Racygirl,

. . . A guy can piss off when finding out about it a woman cant. . . .

Its actually the other way around.
A woman can opt legally out of motherhood - a man can not.
The moment after a man had his 'seven seconds of glory' he has limited say what happens (to the next 18 years and nine months) of his life .
She will decide. And she can change her mind as often as she likes.
She might get another boyfriend the next day and stay with him for 12 years.
Then she might decide that the 12 year olds child biological father should contribute
and the taxation office will hunt him down for her and make him contribute.
(I know a guy in taxation who does just that - hunts men down.)
He might be happily married with wife and 4 kids. Doesnt matter.
He never knew he had another child, because she was under no obligation to tell him.
But she can step in and f*ck up his life anytime that suits her with the blessing of the courts.

The male contraceptive pill will be legally the only sane thing to do for males.

The pill for women doesn't trick the body into believing it is pregnant, afterall, women do still ovulate when they are pregnant. What do you think feeds the fetus? Our food that we eat, that could be said in a country such as ours, but how do you explain 3rd world countries where many are starving such as Ethiopia? Women still produce, don't they?

Two people become parents, not just one. With all the talk of child raising that goes on in these forums, being that the father also must contribute to the raising of the child, both financially and spiritually, it no longer becomes an issue of who carries that said child.

Condoms is my prefered choice, whether it be male or female ones. I am aware that the sensation is not quite the same for men, but if you don't want children, or a disease, one does need to make sacrifices.

Regardless if you are male or female, the pill will never protect you against AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, but a condom will.

Further more, if you think you are too well endowed to fit into one, I have seen people put one over their head, and if you are that big, go away! I don't want that!

Umm...nutrients and oxygen pass through the thin membrane from the maternal blood circulation to the placenta. And carbon dioxide goes back. Which is why the baby will die if the placenta separates from the wall of the womb. Or their growth is severely compromised if there is a partial separation.

Ha Ha Ha ...Just got a hilarious mental image of a bunch on men quaking in fear of the slow chink....chink...chink.. sound of spurs as the 5 foot 2bespectacled jewish accountant walks slowly down the street, six shooter in one hand, calculator in the other.

As much as I agree with you I reckon you're gonna need his gun when the single mums around here start flaming you.

Actually I thought it sounded hideously inequitable.

I know a bird that shot through with a new love, leaving her kids with her ex mother-in-law. She legally gave custody of them up and has no more responsibility. I was horrified really. I cant imagine what effect that would have on her daughters, knowing that their mother didn't want them.

I dont know what powers the gun-toting jewish tax accountant might have but there is limited recourse if the father goes over seas. They can write and threaten but they have no legal ability to dock their tax in the UK for example.

True, but that wasnt my point.
My point was that only the woman has a choice to become a mother.
She can make up her mind for three months after intercourse - legally.
A man doesnt even get an hour to decide if he wants to father a child - she will make that decision for him.

Most likely true, but that wasnt my point.
A single stay at home dad with four kids chasing their biological mother for contributions in the UK would have the same problem.

My point was, when it comes to motherhood,
women have a choice by law to opt out of motherhood
- men dont have a choice to opt out of fatherhood.

Bad luck you might say, but wouldnt that be a good reason for a guy to see 'commitment' as a one way street?

You see, you do have a choice. Wear a condom and no child, don't wear a condom, accept the consequences! The way I see it, there would be no need for decission making for the male or the female if the child does not exist. All else failing, don't sleep with someone who you don't consider a parent.

I have known some men to opt out of fatherhood, although I do not agree with this. I have also seen some women opt out of motherhood, to which I also do not agree.

I have seen first hand of both men and women abandoning their children. I do not agree with this, but I also don't choose to bury my head in the sand. It does happen.

I have known some men to not have the full capabilities of raising children, also some mothers.

I can't say that the condom is tried and true, but I can say that I have never fallen pregnant when using one. What tests prove that the male pill will work? It hasn't been around for as long as the female pill has, so there is always going to be a hot debate about it. Sometimes even the female pill doesn't work.

Well I was hoping for a little micro-chip....My thought was I could meet a woman in a bar, get some idle chat happening, she could scan me, beep, and away we go.....

Actually, that's one good thing about the implanon rod...you can actually feel it sitting under the skin of the arm when you touch it. So, kind of like your scanning idea Briz, you can check she has one in a way you just can't check whether she has taken her pill. You could adopt a "if it's not in, it's not on" approach.

Would it be considered bad manners or inappropriate if I asked her to sit on the edge of the stool so I could check if she has an IUD?.....touching of the arm may be too personal.....lol

In the absence of contraception a males choice by law expires when he ejaculates.
In the absence of contraception a females choice by law expires three months after the male ejaculated.

This might be hard to understand, so let me me put it another way:

Males have two choices:
1 have or have not intercourse.
2 use or use not contraception.

Females have three choices:
1 have or have not intercourse.
2 use or use not contraception.
3 complete or terminate pregnancy (opt out of 'motherhood')

(Yes i know, its HER body - but its THEIR child !)
Before we assume that 'he' is a **stard - consider cases where he wants the child, but she doesnt.

Wouldnt it be only fair and just if men had three months to decide if they want to be a childs father?

In the meantime, any form of somewhat reliable contraception (including the male contraceptive pill) is welcome.

Has to make the companies money or they wont research it.
The kind of guys who would take such a pill have already had a snip job anyway. So the drug companies would make very little out of the few who havent.
