I don't qualify for this discussion. I can't go as is, unless I get the call within five minutes of coming home from work.

See, they have these laws here that say you have to wear clothes in public....

I'm going to have to go with NO on this one. I am a pretty casual person, but a busy person as well. I, more than likely, have my day planned out already, to an extent. I'm not inflexible, but I'm not a spur-of-the-moment person either.

As some of the others have mentioned, I would like to look a bit nicer for a first date than how I look after I've been mowing the yard.

This actually happened to me a couple of weeks ago as it were. Was asked to meet for a beer by this woman who I had spent maybe 11 minutes talking to via MSN, which I thought was strange because I was under the impression that women didn't do that. But whatever. Threw on a pair of shorts and a t-shirt and met her and spent the next four hours chatting at a local pub. Was fun and relaxed.

If i like the guy, i dont care...on a good day it only takes me 30 min from head to toe..low maintenance, lol. I would go in a heart beat and have done so in the past. Love being spontaneous!

You're not busy...just hanging around the house, kinda bored.

I don't understand this situation in the least. If you had no plans, why didn't you make plans to meet, anyway? You were obviously free, you knew you would be, or something got canceled and you had absolutely no back up plans?

This must be why guys get so angry when I tell them I can't meet them after one email. People here are doing nothing else. After work: no plans, appointments, housework. On the weekends: no plans, appointments, housework.

Brings more ammo to my knee jerk reaction to "spontaneity." Code for, "I was bored anyway, so I started going down the list to see who's free."

If I'm ever in the situation where all the plans fell through at the last minute and I have no backlog of work or errands, yes, I'd go down the list seeing who is available and not wig out about how anyone looked, since I never do anyway in a social situation. The last time all my plans fells through at the last minute and I had an hour of nothing I needed to do, I was in a restaurant cracking up, txting friends to see who was free since my blind date, who set the table on fire moments ago, ran out screaming, drove off and left me stranded.

Unless I just got out of the hoglot I'd jump at the chance! If I were dirty I'd just explain and ask if they could wait 20 minutes til I had a shower and decent clothes.

Nopes sorry

I am in sweats, some old raggedy shirt, my hair is a hot mess.No.

I would not want a guy to go out with me in a wife beater and some old shorts looking like a bum so I wouldn't do that. I wouldn't feel comfortable like that anyway (even if he didn't mind) and if I don't feel comfortable I am not gonna have a good time.

I have gone on plenty of dates as is. Nothing special, just show up. Some people put me instantly into a friend mold over that. Others have pointed out they were disappointed that I kept to my word by not dressing special.

Spontaneity is something people love, but good looking non laziness is better.

I know I would go as is right now. I've had an extremely important date with an ex from 9 years ago that I haven't seen for 9 years. I was totally haggared from driving 8 hours to my cousin's graduation party. I got home and went to change, well I hadn't done laundry in a week from being gone on vacation (I came back for the graduation). I went wearing clothes I picked up off the floor.

But you know what, the chemistry mattered a lot more than how haggared, tired or how shabby I looked.

OF COURSE!!! why not show a man the "true" you :)
I met a guy in sweats, wife beater , flip flops and had just gotten a haircut so had hair all over me. He called and talked me into coming the way i was... Ended up being one of the BEST dates Ive ever had..... and still date this fellow :)
I don't wear makeup so thats never been an issue.... and no hair spray or gluey gel.

I don't do the whole make-up thing most days anyways--and am usually found in jeans & tee's. So to run out the door in a moments notice -- nothing unusual about that.

I've gone to walmart in my jammies with my friends and actually met a couple of guys while we were there. Had coffee after too...made for an interesting evening.

LOL... no!

I would make sure I looked presentable, even if in comfort clothing.
I would most certainly at least put on clean clothes, I would not want anyone to have an impression I do not take care of myself or care about myself.

I also would not go out of the house in pajama's or to the store with curlers and slippers...... yikes!

Yes...yes.....yes!!!

You only have one chance to make a good first impression......if someone likes you while you are not at your best, it could be a good thing.........unless you look better that way.......If that is the case.....it's a win win stuation!

Sure, especially in the summertime. Some of the best times you can have are spontaneous - like - art fairs, farmer's markets, garage sales, picnic in the park, go for a walk because it's a beautiful day.
