The snake would probably be a lot easier than taking the toilet off..... toilets tend to break when you least expect it. The ring is easy and cheap.... tanks and bowls are a lot more $$$$.

The snake operates sorta like a fishing rod. Once you snag the brush head, mouse, other items used by boy child.... reverse

^^^ geez considering I'm renting - breaking the landlord's toilet would not likely make him too happy with me ..... will proceed with caution .......

nooooooo ..... no mouse, I visited grave site behind the garden shed earlier so I know it's just the toilet brush head.... cause if I do all this and find it isn't just the toilet brush head - I'll put the dam thing under his pillow ....... !!!!

I keep checking to see if this toilet has been done yet. :) It's killing me, all this suspense! It's not that tough, just be sure to remember there will be water in the toilet, even after you turn the water off and flush, so hold it straight! Maybe an extra set of hands to help move the darn thing once it's off the bolts too, they can be a bit heavy.
I've done it twice already, and just replaced the toilet (changed color, smaller water tank). I still have to GOOD, old one on the back deck, so if you do break it, send me a message and you can have my old one!

^^^ hahahaha - what lives we have when our Friday nite "suspense" is PP's toilet .....

Haven't touched it yet - still dwelling on it - luckily I have a second bathroom - boychild still ousted to pee'ing the the yard!

Figure I'll leave it until later on during the weekend, just too busy for the next bit - may try the coat hanger - then snake thing first. Perhaps I'll have sweet dreams tonite and will have a plumber or handyman with nice hands when I wake ..... ah if only to dream .......

Racer chic - stinkweeds might just look pretty nice in my freshly landscaped backyard - whenever I git to it .... hahaha .... and it did make me laugh, not to worry.

Hi PP

None of this is meant to sound "suggestive", but before you sacrifice the oldest son(they can be such twits), and before you pull the "porcelain godess" of her laurels, think about the snake,(all sexual twistings aside), and, thinkg about using a good old fashioned plunger as well.

Again, no sexual inuendoes implied(which is where this post seems tobe going) , any blockage in the system, seems to be able to be aliviated with a couple of good thrusts with a plunger!!!(oh, I hope that didn't sound to sexually) You can actually get a good rythem going, and how knows? You may actualy clear up the problem(take that anyway you want!!)

But seriously, just having a little fun with the threat, try the plunger, I have 2 girls who've god knows what they've tried flushing......

Well the Toilet Gods have answered my prayers !

There are two Toilet Angels who have so very kindly offered their help for which I am so grateful ....... and they're on their way as we type ........

Happy Mother's Day to me ........

Besides I'm going to need the extra sets of hands to dig the REALLY BIG hole in the backyard to bury the boy child ......... !

How lucky I am to have such wonderful friends .......

Have an awesome day POF'ers - off to flush ....... and bury .......

Hmmm.... Ok here is one.

Come home from work only to find that the appartment owner upstairs has had some sort of 'water emergency' (It takes a special kind of idiot to do that - but I won't stoop to calling names... Oh... too late! LOL ).

Sure the landlord called me at 3pm to tell me -but they sure made it seem like it was minor. "You'll have to buy more toilet paper - and you can submit the receipt to us and we will pay for it". (Yea !) Boy is that great of them ! They'll give me like $5 - but I have to buy pretty much everything else that was 'wet' when I got home.

Toothbrush, shaving stuff, a towel or two, etc - pretty much everything that was out on the counter, or under it. Magazines and books in the living room, the carpet, the walls have streams of 'yuckies' staining them, the kitchen - smart of him to use dishes and bowls, but to leave them full of yuckie bathroom (who knows what type) water? Come on! Like I'll really feel like using a CD rack/holder that was empty when I left but was used for a water collecting device and now has assorted toiletries in it as well as some grey water?

So, the question is (from one fairly new to apt living - well new enough not to have experienced this ): Do I have to do it myself?
(As in cleaning the mess, replacing my stuff the was damaged, etc?)

'Crap' was moved and left - buckets everywhere. Guess what I am doing tonight. (Just about finished putting the furnature back in one room !) Fudge ! Stains down the wall(s), all my bathroom stuff is 'yuckie', and the 'now containers' the 'repair man' thought enough to grab and use it as a bucket - what shall I do with them?! (not their original design by the way - lol ).

Anyone up for Turkey from a broiler pan that has grey water in it? I'll wash it - but would YOU feel like using it now?

What do I do when it is time to move and there are a whack of stains on the carpet? Do I lose my damage dept?
Am I resp0nsible to fix this mess ?

Are there any options here, or do I have to 'do it' myself?

PS - *sniff...

Take lots of pictures, then call the landlord and ask him when he's sending a clean up team.
If there is water "between" apartments, you will most likely in the near future, be the proud owner of mould!
I guess you would have to read the agreement, but I cannot see how this would be YOUR problem.
I am not an expert, and maybe others have dealt with this, but I own my home, and if someone was renting the basement and I flooded their stuff, I could hardly say, "Oops sorry" and expect them to (sorry for the pun) Soak up the cost of my mistake. (or am I living in a dream world where people still accept responsibility for their responsibilities???)

how appropo to have narky's [ yes i used a pet name, followed enuff of your whinging] experience on pp's [ more irony] thread, after her mould issues...................knew someone who lived in the atrium by the univerity...........same crap[ stopit] as narby, leakage and damage.........cleaned themselves all up and then disinfecting over three days to feeling comfy again , then same thing happens to a lesser degree...........three days later still leaking and no answer from the owners[ quality company, hint], busts open the cieling and finds insted of fixing plumbing, they made a trough out of plastic sheeting to drain down between the walls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!wound up driving him to the head office where he demanded to talk to the person responsible and litterally threw an arm load of plaster , sheeting and whatever on their desk and told them to fix it now. proudest moment of my life to see my brother stick up for hisself like that........still remember the look on the stupid ****'s face.........manager my ass.......and if you are the guy, e-mail me, good times
