| Re: Are prostitutes the solution? Posted: 6/7/2004 5:10:09 PM | There was a cheesy Don Johnson- Melanie Griffith movie called Cherry 2000 put out years ago. In the movie, for a man to be with a woman at all for some lovin', he would have to deal with the woman and a lawyer. He would have to sign a contract with the woman.
If prostitution were to become legal in this country, that would be what happens. The majority of people in this country are too greedy. They would all want money for nookie. Hell they want it now! Thanks John Doe for bring that part of the prostitution perspective to mind.

Even make life partners of them. Besides...if sex is so easy and available to get...how come I ain't getting any? LOL!

| Re: Are prostitutes the solution? Posted: 7/8/2004 7:47:46 PM | I believe it should be legal for an entirely selfish reason. I live two buildings away from a major street corner in my city. Crack Wh/re central. If it were legalized, they could hang out elsewhere, post adds, ect.
Prostitution is legal in most parts of Canada, I am not sure about the US. Soliciting is what a person is charged with, either the hooker, or the john. If you want a cleaner hooker, just look in the yellow pages under escorts.

| Re: Are prostitutes the solution? Posted: 7/8/2004 8:43:06 PM | | Your right ticket, they are accepted as legitimate businesses. Escort agencies only get busted for hiring minors here in Ontario. The police here, do not even bother the crach wh/ores on my corner anymore. They bust them for disorderly conduct or some such crap. I personally believe it should be legal. i think that if the government is not going to enforce any law, it should be abolished. Now thay have started busting johns and sending then to an 8 hour course on std's and such, and the solitization charge is dropped. You can not legally barter a price in public for sexual favors, that is the whole basis of the law. | |

| Re: Are prostitutes the solution? Posted: 7/8/2004 8:49:25 PM | | Does not always work anymore. Undercover cops are given leeway in covert operations. A better way is to get her to name a price. If they name a price first, it's solitization, therefore against the law. An officer can not break the law in order to arrest someone, or for any other reason for that matter. | |

It is true, even if one cuts a deal with an escort service girl for exchange of sexual services, it is against the law. They however leave this zone completely alone, since they have their hands full with drug addicted prostitutes, prefering to lay drug charges as the case is usually much simpler. Never heard of anyone getting busted for it in at least 20 years.
There is the law and the practical application of the law. Not the same.

| Re: Are prostitutes the solution? Posted: 7/8/2004 9:02:53 PM | | I'd love to have a handgun. Best thing you can have is a shotgun, limited to 3 shots only in Canada. See, they think guns, not people kill. | |

| Re: Are prostitutes the solution? Posted: 7/8/2004 9:04:08 PM | good question eh? You know for 14 years I had bail money with about 10 friends for when I got arrested again. I think it was somewhere around 30 times, I paid over $22,000.00 in legals, it cost the region over $322,000.00 and I never was convicted of anything, all because I decided I wanted to own a porno store.
