Actually, he is not looking for sympathy, he is looking for advice! Big difference!
Plus, to play devil's advocate (purely), these things do happen, thoughout the ages, they are usually merely not talked about. If not with a GF's mother, with a GF's sister or GF. I will not preach on the dude about the ethos of the action, that would be sooo easy to do and frankly ... too easy!
There is a lot of pretence flowing around. But that is another story!
IMO, he should have dumped the GF first and then sleep with her mother, but he was not married to the GF, so technically, it is a minor infraction. The #&#&# thing was to not use a condom, IMO.
As per why and what mothers or sisters or best friends do it, I guess one has to ask them, if they dare admit to having ever done it.
The most obvious advice is for the OP to stay way clear of his (former) GF, for purposes of his safety. And the GF's father, if he is in the picture, or brother!
I am glad I am not in his shoes and I have never been!
PS. Plus GF does not mean SO or wife and "single", technically, means "not married" (or in modern lingo, at best, not in a "serious", commited, rel. GF/BF are very vague and dust in the wind "statuses".

He is not related to the GF's mother. Even what the mother did was "something" but in any case not "illegal", even if she is married (let's assume she is not), as the OP and his GF are not married or even engaged. Plus let us not forget "the Graduate" and "Mrs Robinson", and many men and women who dated one person and later wound up marrying the brother or the sister of that person, before we start throwing stones at the OP or the GF's mother. Plus we do not know what state the rel between the OP and his "GF" was at when this happened.
So let us refrain from the stone throwing and those who wish let's try to offer the OP what he did ask for, and that is gutsy, to post his "predicament" on here, ADVICE! Obviously he did not post to attract dates! Or stones. But advice. Sympathetic or not sympathetic. But this is not Salem, is it!
