naping coke dealer / game member and im packing a gun!! well two guns...i do get alot of girls coming up to me because of the tattoo's im planning on getting more and i love the art work and having it part of my body...but people get with the times...maybe 20yrs ago if you had a bunch of tattoo's you might have been a biker or crack dealer...but you look today tons of people from lawyers police fire men teachers all have tattoos.....

I'm reminded of an exchange I saw in an otherwise forgettable movie with Steve Zahn where he was playing the usual Steve Zahn whacky character and was with his friend at a tattoo parlour. He had gotten a tiger or some other generic tat and asks his buddy what he thinks.

"When I see that I think tattoo."

I thought that was a perfect reaction, people think their tats have all these deep meaning but when I see them I just think tattoo.

What is sexy and what is cluttered ... beauty is in the eyes of the beholder .. and the other factors are the choice of art ... the artist.. and of course the canvass ..

I have seen some full sleeves, on both men and women .. and they were gorgeous pieces of art .. and then .. I have seen some less than attractive sleeves .. the risk of having a sleeve is like any other tattoo .. with age, your body can and will change, thus effecting the art ... I have also seen a full upper sleeve wipped out after a bike accident ..

But hey as long as the owner and wearer of the art is all good with it .. that is all that should matter ...

And lets face it ... not a whole bunch of people I know .. for their first tatt .... go out and get a full sleeve requiring 25+ hours of needling .. and if you know of such a person .. call me up .. I'll pick up a bottle of Sailor Jerry rum and we can sit and watch them squirm ....

Giddy Up

Peeeeeeeeace Out !!
