Here is a news item:

"""Obama was pressed further in a subsequent Fox News interview. Obama admitted that he would have quit his church had he witnessed and heard Wright's statements firsthand.

"If I had heard them repeated, I would have quit," he said. "If I thought that was the repeated tenor of the church, then I wouldn’t feel comfortable there."

But in a third interview with CNN, Obama said he will not quit the church now.

"As he's about to retire, I have no intention of leaving the church itself," Obama said.

He argued that the frequency of the statements matter, saying that Wright's most controversial statements were strung together and complied in the media out of hundreds of sermons over the course of his lifetime. ""

NOTE THAT HE SAID HE WASN'T PRESENT WHEN SOME OF THE COMMENTS WERE MADE.

NOTE THAT SOME OF THESE COMMENTS GO BACK YEARS, THAT WHAT WE HAVE ALL READ IS A COMPILATION OF CONTROVERSIAL STATEMENTS THAT WERE MADE SCATTERED OVER HUNDREDS, PROBABLY THOUSANDS OF SERMONS.

AND REMEMBER THAT THE ARMY OF PEOPLE EMPLOYED BY MCCAIN AND CLINTON TO SLUR OBAMA PARSED THROUGH ALL OF WRIGHTS HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS OR SERMONS LOOKING FOR CONTROVERSIAL STATEMENTS.

AND DO RECALL THAT THE REASON THEY DID THAT WAS FOR A DESIRE EFFECT: CHARACTER ASSASSINATION.

What people seem to forget is that the many people who were interviewed by the slur-meisters have nothing but good things to say about him, from his Harvard classmates all the way down to his fellow Senators who asked him to run for the Democratic ticket.

I go to a church that strongly feels all races other than white are out to get "us". But everyone is welcome at my church. I hang out with some people that through associations have bombed a few places, buy weapons that support that idea. Some deal drugs and some "other" deals ,you know some that just are plain out limitless in there extreme to support thse notions.

But, they're just misunderstood, basiclly good people who hold fund fasiers and tackle tough issues like globel warming, ecomony, healthcare and so on. I don't personally believe all their views but I don't see where what they do or the fact that I choose to keep an association with them to be a reason anyone would want to judge me. I feel it's wrong for me to hold a few bad choices against someone.

I love these posts! They really help to weed and seed out the undesirables, insane, inept, pathelogical liars, racists and those suffering with erectile dysfunction and fridgitity!

Mr. Wright made a comment in his own church - to his own gathering. Mr. Obama DID NOT make those statements and does not have to own up to anything anyone else says.

What IS REALITY was Hilary Clinton's statement that..."while in Bosnia" (she and Chelsea faced sniper fire... - had to run for their lives"), which NEVER happened! A straight out lie! Another "Weapons of Mass Destruction" message...same ole thing...
About right now, the people of Bosnia should be really, really angry with Americans!
Rightfully so, most countries and nationalities are - white America is almost banned everywhere....

Therefore, I can safely believe that all those in the first category are the millions of Americans that will cast their vote for Clinton, a liar...or more insanely neurotic, for McCain, who at his age by the way, probably sleeps all day including sleeping at 3:00 a.m. when the phone rings -or does not ring, what the hale - he won't hear it anyway.

I will admit, though, out of all of the more than eligible, attractive, desirable white males on here that have contacted me - I am scared to let my heart out to you. I am appalled. but not stupid enough to believe that you could - or can love me - while at the same time hate my Black sons, nephews, family - those that look Black - but will incorporate the ones that are White, Light or physically appear "acceptable", enough to you! I am educated and well socialized; people are people, the color or tone of the skin, hair texture, whatever, does not matter! And my mixed raced family feels the same because I do not hesitate to preach, teach these things to them!

Finally, I would like to add, Obama is simply, A MAN! He is a man of integrity and presents as though he can represent America and America's dreams. Somebody killed Martin Luther King...a man that wanted to bring us "all" together - to be judged only by the content of our hearts!

i never said obama wasn't a nice guy. i have no trouble believing his harvard classmates thought so.

is being a nice guy enough to be president? i don't think so.

my point was this, he knew what the church was about. you can say wright made these statements infrequently and the media has twisted everything and i believe that. however, you would have to be extremely naive to believe obama didn't know what wright's agenda had been the entire time he went to this church.

i went to a southern baptist church when i was a kid. never once was homosexuality mentioned in a sermon but i KNEW what the church thought of it. i left when i turned 18. obama is a smart, smart guy. smarter than me, i don't mind admitting. he knew. he didn't care. that's his constituency, he wanted those ultra liberal votes. it's the same thing with ayers. the exact same thing. i don't believe there is any true affection between obama and wright and obama and ayers, but i guarantee ayers and wright will exploit their relationship with obama for their 15 minutes of fame. wright already is, much to his discredit

wright and ayers have assassinated obama's character more than clinton and especially more than mccain, he hasn't said anything and won't say anything about it.

now, all that being said wright has every right in the world to preach what he wants, feel and believe what he wants, this is still america. i don't, however, think our next president should think of someone like that as their "spiritual mentor"

just my opinion

In 1995, State Senator Alice Palmer introduced her chosen successor, Barack Obama, to a few of the district’s influential liberals at the home of two well known figures on the local left: William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.

While Ayers and Dohrn may be thought of in Hyde Park as local activists, they’re better known nationally as two of the most notorious — and unrepentant — figures from the violent fringe of the 1960s anti-war movement.

Now, as Obama runs for president, what two guests recall as an unremarkable gathering on the road to a minor elected office stands as a symbol of how swiftly he has risen from a man in the Hyde Park left to one closing in fast on the Democratic nomination for president.

“I can remember being one of a small group of people who came to Bill Ayers’ house to learn that Alice Palmer was stepping down from the senate and running for Congress,” said Dr. Quentin Young, a prominent Chicago physician and advocate for single-payer health care, of the informal gathering at the home of Ayers and his wife, Dohrn. “[Palmer] identified [Obama] as her successor.”

Obama and Palmer “were both there,” he said.

Obama’s connections to Ayers and Dorhn have been noted in some fleeting news coverage in the past. But the visit by Obama to their home — part of a campaign courtship — reflects more extensive interaction than has been previously reported.

Neither Ayers nor the Obama campaign would describe the relationship between the two men. Dr. Young described Obama and Ayers as “friends,” but there’s no evidence their relationship is more than the casual friendship of two men who occupy overlapping Chicago political circles and who served together on the board of a Chicago foundation.

I'm afraid his record doesnt measure up with that he says. Alot of promises, but no solutions, which is typical of the democratic party of today. Where is the money going to come from for all these "socialistic" new programs" If you tax those who make the money, wont they just leave jobs to other countries? Where are individuals?

funny stuff

I'm a Republican....Obama is not my man necessarily for sure, but

I'm not willing to be blind, strident and STUPID either...Obama

is certainly head and shoulders 'more qualified' as a 'thinker' than

George W. who I voted for twice.....

People are strange indeed.....the same people that were able to 'overlook'

glaring imperfections in George W. are the same people now that actually think

that Obama is 'not qualified'....

Clearly a minority must not just be 'good'......they must somehow be

better than 'good' to receive LESS.......that's our BOGUS history of this

great nation. We have double standards it seems.....nothing new there !!

Now closet racists in my party are trying to 'pick pepper out of birdchit'

when it comes to Obama and his associations, and his record.

There was no mistake in the election of George W.Bush and for the democrats to still be crying about that is a show of lack of emotional growth i.e still a baby wanting their way boohoo.Voting for someone simply because of the color of their skin is also a lack of emotional growth.Obama will not be voted into office and neither will Hillary clinton. You see for all the folks in canada all ur nonsense talk of how all of us should be voting for obama makes me wonder.I mean Mg has been dictating his own form of propaganda as far back as the first talk about the presidential race.Always comes up with what he comically refers to as the truth.Got a bridge for sale mg in Colorado that will make you appear to all others as someone with intelligence uncompared. For the colored folk on here getting all hot and bothered because ur "brother"is being dissed well grow up.Obamas own wife let you know just how racially motivated she was and is with her harvard education, which by the way means what exactly, if you don't have understanding to go with education you have foolishness.Obamas sister said they were raised by an agnostic so exactly why don't ya see the hidden undertow of deception being played out right in front of ur faces?Maybe because the muslim faith is to in fact destroy anyone who isn't muslim and maybe when u do wake up and smell the coffee u will realize that sleeper cells do in fact exist and one is running for president. This goes back to something else I posted awhile back.Obama could not have been raised to go to school with the muslims in their school and not take on muslim attitude.Do you honestly think they don't lie?pls come on now get serious.Obama can in noway be compared to Martin Luther King who was in fact a christian and gave his life to preach the christian way.You had Jesse jackson and al sharpton last presidential race standing on the fact that jesse knew MLK and had a pic with him but the ppl soon saw through that because they listened to what he was saying and they realized he was about hate just as al sharpton is and just as obama is,granted obama is doing his hating undercover but nonetheless it is there and we keep getting glimpses of just how deep it goes when we hear from his wife, sister, and pastor.Obama had no idea his pastor would throw out the baby with the bath water so he had no choice but to distance himself from him or else commit political suicide. Why do u think he joined that church?Do u think it might be because that was the nearest to the muslim faith without being actual muslim which would allow him to run for office later on?What d-lily wrote is not about hate but truth so digest it.What mg wrote is telling u that when the employer backs someone then yes there will be employees that will do it to,still doesn't change the facts. Why are some of u trying sooooooo hard to downplay the truth about obama? Is it because u r muslim to?

WOW. Now THAT's clever. A Christian church that's actually a mosque.

suibhne, I'm not what your "socialistic" new programs are but its the "capitalistic" OLD programs that are sending jobs to other countries. The price of health care has gotten too high and since it is the employer base in America bearing most of the burden, they are bailing. Outsourcing, paying for a smaller piece of the insurance, negotiating less rich plans with bigger deductibles, etc., not offering full-time jobs just part-time at less than 40 hours a week, using subcontractors instead of employees, etc.

Now if you want to see that continue for the next four years, you go right ahead and vote for McCain now, ok? After all, we wouldnt want any "socialist" programs 'round here now, do we. We don't like their kind 'round here, no-suh!

You just suck it up, boy, and take your screwing LIKE A MAN!

A nationalized, single payer system is the ONLY plan that will put a lid on costs and help offset the burden to employers so we can keep actual jobs in America .... but you go right on believing whatever bullshit youve been fed, ok?

Just wait til us baby boomers retire and start drawing from Medicare and SS big time. Then you will see a meltdown ....I pity the fool who is under 50 years old in America today. You folks is gonna pay through the nose..............yet you will vote to screw yourselves.... how odd!

Confucius say: Cracker in fishpond never too crisp.

Isn't it amazing how someone like our spearchukker can spew the most baseless, hateful, paranoid fantasies and not know how pathetic she sounds? She's got herself tied in sillyknots. (A United Church of Christ in Chicago is the "nearest to the muslim faith without being actual muslim." WooHOO! Chicago better wake UP and smell the pews!)

What must be pissing her off is how much smarter than her most of our black citizens are; how better read, better informed, better connected, and better behaved. How much more generous, patriotic, and wise they are. How much more American they are than she is. In an inbred ghetto like hers, where delusion is passed around as proof positive, and resentment wears a thin, comic veil of entitlement, the very fact of her blank future becomes an indictment of - secret Muslims! Crybaby Democrats! You and me and everybody else in the whole world! Except for her and her bitter, bitter cousins, of course. They are the victims. No one plays the victim card quicker than a poor, white bigot from a bad high school.

After all, if the secret Muslims would just get out of her way, she would be running marathons or curing cancer or something. Pesky secret Muslims!

Some people only feel important if they think other people are out to get them. They aren't able to value themselves for themselves. They have to be a target or they are nothing. Since such folks tend not to actually contribute to the greater good, no one even knows they are there until they pipe up with these comic book stories. And then, of course, when someone points out how ridiculous they are, they fit that tidbit into the conspiracy to keep them down.

That, and libraries, and other people. Because, if there's anything scarier than secret Muslims plotting to hang a burqa over the White House and close all the barbecue joints, it's nobody anywhere knowing she exists at all. How much more comforting to have your own supervillain to contend with? It practically makes you a superhero!

Me? I'd rather read a book and listen to somebody else's informed and considered views. Which, I suppose, makes me a secret Muslim, too.

Ya Ali Madat!

Unbelievably unbelievable.

OT: Though it would be prudent, in my view, considering the options you've given yourselves, to elect Obama...I don't think it really matters much who y'all vote in as long as they make an effort to stop the bleeding. The injuries the present administration has inflicted upon your nation are real, and if they can be reversed and repaired, I'm thinking it will take longer than the next four years to do it.

he also spoke of what a great country it was that he could hide underground for 10 years and not be caught.

And when he turned himself in...the authorities had to release him .

According to his memoir, Ayers became radicalized at the University of Michigan where he became involved in the New Left and the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). In 1969, Ayers joined the Weatherman, a radical group which arose as a result of a schism in SDS. The following year he "went underground" with several associates after the Greenwich Village townhouse explosion, in which three Weatherman members (Ted Gold, Terry Robbins, and Diana Oughton, who was Ayers' girlfriend at the time) were killed while constructing a nail bomb. He was not facing criminal charges at the time, but the federal government later filed charges against him. While underground, he and fellow member Bernardine Dohrn married and had two children. They were purged from the group in the mid-1970s, and turned themselves in to the authorities in 1981. All charges against him were dropped due to prosecutorial misconduct during the long search for the fugitives. Ayers and Dohrn later became legal guardians to the son of former Weathermen David Gilbert and Kathy Boudin after his parents were arrested for their part in the Brinks Robbery of 1981.

In 2001, Ayers published Fugitive Days: A Memoir. Much of the controversy about Ayers during the decade since the year 2000 stems from an interview he gave to the New York Times on the occasion of the memoir's publication. The reporter quoted him as saying "I don't regret setting bombs" and "I feel we didn't do enough", and, when asked if he would "do it all again" as saying "I don't want to discount the possibility." Ayers has not denied the quotes, but he protested the interviewer's characterizations in a Letter to the Editor published September 15, 2001: "This is not a question of being misunderstood or 'taken out of context', but of deliberate distortion." In the ensuing years, Ayers has repeatedly avowed that when he said he had "no regrets" and that "we didn't do enough" he was speaking only in reference to his efforts to stop the United States from waging the Vietnam War, efforts which he has described as ". . . inadequate [as] the war dragged on for a decade."[6] Ayers has maintained that the two statements were not intended to imply a wish they had set more bombs. The interviewer also quoted some of Ayers' own criticism of Weatherman in the foreword to the memoir, whereby Ayers reacts to having watched Emile de Antonio's 1976 documentary film about Weatherman, Underground: "[Ayers] was 'embarrassed by the arrogance, the solipsism, the absolute certainty that we and we alone knew the way. The rigidity and the narcissism.' "

Historian Jesse Lemisch (himself a former member of SDS) has contrasted Ayers' recollections with those of other former members of Weatherman and has alleged serious factual errors.Ayers, in the foreword to his book, states that the book was written as his personal memories and impressions over time, not a scholarly research project.

According to Ayers, his radical past occasionally impacts him, as when, by his account, he was asked not to attend a progressive educators' conference in the fall of 2006 on the basis that the organizers did not want to risk an association with his past.

Academic career

Ayers is currently a Distinguished Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Education. His interests include teaching for social justice, urban educational reform, narrative and interpretive research, children in trouble with the law, and related issues.

He began his career in primary education while an undergraduate, teaching at the Children’s Community School (CCS). After leaving the underground, he earned an M.Ed from Bank Street College in Early Childhood Education (1984), an M.Ed from Teachers College, Columbia University in Early Childhood Education (1987) and an Ed.D from Columbia University in Curriculum and Instruction (1987).

He has edited and written many books and articles on education theory, policy and practice, and has appeared on many panels and symposia.

Civic involvements

Ayers was tapped by Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley to shape that city's now nationally-renowned school reform program. Since 1999 he has served on the board of directors of the Woods Fund of Chicago, an anti-poverty, philanthropic foundation established in 1941. This became controversial in the 2008 United States presidential election, as Barack Obama had served on the board until 2002, with overlapping times of service with Ayers.

Anyone here up in arms over Daley choosing him to do that ?

Are you up in arms about Clinton's husband pardoning two convicted killers from the same organization ? Ones that killed a Brink's guard, and two policemen ?

Ayers at least took care of their children, when their parents couldn't.

Anyone here up in arms that the man redeemed himself through educating others, and helping others ?

one thing that troubles me about the election is why are we worried about people obama knows. what about the bush family knee deep in saudi oil money. Clinton pardoned more shady people than a little bit. Bush pardoned one of his people before the gravel went done. Americas books are unbalanced we need an audit. Hillary OMG you wouldn't stay at a church but you STAYED WITH BILL THROUGH ALL THOSE B******. She has the audacity what was you doing when bill got that 3 a.m. call " i'll be back Hil um air force one got a flat". McCain in November.

as a former illinoisian, NOTHING about illinois politics surprises me. i'm sure people were up in arms over it, but daley isn't running for president. i don't have children, not in illinois any longer and i have to say i don't know enough about the program to say much of anything about it, however, aside from curing cancer, it's damn near impossible for a terrorist to redeem himself. think what you want about that, that's just how i feel about people setting bombs. warning phone calls or not. actually, the idea of this guy "taking care" of children made me puke in my mouth a little

i am absolutely outraged two murderers were pardoned. how could any feeling, reasonable human being not be? i was trying desperately to stay on the obama topic, i have trouble staying on topic (yes, there is shame, but i do what i can) ;) and from what i understand the rules are pretty strict about it. i should have responded, yes, it's reprehensible.

what exactly unjustifiable thing am i trying to justify? what double standard am i trying to uphold?

rollrgrl, you have been pressing your own emotional buttons over this.

Obama was 8 years old when these people did what they did.

Don't mix him up with it. And dont blame him for the deaths of those cops.

I am sure Obama has consorted with thousands of people in the course of his public life. Is he responsible for every toe-sucker or nose-picker, every time someone might have farted in an elevator and looked at someone else?

Focus on what he does nd says. You are being sucked into the slime teams that have been going over everything and everyone in his life trying to dig up dirt and get the kind of reaction that you are experiencing.

Dont be manipulated.

Thank you, Steven, for being affirmative. You are an example to us all.

I forgot myself up there, and I want to apologize to spearfish for the personal tone I took. It's about learning to separate the irrational from the verifiable, and we each get there in our own way and in our own time. I've no right to judge you just because I know some things and have some experience you don't. That's an opportunity for me to share something, not to throw anything.

So, I apologize for making it personal. On the facts, you're still wildly wrong.

Cheers!

Obama chooses to still belong to this same church with its new pastor:

Replacement Obama Pastor Just As Controversial As Wright
Wednesday, May 7, 2008 8:54 PM
By: Newsmax Staff
"“Well, the new pastor, the young pastor, Reverend Otis Moss, is a wonderful young pastor,” Obama responded. “And as I said, I still very much value the Trinity community.”
...
"But a videotape of a sermon he delivered at Wright’s church shows this “wonderful young pastor” referring to “ghetto prophets” and “thug theology,” calling the late rapper Tupac Shakur a “prophet,” and reciting at length lyrics to Shakur’s song “Thugz Mansion.”
"Moss also states in the sermon:
“Jesus has a soft spot for thugs.”
“God is always using thugs to do God’s work.”
“Everyone has a little bit of thug in them.”
Noah was a “thug” who “was drinking much gin and juice and got drunk on the eve of reconstruction.”
Abraham “pimped his own wife.”
Jacob was a “hustler” who “stole his own brother’s birthright.”
Moses was a “thug” and “if he got mad would give you a royal beatdown.”
Sampson was a “thug” and a “player.”
David was a “thug,” a “shot caller,” and a “player,” and a man after God’s own heart.
“Jesus is on the cross being lynched between two thugs. The moment of execution, the moment of murder, Jesus, the son of God, is hanging out with thugs.”
