| Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 5/7/2008 6:47:34 PM | I adore playing horseshoes I hope my back is healed up enough to play. I hope the weather is good that day too. Is this a rain or shine gathering? Will you rescheduel if it rains? Michelle | |
|
| Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 5/7/2008 9:20:30 PM | | The Pavilion allows this to be a rain or shine event (unless it is a bad storm) however it will require bringing some bbq grills in that event since the campground ones are outside the pavilion Maybe a sheet of metal would cover the outdoor ones. We can cross each bridge as we come to it. steve | |

| Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 5/8/2008 4:00:12 AM | I just noticed this event and it is close to me, as long as kids are allowed I could make this one, and I have a large grill I could bring if you need one. But I can't unload it, I'd need help!! Also I have the question of how do we find each other if were camping out? All I could find so far was meeting at the pavilion for lunch at 1:30? Shell | |

| Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 5/8/2008 8:19:34 AM | Gentlemen: This message is for you!!! Listen UP! We have more guys than gals signed up so far. Our BBQ/Picnic will be far more successful if you will take a few minutes RIGHT NOW and lend a helping hand. Right this minute go to your My Matches or Favorites List and contact several gals you would like to have attend this gathering, inviting them to sign up. (And fellas, bring some extra fishin' poles for the girls.)
Gals and Guys: Please remember, some of us will be camping the night before, so if you want to make this a camping trip as well, you are welcome to do so. Don't forget marshmallows and hot dogs for the campfire. I may bring stuff for s'mores but I aint sharin' too many, lessin' I like sumbody a whole bunch!
Also if you plan to fish buy a license. The fine is a lot higher than the cost of a license. Wal-Mart sells them in their sporting goods department or you can get one at almost any bait shop
|
| Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 5/8/2008 8:30:42 AM | That is a good question about how to find each other the night before. I will either bring a sign or bring my big truck. Either would be impossible to miss. I would guess the pavillion would be accessable the night before but I will verify that with the park service and update the info here
As I said before, well behaved kids are welcome. Non well behaved kids will be used for fish bait. Rotten kids work great for Catfish.
I will write to each of you individually after our mass mailing is done. Due to mail preferences and restrictions I can not write to other men and some of you younger gals so unless we do our mass mailing I may need help from some of you in getting the list made up

| Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 5/8/2008 10:35:37 AM | The grill is umm about 4 feet long in the center (grill area) and there are two arm attachments one on each side of the grill, one side is like a table with hooks, and the other side is a gas burner, if we want to fry up some tators!
And if my kid isn't well behaved I'll be the first one putting her on as bait!! haha

| Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 5/8/2008 7:30:15 PM | Maybe its just me but someone sounds a bit annoyed that a few people would like to bring their children. The Sponge Bob and Big Bird comment didnt sit well with me at all. My daughter happens to be my world and I asked up front if this was a "kid friendly" event before I even partook in joining the festives. My daughter comes first in my life not dateing. Should I even think about getting involved with someone they will need to win my daughters approval as well she is a part of the family and will not be kicked to the curb even momentarily so I can go mingle with a bunch of strangers. Sorry if this sounds a bit hostile guess I got rubbed the wrong way. I was really glad to see others were bringing their teenaged kids because my daughter does not know anyone in Arkansas either so it will be great for her. Too bad for the hopefuls to get a woman alone LMAO! Michelle | |

| Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 5/8/2008 8:27:47 PM | Since someone has decided to delete all of my postings, I'm not sure that I'm welcome at this event. also I'm confused about the kid stuff..,Isn't that for church outings or school functions? I thought this was a dating site for adults? | |

| Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 5/8/2008 10:08:35 PM | REGARDING CHILDREN: This is our third meeting. At our previous meetings we already discussed this issue and it was the consensus of the group that children would be welcome at any non alcohol event. The reasons which we have already discussed are simple: (1) Some ladies with kids are prevented from coming if they have to get a babysitter (2) Men courting the attention of ladies with children will be (and should) able to see the complete package deal if kids are welcome to come along (3) There will be no behavior by adults at our gatherings which would be inappropriate for children to be a part of. Anyone planning otherwise needs to find another group to hang out with (4) Everybody in our previous meetings seemed to like kids
Likewise the kids who do come are welcome only as long as they are well behaved

| Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 5/8/2008 10:17:21 PM | twdfish You are welcome to this event. I appreciate your help with information about the lake.
I drove out to Prairie Creek today and took pictures of the pavillion, BBQ grills and the lake. I also asked questions about the likelihood of snakes in or near the park. Although there are never guarantees, the lady at the check in building has been there for two years now and she said during that time no snake has ever caused a problem in the park. The area is very heavily trafficed by humans and snakes tend to avoid such areas. She also pointed out several areas up and down the lake where they are a problem but they are generally not found near Prairie Creek Campground. Caution is always advised, especially when water is high
She also told me that campers need to reserve early due to the campground filling up because of the fishing tournament so I rented space#53 which is nearest the pavilion. If I take my big truck, there will be room for one other tent on my space which I can also bring. The rent was $17. Three tent limit -OR- one RV and one tent -OR- 8 persons maximum. I will post the pictures I took, along with a link to reserve campsites online. Contact me privately for that information by mail since it is against the POF rules to post weblinks.

| Northwest Arkansas BBQ at Beaver Lake May17 Posted: 5/9/2008 6:46:56 AM | NO SNAKES ! The info I posted about snakes was referring to a REMOTE island with nothing but boat access (that Andy asked for info on)and there is where you MIGHT see a snake. I don't think you could find one in the PARK if you TRIED. Thanks for the other info Steve and good job with the planning. | |
