Leather and lid in Sussex still means scary hairy biker, a throw back to the '60's mods and rockers, at Black Rock (Ace cafe run). Anyway the anti bikers haven't got into the subtlties of the fact that there may be more than one gender capable of riding a bike.
I can be very boring, when stopping for a pub lunch. Street life and lads mags are two different worlds.
Personally, my bike doesnt throb - it purrs (SV650s). I don't give a stuff whether I look tarty or not, but then I don't drape, I am too busy enjoying riding to notice.........
I do have to admit that if I break down, I am stuffed. Not because I am a girl, nor that the bike is all electronics...... its because I am not carrying a handbag full of useful tools or lippy.
Deathwish racers look away now.... because with or without a handbag, I am happy to admit I ride like a girl.

Posted: 7/21/2008 5:01:44 PM | Well well, what is it with these people......Have ridden motorcycles for 25 years , my dad rode 1 also mum/sis/brother...Yes, my motorcycle is my only form of transport and yes, I love motorcycles .......so why is it that people have to criticise and label? Also its guys who like to see girlie's straddled on shiny motorcycles (check out all the bike mags?) I don't class myself as calender-ish or tacky , but being as 'motorcycles have been a male orientated business then maybe you should ask a biker guy  Dark Knight :)  | |

The world doesn't revolve around you , so spend your time finding a hobby where you might end up meeting someone that has the same interests as you. I'm sure someone who looks at you is saying "what is so appealing about you." Move on and leave us bikers out of your whining, pitiful threads. | |

Nothing wrong at all with women riding or draped over motorcycles, in fact i find that a woman who loves bikes or rides one herself is more attuned to my way of thinking and the lifestyle that owning a bike holds.
One thing i would like to ask the female bikers is do you get treated any differently because you own a bike ? What i mean is do you have people running in the opposite direction because you own one and wear a leather jacket ?
Happens to me a lot, not that i mind tho, if people dont like someone because of it then there needs to be some serious growing up done, just because we ride bikes doesnt mean we drink meths and bite the heads off chickens ! | |

But I don't think it' s just bikes anyway. I think some men see some women in certain situations as a threat to their maleness. They can't handle it so they try to put the women down in whichever way they can.
I would say reassess yourself because true men and true women aren't ever intimidated by what the other does. | |

Posted: 7/22/2008 5:36:16 AM | The thing I have noticed about women bikers is that they are usually gagging for it. I think it's something to do with the leathers or the vibrations from the bike. But, if you catch one at the right time you're usually guaranteed a pretty wild ride.
Having said that if you catch one at the wrong time she'll probably be more likely to kick your head in than a non biker.
It's the risks that make life interesting though. | |

It looks neither appealing nor unappealing to me, as motorcycles are something I grew out of. | |
