Posted: 5/7/2008 11:36:09 PM | It's kind of ironic....I've been to singles groups in church....and you'd be suprised how many women I meet that are 1 or 2 times divorced. I met alot that kind of come from the "Upper Echelon" in society though. Come from wealthy families and such.
Found out this one pastor divorced her husband and re-married, and she's the current pastor of the church, they were the LAST I figured to get a divorced, they looked so "Beaver Cleaver-ish" lol.
These Christian marriages seem to be short-lived as well.
One even had this "Stepford Wife" thing goin', wierd. It's funny, they want that tall, handsome Christian man just as much as the secular people in the dating world. Guess they want good looking babies or something. lol
I have to admit, they are pretty good at masking what they really think of you. | |

2) Your "church girl" image is a thing of the past. Around here if you wanna buy drugs or meet a bunch of teenage moms, go to a christian school.
3) Lots. Not me though. Although if they seem like a fundamentalist of any religion I steer clear.
4) I don't feel that way, but many (perhaps most) people do. I love to learn and understand people who believe differently than I do. The more different they are the more fascinating it is to me. But I think most people just want someone to agree with them. Respecting others who believe differently is a rare virtue. | |

They say you can tell a lot by what a person stands for. Maybe they have had some experiances that evidently led them to add that question to the "list".
Don't worry in a few years everyone will be asking God? Who?
Or maybe they just want to know who God is to you to get an idea of "you". | |

2) Wild child? Their human too. All humans like fun. Its o.k. within their own marriage. They want to attact someone with the same level of passion.
3) (That they believe along the same lines?) Its better for any relationship that you be with someone that has the same moral values and beliefs. That way, you can pray with your spouse and go to church together. Its a pretty cool thing to experience. Being on the same level.
4) The new liberal thinking of the past 40 years is miserably failing and people want to go back to their roots. We want Mayberry USA, Leave it to Beaver etc back. That was a much better time in America. People went to church and even if they didnt really believe,,,,the country was united and the church instilled good values in the people from childhood as the Christian teaching were in the schools and every where. You have to admit....our society since they kicked God out of town...our society is in a tailspin spirialing down. We are going to crash and the wonderful country we got to enjoy for awhile....the athiest have stolen away that way of life and replacing it with their socialistic, bondage. I dont like the new world. IT STINKS.
With no Church...no God....little girls know everything prostitutes know before they are 18....little boys dont look at little girls with respect anymore....they call them the "bitches". ITS TOTAL INSANITY.. CANT BELIEVE THEY ALLOW THAT DISGUSTING MUSIC THAT DEFAMES WOMEN TO BE SOLD TO ANYONE. ITS PURE JUNK. HURTS OUR COUNTRY..
HAS ANYONE ELSE NOTICED BESIDES ME THAT OUR SOCIETY IS FALLING APART? It totally sucks bad. ITS ENTIRELY DUE TO THE LIBERALS TAKING GOD OUT OF EVERYTHING. It is fundamentalists and john birchers and islamic fundamentalists that are making this world bad and making people refuge in fear, not Atheists. if you want someone to blsame, look towards the fundamentalist who will make your "biblical prohecies" come true wether you like it or not. I'm definitely looking for a spiritual man and yes, he must love God, and he must be open to attending church some and enjoying whatever types of spiritual things we find or are inclined to share. I wouldn't have anything in common with someone who didn't love God so I make my interests very clear on my profile right up front.
It's my profile, so why shouldn't I make what I desire clear? I've settled for less in the past and by less, I mean settling for someone who didn't love God as I do and that means that God wasn't a priority in this person's life -- and this was obvious. We mixed about as well as oil and water. I don't ever want to be in a relationship again with someone who doesn't share my love for God.
People who sincerely and honestly love God are interested in making Him a priority in their lives and this is exhibited by them being good, kind, faithful, honest, generous, loving people. They also bring these qualities into their relationships. Unfortunately, these people are rare -- especially in these days and times.
It's hard to find these kinds of people because they don't necessarily always go to church but they are still devout in their beliefs. Sometimes they are loving God through their own individual, private spirituality, which is also fine. I do prefer that the person be a Christian, however, because I'm a Christian. I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and am saved thus I prefer that the man I choose as a future partner be someone that is saved as well. I'm not hardcore into religious dogma though and am not opposed to those of other religions like Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran, etc.. I won't get into arguments over religious dogma as I believe it's far more important to God that you live a Christ-like life in word and deed above all, though I know that most are far from perfect in this area.
Still, I'm looking for a decent human being who has morals, who will not mind my having morals. I'm seeking the real thing only and want someone who wants to return to the days when life was simpler and love was simpler, and when someone gave their word, that meant something.. | |

Yikes, did you forget your medication today? Talk about paranoid and delusional.
Socialistic? I think most atheists are secular humanists. Look it up and see how horrible it sounds to you.
Clearly atheists are taking over, seeing how they're like 12% or so of the population, and christians a mere 80+%. If your christian majority society makes decisions you dislike, why do you blame atheists? If your society is going downhill and the vast majority are christians, who do you think deserves most of the blame?
What bondage do you speak of btw? To me, indoctrinating children in one religion is bondage, and teaching them that all religions are equal and to make their own choices is freedom. To me, thinking your own religion is the only true one and thinking that members of your own religion are the moral ones is bondage, and seeing that other people's faiths and spirituality are equal to your own is freedom. Having the open-mind and humility to see the beauty in those who see things a little differently than you is freedom. Accepting others who believe differently is freedom. Seeing the beauty in others, regardless of their beliefs, is freedom. | |

Posted: 5/8/2008 12:20:19 AM | Norse Vicking: I have to agree with some of what you've said. I have known Atheist, in general they do not "believe", but, they do have a strong sense of good/bad/ wright/wrong.
It is people that hide behind a religion when in actual fact they teach hate. They teach hate to destroy races and freedom of religion. They teach hate to validate the anger and keep the anger growing in their heart.
When I was younger I went to a church and our preacher taught that no matter what "faith" you claimed as long as you believed in God "you are my brethern".
I see things like this:
As parents of children, which God is Our Heavenly Father, we know that what we do to teach one child is different from another, what works with one does not work for the other.
I feel that God in his love of "HIS" children give the different religions to teach his children in the way that best brought them to him. This is just the way I think, I know I'll get slammed , but, it is what I think.
Note, there are "religions that believe they are the one the only true people. Some of those even believe it's their duty and right to KILL all others.
On that note yes, religion is very important, if you are in the "religion" that teaches hate and death, then I wouldn't want to date anyone like that. | |

Are you calling Thomas Jefferson a socialist( commie pinko)? There are Atheists who happen to be republican so do not get me started on faith. Faith does not change moral fiber. There are christians that lack moral fiber as there are atheists that have it in spades. There are people who regardles of faith( or lack there of) are bad to the bone.. and others that are truely devine. Politics is not part or should never be an issue of faith either. There were comunists who despite doctrins against religeon, remained tru to the russian Orthadox church. So do not get me started on faith. It has not place in politics and is a personal issue. get it got it good. | |

Most people understand it as refering to a religion that is centered on "Christ". That is most common. ie United church, Anglican, etc.
All Evangelical (also protestant)churches ie Baptist, Pentecostal, Salvation Army, Alliance Church etc state that you Must be 'Saved'/Born Again (you get emotional, pray for forgiveness of all sin, & committ yr life to God). It should be taken seriously & is a big step. Hard to continue in this church/religion with a partner that isnt into it, so I can state it up front & you can accept it or move on. Maybe they didnt get you in the congregation, but they didnt lose me. ??
I grew up in one of these churches before they became as popular as they are now. I was 'saved' at 8, lied a couple more times & felt guilty so I got saved again at 9. Then I decided it wasnt for me & waited it out till I could leave . I couldnt accept the guilt/control. | |

Since you asked, and ONLY because you asked, I am posting you back my opinion as a possible answer to your question. First of all, you have a very skewed view and perception of a believer and one who is seeking God, as well as possibly a jaded view of God. You mentioned outward appearance as though God is the host of a formal dinner party rather than the One whom many believe to be the Creator, their Father, and source for Life and energy and Truth and all that is good in life. As many women view God to be their Provider and Protection and Healer and Hero also, a woman that insists a man know God has come to know God in a personal relationship, even more than she knows you. Such a relationship, as well, promises positive transformation that is constant, and peace of soul and mind as she comes to realize that Life is awesomly precious and significant in all it's forms. Usually she has come to realize also that during this gradual transformation of her mind, soul and spirit, she is less and less inclined to live life her way, but rather to live it as God intended when God allowed her birth. Such a woman realizes that, according to what she has come to believe, if she marries a man that does not know God, that she will have to compromise the faith in God she has gained to accomodate her husband/man's life views, as the man and woman so intimately share their lives and souls (a soul often described by many as the -mind, will and emotions.) I may have bit off more than I can chew in trying to answer your question, because the real answer just is not brief at all, just as your quandry on the subject has not been brief apparently. I cant find a place to stop here...I want to go on and on...but, I wont do that to you. I just wanted to share a different perspective of God and believers than you seem to hold, not to convert you, but for your further contemplation. Hey, I dont appreciate people who are mean spirited any more than you do, and yes, there are some who profess to know God and love God that can be ridiculous...but then, since God (as the Bible teaches God) is ACTUAL LOVE, even those such people are worthy to seek God and know God because they TRULY need transformation and love as pitiful as they may be. However, people who wear tatoos, or modern clothing etc. and claim God as well, often have the most genuine, kind and loving hearts, totally devoted to doing good and loving all people as much as they can -Christ taught to love others as much as yourself. Well, I hope this will give you a moment to ponder that is a bit of a pleasure and answer to your question. So if Im understanding some of these posts correctly, Im only considered to be a moral, loving, & decent person if I have God as a top priority? Come on, folks, this isnt the Dark Ages.
Im no Athiest. I believe in basic Christian principles. But because I dont follow a bunch of rules set forth by some church, that still makes me unworthy of being loved by another Christian? Sorry but that seems hypocritical to me.
My beliefs are just that...mine. I dont ask anyone to conform to them. This holds true not just in religion but politics, economics, parenting, & anything else. The whole point of my original post was to ask why people who are religious feel the need to exclude those of us who arent necessarily as fanatical about it. You can believe in God & be a good person without being a Bible-Beater, you know.
And all that hogwash about "liberal society" making America a weaker & divided place is possibly the biggest pile of rubbish Ive read in years. The world has ALWAYS been a harsh, cold, difficult place to live in. There were just as many problems in the 1950s as there are today. Theyre just different problems. 50 years from now people will talk about the "good old days" when we had such a simple world that didnt have aliens co-existing with us or something! Thats just the human ability to be nostalgic, thats all.

I am confused. Are these women looking for a man who loves God or a man who fears God? Not the same! And do these women love or fear God? Makes a difference, right? And does it have to be the same god as they do?
I guess a man or a woman who fears an all-seeing god is less prone to be a cheater and in general break the rules within a committed rel, in theory as least, because god sees everything and thus eternal punishment/damnation is guaranteed, thus quite a deterant. Thus, it makes some sense for people who want committed partners to look for one who fear a god!!! In theory, at least.

Posted: 5/8/2008 8:07:51 AM | People who equate the old days with "Leave it to Beaver" must have watched so much tv that they didn't know what was going on at the time...
Religious life perpetuates this myth that in our past at one time everything was better than it is now... and we're headed toward the "end times"... and they use today's social problems to prove it.
Maybe some people were happier in their childhood. Many of us are protected from the realities of the outside world at that age... and my parents did a pretty good job of keeping me out of the problems that were going on at that time. I'm very thankful for that.
However, if people think those days were better, they either don't know what was going on or they're ignoring it. Things were really bad.
Here are afew things I can name that were really screwed up in the 50's...
Racial segregation: At the local swimming pool, blacks couldn't swim after noon and if they even wanted to BE in the facility, they had to be out of the pool.
People could have anyone committed to a mental hospital IF they got a doctor to sign a statement saying the person was dangerous. Many spouses got their mates locked up in mental hospitals who never should have been there. "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" is about the inhumanity of mental hospitals that went on until the Supreme Court Decision in the 1960s that people couldn't be held against their will unless they'd broken a law.
We had the draft. Washington DC could have any war at any time.. and God knows we threatened Russia with war all during that time, so the military industrial complex could make trillions of dollars selling us missiles we eventually wound up destroying. Not only that, they continually provoked the Soviet Union to create an outside threat of war to scare us into giving them money...
In fact, up until the Korean War, very few blacks were even allowed to serve as combat troops in the US military.
Until 1911, in California, if you murdered a native American, you could bring their dead body into a police station and collect $5.00 for "Indian Fighting Costs" from the state of California, who would then be reimbursed by the federal government.
Of course, in the meantime, the US had a war with Spain over the way they were treating laborers in Cuba, in which we took away all Spain's possessions: Hawaii, the Phillipines, Guam, Cuba, etc, etc....
We were still being taxed up the yin yang to pay for WWII. Uncle Sam could take up to 91% of your income in taxes at that time.
Women couldn't work. Nobody would hire them. They were forced to leave their jobs at the end of WWII and go back into the homes. Many women got married just because they had no life if they didn't. Women were also rarely admitted to colleges and universities.
This nation, like other great nations, does a great job of covering up it's evil doings. Most people don't have a clue about the power structure in this country. They still think it's a democracy... just like they were taught in school... and all are created with equal rights under the law.. and blah blah blah...
Things are still a LOT better than they were, though...and as people become more educated, critical thinkers and hold people accountable for what they do, it might continue to improve. | |

Posted: 5/8/2008 8:10:57 AM | | For me personally I know it is best to be equally yoked with someone which means they need to be on the same page as u r.It is much like when u don't drink and there is someone who is asking u to go out with them and u know they drink and will drink so why waste ur time as u know their attitude is going to change as well as their level of maturity.When u r christian u know not to waste ur time or theirs feeding their ego especially when u know they want sexual intimacy,partying with drinking and smoking(pot),and call women sluts or whores or lovingly refers to them as -itches.Let me say that I am a christian and I still like to shoot pool,I also like to dance but not provocatively.There are alot of ppl on here that want sexual intimacy and that smoke and drink and will gladly meet u for partying till the weee hours.I hope this isn't another bash the christian thread. | |
