| random question game Posted: 6/6/2008 6:33:51 PM | Answer: No, No, No and No The good and the bad of what I have been through in my life has made me an incredibly optimistic person that the BEST is yet to come. It was once said:
When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us. Helen Keller and I would be afraid that I might miss that new open door by glancing too often at the closed one.

Question: What is your favorite childhood book and why?
|
| random question game Posted: 6/11/2008 7:41:38 AM | not sure if it's really a childrens book... but I left things like 'Clifford the Big Red Dog' behind at about age 6.... so Watership Down by Richard Adams, yes the one about rabbits... I was 11 or so when I read it the first time and I believe it was the first book that I just couldn't put down. I think it was the british writing style, and the author's elaborate descriptiveness that kept me hooked. I was not so pleased with the rest of his works, not quite as good... with the exception of 'Maia'... interesting bit of sex and kink in that one . ;)
What movie did you anticipate the most, recent or past?
|
| random question game Posted: 6/11/2008 4:09:41 PM | Wow...that's a good question. I have thought alot on this and I remember as a kid where I couldn't wait for Benji ( I know I am telling my age and sentimental). Loved it back then. recently it was Haispray...just love John Travolta...The bad thing is I can see a movie and love it to the point where I can't wait for the sequel or something and then I get so disappointed. Like the Rocky movies , Grease, Rush Hour, etc.

Question, who influenced you the most ?
|
| random question game Posted: 6/11/2008 6:37:22 PM | My Step Mother - Louise. Took all of us step-kids in as teenagers and has been a positive 'mother' and 'step-mother' role model for me. She is my mentor and my friend and has been perfectly honest with me about "life" and all of it's ups and downs.
She could have walked away many, many years ago but stayed. She and my dad have been married close to 35 years now.. her 3rd and his 2nd. Proof that there is such as thing as a marriage that lasts - it just doesn't mean it has to be the first one.
Who was your 'first' crush when you were a kid.... what did he/she look like?
|
| random question game Posted: 6/11/2008 7:36:13 PM | OK let us hope that he never reads this...but Michael Sullivan in St Patricks School (yes folks...hopelessly Irish/Catholic) in Fayetteville North Carolina in seventh grade...before then I was convinced that I was going to be a nun (as most of us Catholic girls were) and then we were assigned to clean out the convent's basement...he kissed me...my first REAL kiss...and there went my career as a nun....sigh
Question: If you were to introduce yourself to a prospective suitor, what three things would you like them to know about yourself? 1) 2) 3) (hubba hubba on the asian pear up there scotlandforever)
|
| random question game Posted: 6/14/2008 7:05:57 AM | OK anglergrl - you've asked a tough question (again)
1) Yes, I am really single and not married - I do not have a boyfried hiding in the closet somewhere or one that visits me when he comes back into town. Please note that I don't have a 'dent' on my ring finger (lol) when you meet me. 2) Yes, I have my priorities in order: Be there for my teenager, show up to work every day,pay the bills on time, etc.. and if anything is left over use that $$ to play with. 3) I'm motivated & I like a challange. If I'm not good at something I don't just 'give up'. I try to improve my knowledge or performance. If it is out of my realm, I will concede and find an expert / ask for help.
What is the absolute WORST food experience you've ever had?
|
| random question game Posted: 6/14/2008 3:01:19 PM | Good answer mmagnet!!
In answer to your question I will put this in a POF perspective...I had someone I had met online...we did the usual, email, IM, and then the phone. We found that we were extremely compatible on the phone and talked for a few times...and decided to meet. As this person lived in Portsmouth, we decided to meet in Portsmouth and take the water taxi over to Waterside and have dinner. We met as agreed, and he said "Well, I guess we are driving" - I knew immediately that he did not think that we were a match...and I was surprised at how cold and callous his demeanor turned. We drove to Norfolk and went to Mo and OMalleys and it came time for me to order. I ordered and the waitress said..."and your order sir?" - to which he answered "I am not hungry". I was stunned...the food came and I sat there eating while he just looked at me. Longest dinner of my life...and longest car ride from Norfolk to Portsmouth where my car was. Not sure that this is the food experience you were looking for...but that one date was the reason I plan so many "Meet and Greets" for POF...I think that there is something lost in this day and age of internet dating. We can be our real selves in a "Meet and Greet" - and take it or leave it...it is who we are. From a worst food experience came a calling to make it easier for people to meet each other.
QUESTION In honor of all the wonderful Fathers out there and Father's day - what are the three things you are most proud of in being your father's son or daughter??

| random question game Posted: 6/15/2008 8:49:27 AM | #1 - He taught high school English for 30+ years and had high expectations for his students (tough teacher) He helped many get into college and layed a firm foundation for them to succeed in life.... Students still send him Christmas cards after all these years. #2- He volunteers for Love, Inc. which helps disadvantaged families with food, clothing, job searches and household goods. He helps them establish budgets and good spending habits to try to get them out of their financial situations. #3 - He helps the grandkids with any and all homework they may have... 68 years old and he STILL can remember formulas, chemistry, OMG he's walking text book! Who do you currently have a crush on? Do they know?

|
| random question game Posted: 6/15/2008 9:17:36 AM | Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the mythical crush. Crushes come and go...whimsically teasing our brains into such a frenzy that we barely know where to stop and get off of the Whimsey Express Freight train...but then again we line up at the station for yet another ride...sigh
Part of a woman's charm remains her ability to keep such secrets to herself. I myself would love to find a man that challenged my mind, intellect and who could make my heart dance while we pushed the envelopes that were limited by only our imagination.
Question: If you could have a dream job and completely change your careerpath, what would it be?
| |
|
| random question game Posted: 6/15/2008 4:11:30 PM | Another great question from anglergrl...
I currently work with local government computer systems and this is okay but at times it can be without human contact-just the computer , the software and me.
If I could have the perfect job it would be something dealing with people and feelng like I make a difference. Something that would connect people like with parents and child adoptions or people looking for loved ones.
Question: Which would you choose and why: go back in your past or go forward to your future?
|
| random question game Posted: 6/16/2008 8:13:09 AM | hmmm... i had a few points in the past that were just unimaginably wonderful... and although the future isn't terribly bright, it is however, uncertain, and great things could be hiding just around the bend... so how does one really answer this? I don't think I can give a good one here... so I'll just say past... to one special moment that will always stay in my mind.
Denise... ouch about the dinner thing... what a tool... if you ever want to have lunch with me, it would be way better... promise.
to backtrack a little.. I want to post my first crush.. and I hope she DOES see it, just to get a little laugh.
Her name is (was?.. likely married now) Stacie Hacker, it was 4th grade in Fowlerville Michigan, she always had a perfect smile, and a tiny mole on her upper lip... guess you'd call that a beauty mark... we just kids, but I still remember our first kiss, and it still makes me smile, I hope shes doing ok, wherever she is.
What's the WORST band you have ever seen live?... mine was "El Destroyo"... opener for Violent Femmes, State theater, downtown Detroit, winter 1999
