The irony in this thread is that if there was a job opening for a man to get paid $300.00/hr to have sex with women, the line of applicants would stretch for miles and few if any of those applicants would expect working a few years to come back and haunt them. You hear this all the time. The part you conveniently forget is that those men will only get paid to have sex with women that they wouldn't want to have sex with, and probably couldn't get it up for in the first place. But viagra has changed all that. I expect to see more male prostitutes/call 'boys' as more and more women reach the higher income brackets, still feel that they should only marry 'up', feel that they cannot find 'acceptable' mates, and get old and never marry, then wind up alone. Of course, they can always do what they do now, buy a vibrator for sexual satisfaction and raise a herd of cats for companionship. | |

| Prostitutes! Posted: 5/22/2008 8:51:10 PM | I wonder? What.......
would happen if the man that was stripped of his career ,money and power would have to go into house arrest for say 3 years with the prostitute he was caught ? Instead of putting money into the donation box at the bothel. or gambling our life away... Or pouring life into another addiction .. alcohol, drugs all ways to stay in fanasty ,to numb reality.
I could not marry any of the three . I already know what it is like to live with one of the above. I would not want to repeat. | |

| Prostitutes! Posted: 5/26/2008 9:53:32 PM | Abelian Should Prostituion be legal? If I havent lived it, I cannot truly understand the experience or claim to be an authority.
You are off the market (As in Monogomous? ).. except a woman can email you if she maybe someone your girlfriend finds attractive??? I think that is fair. What if she finds another man she is attracted to? If you are truly open does it matter who what gender the 3rd person is? Just reffering back to your post from 5/19/08 and to Well reading your profile. What do you consider are the best ways to protect yourself? I did read eariler that you prefer monogomy. Why is that? I do think you are an honest person . I think interesting that you have no problem dating a practicing escort. But you would not marry one? If a prostitute is such a good actress , can you truly trust one?
Abelian are you promoting prostituion? Is this something you would suggest as the best career for women? The safest , cleanest work enviroment? Would you suggest this to young women trying to fund college?
How can you really say a Prostitute is better informed or more responsible than other women? I definetly do my best to stay Heathly. As a mother I have more than just mysel to consider. I cannot afford to become ill. I would have no problem taking std test and Wait for the results before having sex with someone. Can a prostitute or escort say the same? I would not consider monogomy the ultimate way to protect myself. Ignorance is not always bliss. You are right people are not always faithful. I would forgive. It would be hard to continue the relationship once trust is breached. I would definetly get my self tested.
I really do think it is important everyone to learn about STD and how it can be spread. Many std can be spread outiside normal use of condoms. Look up Herpes and HPV for example.
And Abelian No, I did not just learn these things just yesterday. | |

Do a thread search and you'll finds tons of people who think prostitution should be legalized.
most of the questions you're asking have already been answered. | |

| Prostitutes! Posted: 5/27/2008 7:05:51 PM | "I would rather be with a prostitute than with the "john" who just paid for her/his services but who has no respect for her/him as a human being and who sees her/him as a semen receptacle only. "
no respect for human beings... kind of like many bleeding hearts who think prostitutes can't think for themselves and bash johns and blame them for all sorts of crimes? the "johns" are usually the ones who treat prostitutes with the most respect. because the rest of society thinks prostitutes are trash.
Ok Zain .. that was your previous post. this is the confustion.. johns either see women as semen receptacle or on the 2nd paragrah they are the only ones that treat prostitues with the most respect , everyone says they are trash.. Which is it?
It is same confusion saying I prefer monogomy.. but if invite publicly a 3rd person to get inbetween myself and my boyfriend /husband.. is that person poly or mono?
now if I was your underage girl friend or family member, would these answer not be confusing , especially if i was the next generation, the one to see legalized prostitution You are right looking up other threads might be helpful.. perhaps ... | |

| Prostitutes! Posted: 5/27/2008 7:24:11 PM | | Prostitution is illegal, without a license. Just remember you are breaking the law. To be married to a prostitute would make you an accomplice to a crime. It is a Class 6 Felony. Do what you want.... but know and understand the law for which you could be prosecuted. I believe in allowing people to live their lifestyles, but also you need to know the law for which you can be prosecuted. | |

| Prostitutes! Posted: 5/27/2008 7:32:35 PM | | There's no way...even if I could handle the fact that they're having sex with other people, I could never fit into that world! I couldn't relate to his friends, how would I introduce him to my family? I could never give him oral...NEVER!!!!!!!!!!! yack!!! Yeah...definatley, no way!!!!!!!! I might be able to be a casual acquaintance or friend(no sex involved) but that's about it, and even then I have to question what we'd have in common? | |

| Prostitutes! Posted: 5/27/2008 8:11:03 PM | | Keep in mind that prostituion is illegal. You are associating with a person who is breaking the law. You could be held as an accomplice. | |

I'm not the one who said johns view prostitutes as semen receptacles I was quoting someone else. If you read the entire thread you'd know that.
"It is same confusion saying I prefer monogomy.. but if invite publicly a 3rd person to get inbetween myself and my boyfriend /husband.. is that person poly or mono?"
But I didn't contradict myself so what you are saying above is irrelevant.
"now if I was your underage girl friend or family member, would these answer not be confusing , especially if i was the next generation, the one to see legalized prostitution You are right looking up other threads might be helpful.. perhaps ... "
No they wouldn't because like I said I was quoting somebody else. There was no confusion or contradiction. | |

| Prostitutes! Posted: 5/27/2008 9:26:39 PM | Should Prostituion be legal?
Hard to say, but for different reasons than you probably imagine. In principle, yes, it should be legal. Sex is legal. I'm not sure why paying for sex directly should make it illegal. Technically, if one were to insist upon dinner in exchange for sex, that would qualify as prostitutiion (at least in Texas which doesn't require the payment to be cash.) Should someone be arrested if she says, ``I'll sleep with you if you buy dinner?''
However, whether or not legalizing it makes sense depends upon what that means. If escorts had to register as escorts and subject themselves to regulation, then there isn't much point in legalizing it. All of the escorts I've known (not necessarily intimately), have been single mothers who started escorting for financial reasons. Some, because it was difficult or impossible to find a job that paid well enough to make up for child support they weren't receiving, some because they could spend more time with their kids than if they worked a ``regular'' job, etc. They would certainly not want their names forever enshrined in public records, since none that I've met set out to become escorts as a career choice. Those who want to get out find it difficult because of the gap in employment, their inability to show some proof of s reliable income makes it hard to establish credit, obtain leases on their own, etc. If their names were recorded for some regulatory reason, they would probably be worse off in terms of getting out of escorting. All you have to do is read the posts in this thread to see what kind of stigma is attached to prostitution. Legalization won't change that. As a practical matter, the only escorts that would benefit from legalized but regulated prostitution are those who have already been arrested and whose names are already associated with prostitution in public records. The rest would probably continue to escort illegally.
You are off the market (As in Monogomous? ).. except a woman can email you if she maybe someone your girlfriend finds attractive???
I think you've read more into what I've said than I actually said. I try not to be judgmental about a lot of things. That doesn't mean I'm up for anything and just because I don't find something appealing doesn't mean I think no one else should. Your questions are well thought out and I don't mind answering them in more detail privately if you'd like to ask via email, but doing so here would digress from the thread topic and I'm not sure I want to read a lot more of the cliche replies that responding in detail here might generate.
What if she finds another man she is attracted to? If you are truly open does it matter who what gender the 3rd person is? J I'm not that open minded. If that works for some people, that's ok. The MFM thing doesn't work for me and neither does an open relationship. That probably will make you wonder how I reconcile that with dating an escort. I did that to some extent in my first post in this thread but, again, I'll answer it in detail privately if you really are curious. Ditto for my view on trust. Briefly though, I'll say that probably the last thing an escort wants to do is have more sex and dating one doesn't mean a non-stop sexual soiree. I'd say an escort might be less likely to cheat simply because whatever curiosity she had about men with regard to sex, has probably been satisfied,
What do you consider are the best ways to protect yourself? That is a very complicated question (unless you want me to say, ``don't have sex''). About the only thing I could say in general, is be informed enough to know what risks you are taking, decide what risks you are willing to take, don't count on anyone else assuming responsibility for your safety and act accordingly. I've had two girlfriends decide to stop taking birth control pills without actually telling me and had I not picked up on their intentions beforehand and refused to have sex without some form of of birth control, I might have kids I didn't plan to have. I've also had two girlfriends cheat on me, so I take nothing for granted.
I did read eariler that you prefer monogomy. Why is that?
Probably because I grew up with that idea instilled into me by my parents. Some attitudes are hard to shake and right off hand, I see no reason to try and change that attitude. It doesn't affect the way I view others.
I do think you are an honest person . I think interesting that you have no problem dating a practicing escort. But you would not marry one? If a prostitute is such a good actress , can you truly trust one?
First, thanks for presuming I'm basically honest. I try. Second, Yes, I did say that I would not marry a working prostitute, but would date one. That probably sounds inconsistent, but that's just how I feel about it. Actually, you could probably change ``marriage'' to ``committed relationship,'' (like living together.) I would not want to miss out on meeting the ideal person because she's an escort, but at the same time, I have certain idiosyncrisies regarding what a committed relationship ought to be. Others may have different ideas, but that's fine. Whatever works for them is what they should do.
Abelian are you promoting prostituion? Is this something you would suggest as the best career for women? The safest , cleanest work enviroment? Would you suggest this to young women trying to fund college?
I'm not promoting anything. I was answering the question posed by the OP and addressing what I believe, based on personal experience, are misconceptions. It's one thing for a person to decide something doesn't work for him/her, but it's quite another to make degrading comments about a group of people without having any personal knowledge upon which to base a comment of any sort.
As for ``safest, cleanest work environment,'' you are opening a real can of worms. If you want specifics, let me know, but the bottom line is that there are many, many jobs for which the working environment is considerably less clean, less safe and in some cases, outright hazardous, yet these jobs are not considered unacceptable. On several occasions when I was a graduate student, being paid a small stipend, I had to clean up radioactive debris due to equipment malfunction, wearing a mask and protective clothing. I also worked 60+ hours a week and this was more or less expected. Is that better or worse in terms of safety and working environment than being paid the same amount of money (or more) for spending one night with a client and having protected sex?
For a woman with several kids and a deadbeat husband who isn't paying child support, escorting could very well be the best choice for her if her priority is to spend time raising her kids and to give them the best shot for a good future. It might be the best choice as a means to do something else that requires training. It might be the best choice just because she likes the work. It depends on the person, but the one thing the escorts I've met have told me is that they do like the working conditions, i.e., flexible hours, high hourly rate. They don't necessarily like all of their clients or even most of them, but neither does any lawyer or any other professional.
I would have no problem taking std test and Wait for the results before having sex with someone. Can a prostitute or escort say the same?
In a sense, that is a non-sequitur, The escorts I've known get tested once every month or two monts, so in essence, waiting for tests to come back is something they do perpetually. For comparison, I used to have to wear a film badge which was picked up and checked once each month, yet I didn't stay home until the results came back. It's not quite the same, but then again, no one should do anything without understanding the risks. I never said that visiting escorts is risk free. I personally think it's less risky than casual sex with civilians, simply because most civilians don't want to believe they would sleep with someone who has an std - the ``I'm not one of those people,'' syndrome. Unfortunately, I am unaware of any well done study which quantifies the safety of seeing an escort vs casual sex with anyone else. I also can't speak for streetwalkers or addicts. I have no personal experience with escorts in the under $1500.00/overnight category. (While that might sound expensive, it's more or less the going rate for a ``typical independent,'' who advertises on the internet.) However, my own personal experience is that I would feel more comfortable in terms of std's with an escort than I would having casual sex with someone else or trusting someone to tell me the truth upfront regarding one of the more inconvenient infections like herpes. An escort has a lot of incentive to know if she is infected and to not work if she is, because infecting a client would be a death knell to her business, at least for the ones who rely on the internet to promote themselves. The internet can ``unpromote'' them in an instant.
You are right people are not always faithful. I would forgive. It would be hard to continue the relationship once trust is breached.
We reverse roles here. I would not (or at least on the two occassions it happened, I wasn't able to forgive.) I have a (possibly unreasonable) expectation when it comes to honoring committments. I know I didn't answer everything, but the reply is already long, drifting off topic and more detail would be better addressed privately if you wish to have me do so. | |

No, I don't think you understand the law so much as you want to exploit your interpretation of the law to fit an agenda. Since you are from Virginia, I'll refer to the Virginia criminal code:
--------------- 18.2-346. Being a prostitute or prostitution.
A. Any person who, for money or its equivalent, commits adultery, fornication or any act in violation of 18.2-361, or offers to commit adultery, fornication or any act in violation of 18.2-361 and thereafter does any substantial act in furtherance thereof, shall be guilty of being a prostitute, or prostitution, which shall be punishable as a Class 1 misdemeanor.
B. Any person who offers money or its equivalent to another for the purpose of engaging in sexual acts as enumerated above and thereafter does any substantial act in furtherance thereof shall be guilty of solicitation of prostitution and shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor. -----------------
Note that it does NOT say that merely referring to one's self as a prostitute consitutes being defined as one for legal purposes. You actually have to do something in the affirmative sense like offering to buy or sell sex to commit a crime under the statute (which are misdemeanors). That rules out your accomplice through marriage theory. If her husband assists her in her work, then he probably is committing the more serious act of pandering, but marriage is not a prerequisite for a pandering charge. In your state, merely making the offer isn't even sufficient to violate the statute. | |

Keep in mind that prostituion is illegal. You are associating with a person who is breaking the law. You could be held as an accomplice.
Associating with a person who breaks the law is not a crime. An accomplice is a person who actively assists someone in committing a crime. I;m sure you can find the exact legal definition relevant to your state via the web site that its legislature maintains for its citizens to peruse. | |

| Prostitutes! Posted: 5/27/2008 11:30:17 PM | Zain and Abelian I do respect that you are open and honest. Even with answers to questions many would not touch , let alone , truthfully answer. I have read other posts on this subject.
I do think it is difficult to put subject like prostitution in a nice neat box with a pretty ribbon on top.
Humans are not flat 2 dimential beings. That someone can stack in the above box and file away. Or catorgorize and file behind simple headings. Such as man, woman, husband ,wife. Polititian , cilvilian.. too many cross refferences.
I think open conversation is good even about sex. In searching for answers , I learn more about myself. I have two boys with tough questions that I am raising. The worst thing I could do would be to close down communication and openness with them.
I think abelian senses I have more questions. lol I do. I worked an 11 hour day and have to be up in a few hours. You are safe ,well for now. | |

| Prostitutes! Posted: 5/27/2008 11:42:04 PM | I think most men would not date a prostitute unless she was sharing her money with him. BUT I do think most men like the idea of their woman behaving like a Pro in the bedroom.
Where most women want a hero, who acts like a hero all the time. and she will keep quiet about what happens in the bedroom out of respect for him. | |
|
| Prostitutes! Posted: 7/25/2008 9:02:38 AM | I think what you don't understand is that some men LOVE the idea of having a 'Hot Wife'.
The given man already knows going in that she's intimate with other men.
You cannot be a jealous-type person to get into a relationship like that.
And the same thing goes for people considering an Open Relationship.
If you equate love with ownership/control ("I want you to be all mine"), having an open relationship, dating a stripper or dating an escort/prostitute is not for you.
But if you're the kind of person who thinks real love merely means being loving to eachother and doing things (and allowing eachother to do things) to increase the level of happiness and satisfaction, then you might be able to date and escort/prostitute.
One other thing... I think dating a prostitute is completely irrelevant whether prostitution is legal. Prostitution IS in fact legal. What is illegal is SOLICITATION for and LIVING OFF THE AVAILS of prostitution that is illegal. | |
|
| Prostitutes! Posted: 7/25/2008 9:20:01 AM | Note that my previous message related to Canadian law.
HOWEVER... in response to Abelian's post...
If I was in Virgina and got nailed for being married to a prostitute, I would challenge the law as a violation of our freedom of expression.
To be more specific, I would attack the case by attacking the definition of adultery.
In my beliefs, it isn't adultery if I know that my wife is with another guy with my conscent.
So for the state to forbid this is a violation of my freedom of expression.
If the state is smart, they'll drop the charges or risk having the Adultery law overturned altogether for being unconsitutional.
And if getting *paid* makes all the difference... well every day I prostitute my knowlege for the benefit of the company that employs me.
Every day I pay various people to get various services. I have even paid for a wedding, a trip to Italy and bought a home so I would have a person living with me to provide me with sex and various other services such as 'romance', cooking, cleaning, child bearing and a host of other things. Although I didn't give her the money directly, I gave it to her 'In kind' , which technically makes every stay-at-home wife or husband a prostitute.
If I got charged, I would go to war against the state. And that war would involve taking away their ability to charge people for 'adultery' type crimes because I would be going to court to have it ruled as unconstitutional.
And I have the smarts and probably have enough money to do that.
Many laws are on the books only because they haven't been passed the constitution test.
It happened here in Canada with same sex marriage.
It's also starting to happen in the US on the same issue. | |

| Prostitutes! Posted: 8/6/2008 5:05:27 AM | No would I want to. I do believe it should be legalized. That way they would have to have Doctor checkups monthly. They would also be licensed and pay taxes on their " trade ". This would stop a lot of the money going to criminals. Might even stop/slow down Slavery ?

| Prostitutes! Posted: 8/6/2008 8:40:48 AM | | I am a man to answer your question ,if I will date or marry a prostitute but I will share what I know about them. They are beautiful young women who from good /bad families who wants a fast bucks, they are mentally strong and can stomach anything in the name of money, they want expensive things that only the rich can afford, that is their compensation of their selfdisrespect. They support a boyfriend with money and true love, and they crave for real friendship. As a teenager I envy their material things but they discourage me to turn a trick because it is a *dirty*. What I learn from them is never give pleasure to a man for nothing,be the best of what ever you do and be the best of who you are. Some of my friends are married to americans, their past is a hush hush few are good wives and mothers and some are not... | |

| Prostitutes! Posted: 8/6/2008 1:40:35 PM | | Let's assume there are no such things as STD's or illicit drugs, and that prostitution were completely legal on planet Earth. I still wouldn't take a whore for a girlfriend because of the intimacy involved with other men (and women in some cases). She's supposed to be sharing her body with me and not with 100 different people a month. We should both be monogamous. | |
