| Gas Price increase. What do you think? Posted: 7/3/2008 3:32:35 AM | | Too bad for bussinesses that depend on 4th of July families driving across the USA on vacation. Fewer Americans will make the long trips opting for shorter trips. I will only go to Kentucky to climb this weekend opting out of a trip to Colorado. Have to make consessions in this new economy. | |

| Gas Price increase. What do you think? Posted: 7/3/2008 8:11:47 AM | Has anyone considered boycotting? I don't mean boycotting all gas station on a certain day of the week. That just won't work. How about boycotting a major supplier, such as Exxon/Mobil indefinitely.
We all need gas, but if we buy elsewhere and not from one certain supplier I believe that we just may see prices go down or at least level out. When they don't make the profit like other suppliers are making, I can bet they will be running to Washington D.C. and find a way for the government to bring the prices back down.
We as a country don't fight for what we think is fair anymore. In the early 1900's we fought for fair wages and hours. In the 60's we fought for equal treatment to all people. Also at that time there were sit-ins for fair costs on college education. Lately us American have just taken what has been handed to us, we don't fight anymore.
Yes, we need to conserve. But we also need to fight for what we believe is right. It's suppose to be the American way.

| Gas Price increase. What do you think? Posted: 7/3/2008 9:47:11 AM | | The boycotting of gas will not stop specultaors from making money by trading oil futures. The price at the pump is fixed by powers that will not respond to a boycott. We cab debate this till the cows come home. The solution is conserving gas. Other solutions including cars that get more than 80 miles per gallon. We need to work together on this. | |

| Speaking of Aerodynamics... Posted: 7/15/2008 7:07:20 AM | As related to GB's question about running the Air or not earlier.
Did anyone ever notice the aerodynamic designed cars of the '90's are gone & replaced by hi drag boxy vehicles? The Cars that were designed to have very low drag, such as the Dodge Intreped, Chevrolet Camaro , an a personal favorite of mine the GM U body (TranSport/Sillouette/Lumina)* designs have regressed back to high drag designs.
*not only did this vehicle have a superior design, it was also roomy & functional with it's modular design ... very surprised that GM didn't roll with this new way of building a vehicle.

| Gas Price increase. What do you think? Posted: 7/25/2008 9:06:57 PM | I think the old gas and go will make a significant appearance again. The fact is that for the most part, most people will find more and more creative ways to rob Peter to pay Paul for the go juice.
Better to be safe than sorry...............
INFO FROM A STATE TROOPER....PLEASE READ!!!!!
A woman said her son found his license plate missing so he called the police to file a report. They told him people were stealing the plates to get free gas. Given the rise in gas prices, people have taken to stealing license plates, putting them on their car, then getting gas and running. The gas station will have 'your' license plate # and you could be in trouble for 'pump and run.' Check your car periodically to be sure you still have a plate. If you should find it missing, file a report immediately!!! Keep an eye on your license plate! Make sure you always know it's there! When the license plate is reported as the 'drive off vehicle', it's YOU they contact! Be aware!!!! Be aware of your license plates, most of us never look to see if the plates are there or not.
Note: I'm much against our 2 plate requirement, just another thing to watch, the front plate becomes vulrnable for theft after the holes rust & are easily & unknowingly snapped off in a snowbank which happened to me years ago.

| Gas Price increase. What do you think? Posted: 7/26/2008 5:37:05 AM | Front plate missing is a fine and a reason to pull you over, if you don't think justice is a business, think again.
Most places anymore are all pay up front for gas or credit/debit card usage. Heck the last place I saw a mechanical flip up the arm gas pump was down in Coalton I do believe.

| Gas Price increase. What do you think? Posted: 7/26/2008 12:55:04 PM | | It is the way we live. We drive our separate ways in our cars. Gone are the true days of commitment. It is no surprise that trust is an issue . We mistrust and lie aboput our inability to trust. Think of all the times you make off color remarks about women, African Americans or people of Middle Eastern origins. It is ingrianed in our society not to trust. WE just fool ourselves into thinking we can be trusted to pay for the gas and we won't drive off justifying our actions by blaming the high cost of gas for our inability to be trusted. | |

Kentucky?? I wouldn't even go down top Akron a few months back.
El contrare here, from reading the posts no one here seems to be giving up anything, I read about everyone driving far & near here to events & other social gatherings.... Meanwhile I no longer go up to the corner to pick things up, I've consolidated my trips, even the ones that are only a few miles.
Either you all (or most of you) are swallowing this or you just plain have money to burn... I finally got my summer car out last week. just plain didn't have a reason to drive & didn't want the extra expense of putting it on the road. this is how much I've been cutting back.
& no even 3.54 is still high.

| Gas Price increase. What do you think? Posted: 9/3/2008 8:27:30 AM | | What gets me is, the cost of a barrel has gone down to $105, that a drop of about half the increase from when gas cost us $2.00 a gallon, then why are we not seeing the price drop at the pump!? And now OPEC is trying to defend the price of a gallon now! | |

Well, it's call Corperate profits as it's finest. You'll never see gas below $3.00 ever again even if a barrel of oil goes for $40.00 a barrel.
|
| Gas Price increase. What do you think? Posted: 9/3/2008 7:10:48 PM | | Not sure where you are getting your numbers for gas at 2 dollars per gallon at 105 dollars per barrel. The price was more like 2.80 - 3.00 per gallon at 105 dollars per barrell. The other factor is the price of gas today is based on the price of oil per barrell at prices at least two weeks ago. If the price of oil stays at 105 dollars per barrel the price could drop more in maybe two weeks? | |

True, they will always win & nothing will stop the corporate Nazis. They found that $4 is where we will push back, .... give them time & it will be the same game all over again.
|
| Gas Price increase. What do you think? Posted: 9/4/2008 3:11:47 PM | | Pushing the price back has less to do with the consumer and more to do with what the overal economy will obsorb without sinking. If you think there was any other agenda other than proping up the bussiness already in place it is time to pull your head out of the sand. | |
|
| Gas Price increase. What do you think? Posted: 9/4/2008 6:28:08 PM | I think what I meant climbs is that the $4 mark is where most people would change their overall habits in the short term affect leaving them there, the oil companies would temporarily shoot themselves in the foot.
I know I'm not getting a pay increase to to cover this increase & the resulting increases from this. Just another vehicle to further seperate the classes in the US which is all part of the Goverments Master plan.
Can we say 911? I know the family in power is now set for life... as if they weren't already.
|
| Gas Price increase. What do you think? Posted: 9/5/2008 4:21:14 AM | | Why do we use this term " The Government Plan"? The government is operated by people, fellow Americans. Perhaps we need to look at the whole oil situation as just that. American citizens getting rich by taking advantage of other American citizens. | |
|
| Gas Price increase. What do you think? Posted: 9/5/2008 5:30:41 AM | | Then why is the US Government giving huge tax breaks to the oil companies when they are making billions in pure profit weekly? | |
|
| Gas Price increase. What do you think? Posted: 9/5/2008 8:40:56 AM | | I am amazed that it has not hit $5/gallon yet, but I forget that it is close to a presidential election. It's back down to where it was in March when it started going up "again". You will see in the coming years a federal mandate to put GPS devices on all vehicles that use roadways. The price of gas is not based on how much a barrel costs, but on how much the government owes. | |
|
| Gas Price increase. What do you think? Posted: 9/5/2008 6:29:58 PM | Consider this regarding tax breaks for oil companies and how it effects the consumers pocketbook. In the states where the oil industry is big, the consumer is happy as they are benefiting from the increased spending in their states. Investigate and you will find states that benefit from oil prices being so high. If you live in Alaska the check you recieve from the oil companies would be a nice surprise. Yes in Alaska citizens recieve a check generated from money from oil companies. You know the evil oil companies supported by our government. Some states benefit, some do not.
Ohio on the other hand seems to have few reasons to benefit from anything at this point in time. The oil industry does not benefit Ohio. So why give tax breaks? Why complain? In the end our elected officals give the tax breaks. Who are these government people? Could be a friend, neighbor, maybe even a family member, someone you say you trust. In fact you trust this elected offical to act when you will not act.
I cannot help but think we place the blame on the so called government, our elected officals as a way of passing the blame from the unconcerned voter to the people we elect? You know.......our governement that represents us....the voters.

| Gas Price increase. What do you think? Posted: 9/6/2008 4:02:05 AM | | Yes the government that represents us the voters. Very serious about this point Desertfox. Think about the implications here before you turn off your PC. Okay I confess I say this in jest, but don't call me surely! | |

| Gas Price increase. What do you think? Posted: 9/6/2008 2:08:13 PM | I made the best move ever to save money on gas - I moved approx. 1-2 miles away from work - don't use much gas at all. Of course, I went thru a lot of pain to get there, but it helps with the expenses.
I just hope the kids don't have any events outside of town - guess they'll be learning to 'hoof' it like I did when I was a young'n.
