We dont need gimmicks. We need a windfall tax that will go to automakers to retool to build ultra-efficient engines and government mandages on them for fuel efficiency.
This is a plank in the Clinton Platform... And I would assume she will use here Juice at the Convention to push to make it a party plank... | |

Policy decided... A Platform .... Planks.... Little things like Civil Rights....
I don't think Hope and Change will be in it....
This has not happened for some time.
Planks ... Lots of deals will be made... Health care... Energy ... Trade ... That is how the party works.

If the oil companies are taxed to cover the amount of tax you save --- they will just jack up the price of gas more to cover their losses.

If that hopeless and helplessness is real, and it is, then so isnt hope and the possibility of change.

A woman is the only person saying do something.......
A woman that's been in Congress for 8 years who could have said it before fighting for political survival. That goes to say for any candidate in a campaign that's held a seat of policymaking just coming up with policies from the hip when these ideas could have come from behind their desks before now.
If she or anyone had proposed this last year or 6 months ago I would have considered "is this good or bad?". When it's thrown out there to say "let's see how many bunnies chase after this carrot", I resent people wanting to lead me considering me to be a bunny.

The McCain Tax cut.... No one wants to pay taxes. It has to bite the pocket book to get people interested ...
I believe there have been many mentions of a wind fall tax, and I am sure Clinton said something about that...
no one gives a crap except the Oil companies, so that is a dead issue...
When people think they can save a penny things can happen... I saw this as a way to tax huge wind fall profits, gain the Needed Public support.
It isn't going to happen... From now on the issue will be the McCain Tax cut and how he is looking out for you... | |

but like itcheman pointed out again, this is nothing more than pandering. I too thought it courageous of her when she said that...then I realized she's got nothing to lose because she's not going to win. I'd love to see it become part of the plank as it were.
Frankly, oil is a national security issue simply because of our intense dependency on it. We need to get off the oil teat and work for some real long term solutions, but my solution would be for state control of oil, solely because of it being a national security issue, if we had a state that was honest....
....there is another side to this....things are going to change because of what is happening with oil. Start figuring out a different line of work if your line heavily depends on it. I mean we've known oil is a finite resource since....forever? and we act all surprised and made when that resource is getting more finite? Time to take the blinders off and come up with some strategies that incorporate those around you to help ease each other burdens. | |

This is a McCain issue from now on. I don't support it and never will . It is pandering on many levels....
The Clinton Proposal would go nowhere in congress. No Tax on Oil will. In fact Taxpayers will soon be ask to help them out...
The GOP introduced a bill with many Tax incentives last week.
As for Change... Independent Truckers don't have many options... they are stuck... or Bankrupt...
Those Huge Oil company profits are coming right out of small Business checking accounts... | |
