Posted: 5/8/2008 8:35:15 AM | as a christian myself, i lack respect for christians in general, especially the bible bangers who I'd be able to point out way too many problems about them. they can say all they want about being imperfect, but to just admit and not do anything about it is sickening.
christians are more overweight than the avg person.
atheists are on average less overweight than religious people.
in church, you'll find plenty of women who screwed up and are seeking something. they could be loaded with tattoos, fat, and generally LIVE A SPOILED LIFE, enjoy NASCAR (showing no concern over the resources on this planet by the joyful watching of wasting of gasoline), idolize sports figures and other celebrities, willful letting loose of money for selfish purposes to watch movies and sports to create unfairness in the distribution of wealth by creating millionaires, drink, smoke, CAN'T GET OUT OF DEBT by being a pathetic follower of God, and so much more. They're like any ordinary person but often times worse, covered by the facade of faith. The girls will still make outrageously stupid mistakes (yeah, ask for forgiveness...here's a novel idea: try to be the best you can and commit fewer errors instead of letting all the crap happen and say "Jesus loves me, so I'll keep on screwing up, it's all good").
I went to a Menonite church a few years back and just the sight of all the fatties there let me know before even saying a word - HYPOCRITES! I don't just say such stuff because it's fashionable, but if they want to show the world they care about the body God gave them, they could show others by first glance that they are actively doing something to better themselves at a greater rate than non-believers. I did not return. If I have to engorge myself with food to fit in, forget it. | |

WE make it unacceptable. Not God. If you see a Christian profile, and move on, good for you. You don't want God at the head of your household, and YOU get to helm the boat. I am sure you are the BEST of lifes sailors, and always know just what to do. Never need ANY advice from the one who created your own self.
Church is like a clinic for souls. You don't go if you don't need any ministering. Just like you don't go to the doctor unless there is a problem. I'm so glad you have no concerns about your soul. You must be absolutely DIVINE!!!
Us fanatical Christians who love the Lord, yet acknowledge our sinful natures, and try to do better are just not good dating material, yes?
And most of the Biblical charactors were wild as all get out. God uses the lowly to glorify his omnipotence. Tax collectors, prostitutes, lepers, strange folk who eat locust. Check it out, and see if you haven't had some notions forced upon you by media & society about us fanatics. | |

I thought the Judeo/Xtian god was neutered--neither male nor female (despite being called "he" and "father"). I also thought he was spirit--if "he" is sexy, wouldn't he be corporeal?
OP, men do it, too. I have seen several profiles wherein the men want a "loving, fearful" godly woman who understands god's plan for men and women. Of course, the man has interpreted god's plan, and it usually reeks of subservience for the woman.
This ol' pagan just can't deal with that. I would much rather be yoked to an atheist than someone who can read the mind of deity. | |

On the other hand, that's probably the point. After all, my own profile is designed to weed out women who want INSTANT LOVE! I try to make it pretty clear that I'm looking for fun, not love.
So it's in there to make guys like me shake my head and move on. In all fairness, I have to applaud that strategy. We should all say what we want, not what we don't. | |

It merely simplifies the screening process - I wouldn't fit their criteria, nor would they fit mine, so it makes it easy to move to the next candidate knowing that nothing could ever come of it. | |

I see a gap by way of lacking corrective action that would be at #4 above. When christians cannot do any better than non-christians, what does that say about them?
One of the most recognized church leaders here was screwing around on his wife and was siphoning money. Such a common occurence. I knew something was wrong when he was saying he was sending his kids to big name private universities on the east coast -like hmmmm, where was he getting all the money? were those in the audience just sucking up to the word of God and not paying attention to other matters? I once talked to the guy along with some visiting preacher (I was there a few times only) and asked why they were so much against gay marriages. I said all chritians are ever concerned with is abortion and gay marriage. why can't they broaden their concerns? I was telling them that if we take marriages out of the hands of the State, then there'd be no impetus for gays to be married, as they want to be married to get all the DISCRIMINATORY benefits that are granted to marriage persons, notably those things having to do with insurance matters. Who said there had to be any recognition of marriage for scrutiny in society for discrimination purposes - it's against the law to do so but it's still practiced. My car insurance rate would be $5 less if I was married...lovely..so I tried to marry myself and the bozo in city hall claimed i couldn't do it despite me showing how the law was written in not disallowing it. I wanted my discount just like married people. It's understandable that gays want the same benefits. I don't believe in the gay lifestyle, but I'm not going to be so dumb as to keep marriages away from them if others get it as once a structure lands in the hands of the government, it CANNOT be a church matter since there is a supposed separation of church and state. I told these guys that the answer would be to have no marriages recognized by government whatsoever, so NO PERSON would be married to be known as public knowledge. the marriage is between the man and woman (and with God if you want to add this) and does not have to include the State and therefore no benefits should be given because of it. Go wear a ring and other people would know you're unavailable. what else do you want? if you work your spouse gets medical insruance coverage and those who are not married, wehtehr a MAN and a WOMAN living together as if they are married by their actions or a woman/woman or man/man are not able to ??? ALL PEOPLE OTHER THAN THE MARRIED ONES are SUBSIDIZING such medical coverage. IS THAT FAIR? of course not. So, let's stop all the benefits of being maried and keep marriage records and other info about marriages OUT of the hands of government. Keep it within the chuirch only, and any problems involving divroce and other such things be dealt with within a church and let us use our courts and other government services for other things. We could rid ourselves of a few lawyers in the process. we'll see in time.... there is a reasonable solution for everything.

Yup I always move on when I see the mention of God or religion in a profile. I've taken a few of these religious zealot out, and what they usually need is not a man but the services of a psychiatrist!
Today the majority of the population is agnostic or non-religious which I'm thankful for. Most of the religious nuts expect their lives to be governed by a higher power rather than taking responsibility for it themselves. I suppose this is why they are always praying for guidance from above.

Posted: 5/8/2008 12:35:14 PM | This is definitely not just a "woman" thing. Many men profess their need to find a Godly woman and talk about what good Christians they are and they want to find the same....and that's fine, to each his own.
Without bashing anyone's religion, I feel actions speak louder than words. If you're a "Christian" or moral person, it will show in your actions...you don't have to go around shouting it to everyone.
If a man would not want to meet or date me because I don't attend church every Sunday, that's his loss. You'd be hard pressed to find someone that is more caring, honest and ethical than I am...but organized religion has left a bad taste in my mouth.
I can't begin to tell you the number of men I have come to know from this site who have shared stories of encounters with SOME of these religious nuts. I realize this doesn't apply to everyone...so no need to point that out, but I've heard from one man about his "church going woman" being a wildcat in bed until they married. Then she decided God wouldn't want them to "behave" that way....so no more sex.
Another one of these sanctimonious women is fine sleeping with a man before marriage only to announce after doing the deed that they are now married "in God's eyes". I have to laugh wondering how many men this woman has "married in God's eyes" without the benefit of divorce in God's eyes?
I want to find someone with good morals and ethics....who treats people with respect and compassion...as I try to do. In all the near death experiences I've read or heard about, you never hear that the person was asked "did you attend church" or "what religion were you"....it's always about how you treated your fellow man. In my opinion THAT'S what it's all about.
...but then to each his own.

If not, and yes this is my bias talking, but the first mention of God or Jesus on a profile makes me instantly question the intelligence of that person and if they are scantily clad, I wonder if the prospect of Jesus watching during sex is a turn on for these people, or if they find that slightly perverted. Then I move on to the next profile. Sorry God-wads!
