Posted: 5/11/2008 4:52:16 PM | I think God can send signals and I believe Satan can do the same to mislead us.
In your case, I think your signals are probably your common sense. We can think too, you know =)
As far as signs from God, like I said, I think it's possible, but I'll be very careful from now on about interpreting "signs" either way. Here's my story: I'd been waiting to meet "the one." I had some ideas about what I wanted, but mostly, I felt like I'd know him from a specific detail that I really wanted that is pretty hard to match. When my STBX husband hit that detail in his very first e-mail to me, I KNEW he was the one. I couldn't believe it! I really felt like God had answered my prayers. And I went with it. I went with it right past the red flags. I convinced myself that God had given me the answer to my prayer. On the other side, my STBX had the exact same "signal," and felt like I was the answer to his prayers. Now, two years later, I KNOW that God did not give me that nightmare. He was probably sad to see me being such an idiot! So, if you are religiously inclined and looking for signals, beware that your heart and Satan can trick you into following the wrong signs. If you have a signal and it defies what you believe in or it defies common sense... beware! | |

However, I suspect we can all 'believe' something to be a signal, but what WE want, and what HE wants...are 'clearly' two different things. However, when HE wants YOU to know...YOU WILL! You could say these signs are from God or you can say you are just using the sense God gave you. Some people are more intuitive than others. Either way...if you see red flags, you should pay attention. That something that is preventing you from getting back together does say perhaps things are just not meant to be. | |

Posted: 5/11/2008 8:43:25 PM | | In 1986 I made a list of 20 things I wanted in a woman..... GOD put a sweet lady into my life then..... She met 18 of the 20.... in 1987 we were married..... We were together for 18 years and never had an argument, fuss, fight or dissagreement.... I lost het in 2003 and I still miss her terribly.... Took flowers to the cemetary today....... Fast forward to now...Starting last Feb I started another list... About that time I started to get a strong feeling, or pull to go out west.... I went there in June and early july.... Colorado springs.. ( was within 3 hours of the future lady at one point ) When I left there my heart was there...... When I got back I started putting down the 10 items I wanted in a lady, HABBAKA states MAKE A WRITTEN LIST OF WHAT YOU WANT FROM GOD, In early August I felt the strong pull to go back.... but where..... Somehow I arrived at BILLINGS, MT...... I could have gone anywhere... I went on line and happened to see a lady in Roundup, Mt.... 50 miles away...... WELL SHE MET ALL ITEMS, including being 1/4 Yakamia Indian.... For 46 days we emailed and phone called.... I flew out there and we had a wonderful time.... 1 1/2 weeks later she came here to Florida for a week at Thanksgiving.... all signs pointed to a future... a long one.. Many things happened to both of us to put us together.. but it seems to have failed..... I STILL MISS HER.... But GOD HAS MORE IN STORE..... SO YES...... PRAYER WORKS!!!!!!! | |

BUT, maybe you should listen to your intuition? You saw the red flags, you knew they were there however you ignored them. Listen to your gut next time, majority of the time its right. | |

Posted: 5/12/2008 5:01:51 PM | I really do belive God sends signs, and sometimes we refuse to listen, and I found out the hard ways that by not paying attention to the signs he sent I have ended up in some very painful situtions. He is there for us but I think we have to trust him more. That my problem I seem to stay in what I know rather to venture out and trust. And belive you me you can make a mess out of your life by not listening and not being able to make a change in your life because of fear. I think if we trust we will find the answers until then you will end up wondering what it would of been if only i was not so scared.
Isure hope you understand what I am trying to say. Good Luck, and don't forget to listen especially to your heart.

Posted: 5/14/2008 5:15:14 AM | No question that God sends signs in both an internal and external fashion. I was in a relationship that was bending me way out of character, i.e., not being myself. That was the external force affecting me. And there was that nagging little voice inside saying she is not right for you, look at you..... miserable, walking on pins and needles, quiet, distraught and giving everything to "make it work".... everything.
And all for the fear that nobody else would "love" me.... that was not love. So finally after being hit up side the head, (note: thick skull) I let loose of that "love" and immediately found someone else within a month that was wonderful....caring, loving, nurturing... all the things we "manly men" need, if the truth be known. I think most "manly men" all want our mother's attributes in the form of a companion and that is why God does send those signs.... we just have to be smart enough, tough enough, and faithful enough to listen.
And He will send signs that it is working too....... | |

I guess because I've never found another love since the last one, i'm getting a touch of 'rose tinted spectacles' and wondering if I made the right decision to end it - but in my heart (gut instinct) I know he wasn't and never would be right for me, but as the years pass with no new love on the horizon, I'm scared I'll never find anyone else. (I already know that NO man in my life's better than a WRONG man before anyone tells me that, but i'm still lonely)  | |

About 30 minutes ago.
I was getting into the elevator in my office building and this decently attractive woman walks towards it. So I hold the door, she seems pleased. We have a nice conversation on the way down. She was actually really cute and nice. We both go our separate ways. What a nice moment from an other wise uneventful day.
So I walk across the street to the grocery store. She must have driven and is also walking in right in front of me. Is this fate? She has the most perfect butt. It is gonna be interesting bumping back into her again.
But no, she immediately meets up with some dude and she is just gushing talking to him. Great! And he looks like Vanilla Ice wearing a tank top with his hat turned to the side. | |

Its about common sense.
Clearly this relationship was not right for you and the ability to see that is nothing to do with the Almightly who I'm sure has some much bigger fish to fry.
Its about taking responsibilty for the events of your life and moving on rather than playing victim or blaming God or anybody else for that matter for the things that happen.
I dispare. This is the 21 century and surely if a relationship is wrong ending it is a matter of need rather than looking for a sign from God!

Posted: 5/14/2008 5:58:03 PM | I have loved reading all the responses. I do believe in God, a higher power, whatever you are most comfortable with. And, I think that force can at times protect us from ourselves.
I also believe strongly in paying attention to intuition. If we quiet ourselves, we can often receive those signals that some may call signs. The last one I had was about a year ago, about someone I had just met. He was wonderful on the surface...handsome, charming, seemingly head over heels for me. I was quite dazzled! But not long after we met, I was working at my computer on nothing too serious. I suddenly had this flash across my mind -- "He's married." Now, please note that this guy had said or done nothing up to that point to make me suspicious! But, I just stopped what I was doing and paid attention.
Guess what? The next time I saw him...he confessed that he was (amazingly!) unhappily married! Goodbye, charming guy, and good luck hooking your next fishie.
I do recommend the book "Blink: The Power of Thinking without Thinking" by Malcolm Gladwell. He writes about all the non-verbal cues we can and need to take in to help us make seemingly snap judgments about other people, and decisions. Just really interesting reading, and I wonder now if I was picking up on non-verbal cues from Mr. Married that led to that intution! | |

Posted: 5/14/2008 9:06:55 PM | I didn't read every ones posting, but NO... Reason is this, IF good gave man kind freedom of choice, would God be telling people who they shouldn't and shouldn't choose?
I do believe that God does send angels and messengers for really important things, but we humans we gifted the freedom of choice just as it states in Genesis... How can man kind learn how to make good choices and have faith that he can do so if there are warning signs saying don't date this person, go for that one? | |
