Posted: 5/8/2010 2:47:03 PM | Hi, Y'all my name is Amy and this sounds like a lot of fun. I havent been tubing down the Guadalupa in about 10 years.
I just have a few questions, the main one being; I have only been a member of POF for a little bit and have never posted anything on these message boards, is it still okay if I come out with y'all and hang out the weekend?
I live in Killeen, (AKA Ft. Hood) and am looking for either a ride with someone that is staying the whole time (yes I will spilt the cost of gas and bring my own food and such, but I dont have a tent or stove), or I am willing to drive someone or a someones' that are wanting to stay the whole time that would be willing to share their tent and stove and chip in on gas money and bring the own foodstuffs. But I think I would really rather find a ride with someone that is going to be there the whole time, but if as a last resort I will take my car with 1-2 people in it.
I don't want to sound like a tightwad, but I am on disability and on a very fixed income and only make $724 a month and have a lttle bit stashed a way for emergency on a credit card. So carpooling would help my greatly so I dont have to go buy a whole bunch of camping supplies. Plus hopefully I can manage to actually find the place with some else knowing where to go:)
This trip sounds like so much fun, it is the nearest thing to a vacation I have had since I broke my back 9 years ago, I hope this works out...I am soooo excited!!!!

Posted: 6/9/2010 2:45:31 PM | UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO FLASH FLOOD CONDITIONS IN THE LAKE CANYON AREA MAKING TUBING THE GUADALUPE DANGEROUS, MOUNTAIN BREEZE WILL BE CLOSED THIS WEEKEND, JUNE 11-13, 2010. THEREFORE, THE EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED!
AS STATED IN THE ORIGINAL POST:
This trip is “weather dependent,” so if the Guadalupe river is not safe because of floods or drought, we will not go. Or if the weather is obviously going to be very bad over the weekend, we will cancel the trip. Since you can just show up without a reservation, we can reschedule the trip if need be. No money has been paid out, so there's no risk! Storms in the area are very brief so even if the forecast is for rain, we'll go. It's only if there is extraordinarily bad weather will we cancel. | |
