| Afternoon, out of the rain Posted: 5/14/2008 12:15:53 AM | MSG 22.5
He holds the woman in his arms most of the night, she can sense that something is going on with him. She thinks probably has to do with work, he becomes so serious sometimes and won't speak. She never really asked him about it, because he asked her not too. He pulls her close, and starts to kiss her. She turns her head and starts to kiss back, then rolls her body over to him, and they wrap in eachothers arms.
The cell phone rings from the night stand, very few people have the number o the man must answer. He picks it up "Hello" From the other end of the line he listens to the Man in Gray "I've been down here at the Zoo all night, I found out what I needed to know from Darla, I already called Tan. He's on his way down. How soon can you make it."
Black "I'll be right there" He kisses her, and turns to get out of bed. He stands, dressing, pockets his cell. He looks back, tells her he Loves her and walks out of the bedroom. He stops at the hallway wash stand, puts something inside his jacket, and walks down the stairs. The camera stops as he opens the front door, and we watch from the window as he gets in his BM. Man drives down a gravel driveway into the dark.

Camera once again in the bedroom.
She stretches luxuriously between the silk sheets.
A satisfied moan escapes her throat.
With eyes closed she reaches out her right hand and feels his pillow ...
Yes! His warmth was still there.
Always wanting his warmth near her
she grabs his pillow pulling it tight against her chest
as she rolls over ... falling asleep dreaming of him.

| Afternoon, out of the rain Posted: 5/23/2008 9:57:30 AM | ( I thought I would pick up the baton and continue this....... keep it going eyetosky........ I wonder what the man in black is up to anyway!) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The roar of thunder awoke her from deep places..... How long did I sleep?... she wondered, as her eyes first gazed at the clock and then out the little window near the bed. The usually crowded street was now nearly vacant. It was raining harder today.
Only an hour had passed since she had clutched his warm pillow, basked in warm thoughts of his presence, and drifted off. Now roused by the storm, the dark gloomy skies reminded her of all that weighed her down.
Yesterday. She wanted it all to go away. The trip to the doctor's office..... the cruel words of his sister.....and her ongoing fears and worries overshadowing all. His sister, who regularly went off her meds , really wouldnt have bothered her if she weren't already upset. It was all way too much. She felt overwhelmed and so afraid. How would she even begin to talk to him about all of these things?? He was so distant, ... so distracted sometimes..... and where did he go anyway???

| Afternoon, out of the rain Posted: 5/23/2008 11:11:54 PM | . Few seconds of quiet while the DJ loads the next music tape for Wanda's Dance. Gus is in the rear of the stage when he hears glass shattering in the dressing room. He steps through the dressing room doorway. Gus "Simmer down ladies, what's going on back here?"
Wanda: " That two timing bastard...Gus, you saw him sitting with Darla....I know he was asking her for a lap dance. I want you to send "Knuckles" out in the lot to beat his ass.
Gus: "Whoa...Customers come here for entertainment, not to get their ass kicked. When did you start making the rules around here anyway?"
Wanda: "If you expect me to keep doing you, you better do something for me...right now!"
Glass shatters high above his head as he ducks out the door.
Gus walks across the lounge and whispers something into Knuckle's ear, He nods, slowly walks toward the Ebony double doors, separating fantasyland from the real world.

| Afternoon, out of the rain Posted: 5/28/2008 10:23:05 PM | "Gus!" Knuckles shouts out the name again... "Gus...Come to the kitchen ...now!"
Gus comes running around the corner of the bar, banging into Knuckle's magnum tucked in his belt. "Damn, that's going to leave a bruise... Sorry...What the hades is going on now?"
Knuckles: "Wanda got into a pissy-fit with the fry cook. Now she is smashing dishes in the kitchen!"
Gus: "Why didn't I listen to my father and open up a top-less car wash instead of this misery ?"
|
| Afternoon, out of the rain Posted: 5/28/2008 10:31:00 PM | Gus smiled. The phone was replaced into the cradle. Information was not to be received from the gossipping individuals, conversation with whom had just been concluded with.
Gus lit a ciggarrette. The smoke plumed outward...slowly..through each nostril, and the smoke was contemplated , as it lingered there. Laughing silently, he arose to prepare to meet the public...
One must be shaved, not gendour specific...
Ablutions performed, powdered fresh: clean undergarments adorned from the chiffarobe(sic), clean shirt is a donned first, cuff links fastened...trousers pressed matching the jacket to be worn later, are carefully tucked about the immaculate white shirt. The mirrorr assists the artist, in his narcissism and to tie the black bow tie...
an evening encounter awaits...
The tie of silken black is nimbly touched with practiced fingers, gently tightened to that always sought after, but never acheived, perfect bow. Suspenders are pulled over the shirt, beads of sweat form on the wearer's brow, in anticipation. Another ciggarrette is lit, to calm nerves, and the exhausted smoke is expelled in haste, to slowly encircle in mock mockery...lingering mystically, and silently. It is time to go...
Black case is regarded: indeed, the tool within needed to fulfil the task thus so for commissioned for. The instrument within mocks him, although encased. Failure beckons with the parodox of success. Anxiety manifests itself in beads of sweat upon the forehead, incriminating evidence of nervous self doubt...visited back now a thousand fold. It has always been. It always will be.
It is time. The jacket is placed over the immaculate white shirt, hiding pretense of suspendors of suporrt, and the illusion is complete. The black case is regarded, with a sigh, and held. Again.
This job WILL be done....
that's all for now, folks!
Thanks Eyeofthesky, for the invite!
Regards, TBK | |

| Afternoon, out of the rain Posted: 5/28/2008 10:59:06 PM | "Diamond Square Cufflinks, Those are beautiful cufflinks Gus" murmured Daisy.
"Almost 5 grand for this Executive set. Wife got them for me", smiled Gus.
"Don't look at me funny like that. Even a road house like this one deserves an Executive, right?"
"What happened to your wife Gus?" asked Daisy.
"Were not going to go there, Hey, time for you to get your butt up on stage."
Match Box 20 song "These Hard Times" is ending. "Yeah, new group every week"...sighs Gus.
|
| Afternoon, out of the rain Posted: 5/28/2008 11:29:05 PM | sigh...
The job will BE done. It is a job unappreciated by or unspoken about in most circles, but a job that must be done none the less. Such are the reflections of the the black suited, walking alone amongst the crowded strangers side walked.
The black case is held more tightly. Sweat beads noticibly upon the brow, unoticibly beneath black suited debonnairre, stark depth of glimpsed in eye; passes unseen.... Public transportation upon the subway, railed, yet underground in darkness: hail the station stop to ascend the light at the end of the stairs, to light. The black case is held tightly. Compassion is neither seen, nor given, the opportunity from the fleeting passers by. They are busy.
They seem to enjoy music. It is also observed that they wish to have authority, as they scurry about upon the various hamster wheels of varrioued puppeteered sucess, too busy of course to observe life's train passing by. But, after all, we are busy, aren't we?
Reflections of the recluse harbouring clutched black case, awaiting to board the subterenean rails to insignifgant labour for the privleged......

| Afternoon, out of the rain Posted: 5/29/2008 7:02:28 PM | Y'All are wonderful writers and visionaries!!! Hats off from me and awesome "Eyestothesky"!!! | |
|
| Afternoon, out of the rain Posted: 5/29/2008 7:36:44 PM | Black pulled up to the curb and parked his car, sitting quietly for several moments as his mind raced. So much was happening right now but he knew he had to be calm and strong as he walked through the door.
The moon shone brightly as he walked up to the house , leaving a warm glow over the world around him..... "if only it really were this quiet.... this serene" , he thought to himself.
As he opened the door she ran into his arms and he held her tight.........
|
| Afternoon, out of the rain Posted: 5/30/2008 7:17:27 AM | Home is where the heart is ... and his heart was with her. Pulling himself mere inches from her face he had to see her .... painting a picture in his mind to never be forgotten.
Those lips, magic lips. They were his mode of transportation out of this time and place. Back to a time when it was just the two of them on the beach, in a much simpler world. Before he knew the ugly truth. He kissed her, releasing the holds the outside world held on him.
Not tonight he thought, I can't tell her tonight. Selfishly, he swept her off her feet. Holding her effortlessly in his arms while he drowns in the very essence of her. Chasing the reminders of what's to come to the far recesses of his mind. Tomorrow, I'll tell her tomorrow.
