| Best Horror movie ever!! Posted: 5/6/2008 5:04:01 PM | Wetting myself at your two posts, Pookie...but I think Kym Beasley would be the horriblest (deliberate sp. error) of all!
I am not very good at horror movies - they come back to haunt me at odd times. When I was about 12 I watched Jaws....and I couldn't swim in our crystal clear in ground pool for about 6 months if I was by myself!

| Best Horror movie ever!! Posted: 5/6/2008 5:50:23 PM | No...they're for soccer training, Baron! Just as a piece of completely useless information, the chair at our computer has a plastic cover on the seat - very handy for when I come in here. | |

| Best Horror movie ever!! Posted: 5/6/2008 7:26:52 PM | Oh did you mean a blood and guts movie kinda thing ?...okey dokey...I thought we were talking genuinely scarey movies..sorry.
Um I admit that I was genuinely really really scared the first time I saw "The Blair Witch Project", the thought of trudging around days and days in the cold dark woods, with heavy backpacks on, only at the end of the day to do that camping thing...truly scared the shite of of me !!!...I so felt for those poor people !!! forget those little bundle of sticks outside their tents each morning,,,they were just twigs for Christ Sakes..all that rough sleeping was the scariest part of the movie.
Ok on a serious note...I saw a movie many many years ago called The Changeling with George C Scott..Im vague on the storyline (involved a ghost) but saw it at the movies and I can honestly say I was creeped out.... !!!

| Best Horror movie ever!! Posted: 5/7/2008 6:56:08 AM | | Evil Dead would have to be one of the funniest movies i've ever seen. | |
|
| Best Horror movie ever!! Posted: 5/7/2008 10:51:26 AM | @Coal Chamber: I have to agree.
Evil Dead is one of those 'gore-horror' movies which attempts to scare using the wrong elements. Makes for a good action or comedy (if your sense of humour swings that way) but fails on multiple levels in terms of horror.
Gives me the shits how often "horror" movies try too hard to be scary and the end result is a predictable slasher movie with no plot other than to kill everyone off other than the lead character who is painfully identified within the first 3 seconds of the movie.
And people wonder why I prefer Japanese horror movies to anything else, because they at least understand the concept of using pyschological terror effectively. I can still go back and watch Ring or Ju-On and get chills despite knowing them almost off by heart. The gore horror movies is a category I'll sit down and eat a meal while watching and more often than not laugh during at least 3 or 4 times.

| Best Horror movie ever!! Posted: 5/7/2008 2:44:17 PM | | "The Shining", without a doubt, though Blair Witch (probably the most successful film ever on the basis of box office takings : cost of production) really got me going too. Otherwise, I generally avoid the horror genre as they are usually pretty dumb; bad acting, cliched direction, over-use of special effects-CGI. I suppose they are aiming at a 12 year old audience for the main part. | |

| Best Horror movie ever!! Posted: 5/8/2008 2:11:29 PM | I love a good horror movie As a kid, "American Werewolf in London" scared the hell out of me.
I remember watching "Birds" as a kid too, didn't really scare me, but my cousin who I watched it with woudn't go out side to go to the toilet (toilet was about 10m away from the back door) as he was scared the chooks would get him. I still tease him about that one
Love Steven King movies "It" is scary "Carrie" "The Good Son" was good "Damien" is another good old one

Psycho was a classic for its time.... | Best Horror movie ever!! Posted: 5/9/2008 9:56:46 PM | 'Event Horizon'. There is no comparison.
The most visceral movie would be the first Saw- by far the most confrontational. Not really horror as such, but it does create a certain empathy that affected me stronger than any other such movie.
