| Best Horror movie ever!! Posted: 5/14/2008 2:41:04 AM | Saw Cloverfield on the plane - an interesting monster movie done in the style of Blair Witch Project.
You don't notice some really cool shots just slightly out of the centre of the frame.
The characters are fairly boring; but still enough interesting things in the movie to be worthing seeing

| Best Horror movie ever!! Posted: 5/14/2008 3:05:00 AM | yeah Cloverfield was weird huh, I found the whole timelapse thing backwards and forwards very confusing, then I'm easily confused lol but apparently there's gonna be a sequel, should be interesting

| Best Horror movie ever!! Posted: 5/14/2008 3:12:27 AM | I can't see a sequel to cloverfield being good - there was sequals to blair witch project which apparently was really awful (I haven't seen them)
Cloverfield is in the same style as Blair Witch bith in conception and marketing so any sequels would be crap I believe.
I think Blair Wotch Project is a great horrer film - I love the fact that the punchline is given in the first five minutes in an off hand manner so you don't pick it up.
And the scene where she is confessing her life at the ens is great.

I can't see a sequel to cloverfield being good
If they make a sequel to Cloverfield it needs to be like a normal movie. Like the President had just watched that sd card as part of a decision about where to go from there. I think it could be good if done like that!!
|
| Best Horror movie ever!! Posted: 5/14/2008 3:24:04 AM | "SD card"
what is a sd card? Are you describing Independence Day when the president aka Bill Pullman saves the day in fighter planes (well along with Jeff Goldblum plugging the virus somehow into their computer system? and I cant get workd, excel and power point to work properly)
Another interesting horror film recently is Wolf Creek - a slow paced film for the first half trying to gain sympathy for the main characters. I must admit i liked the awkward kssing scenes at the meteor sight - I can relate to that.
It is unusual for the bad guy to walk off into the sunset at the end of the film without being defeated - escape yes but defeated no. You find in most horror films that while the audience is excited by the horror, in the end the baddy dies (although resurrected at the end for the sequel)
wolf creek didn't offer that escape clause for the audience

| Best Horror movie ever!! Posted: 7/1/2008 5:01:29 PM | well Darkstanley, three of my favs would have to be "Sleeping with the enemy" with Julia Roberts and Patrick Bergen, "Fatal Attraction" with Glenn Close and Michael Douglas, and the "Shining" with Jack Nicholson. Whilst they arnt the most "gory" of horror movies, the suspence, storylines and acting are superb. They get the hands up from me for "must sees".

| Best Horror movie ever!! Posted: 7/4/2008 8:11:44 AM | | I really enjoy scary movies but rarely do I get scared. However, when I was much younger the first Alien movie had me on the edge of my seat, also the first Predator and the first Jeepers Creepers. | |

| Best Horror movie ever!! Posted: 7/4/2008 4:50:20 PM | Unfortunately after reading tooooo much Stephen King and Dean Koontz as a kid I find most horror these days a little funny. No onecan beat the horror movie in your own head while reading.
I was told I am Legend was supposed to be scary - No and Wolf Creek was comedic for me...............................
As for wanting to know how many women really like horror movies - I think we would like to be watching curled up with a nice strong bloke who would protect us from anything - in most cases the only bloke we trust completely to do this is our dad hehehehehehehehehehe

| Best Horror movie ever!! Posted: 7/5/2008 3:10:13 AM | The Evil Dead.
Saw this in the 1980's. Mega suspense and mega sh1t-yourself stuff. Especially when the zombie's head got caught in the trap door - the girl jumped on it and it popped the zombie's eye out and it flew across the room (in slow motion) into the mouth of another screaming victim.
Good stuff. | |

| Best Horror movie ever!! Posted: 7/5/2008 11:17:20 AM | I agree with Bretsky1960. The movies that are more "real" are the scarier ones. Other than the ones he mentioned, there is Hitchcock's Wait Until Dark. I had never heard men scream until I went to a showing of that when I was in college. Suspense, suspense, suspense, and then wham!!! Very cool. Deliverance scared the cr.. I mean heck out of me. Cape Fear, Jaws, Fatal Attraction, Silence of the Lambs.
As far as the "unreal" scary ones. Exorcist, The Other (not the Nicole Kidman one), I remember as a child watching the original "The Haunting" on tv. I was scared at night for many years. The flying monkeys in the Wizard of Oz! LOL
Although I admit the movie that scared me the most was the original Halloween. It was the last slasher movie I saw. I was 7 months pregnant and my then husband and I went to see it. The next day he went on a business trip. I would lock every door in the house, jam a chair against the bedroom door and slept with his hunting knife on the table next to the bed. Yikes, I have too much imagination.
Fun topic! Thanks | |
