Posted: 5/15/2008 10:29:53 AM | Yes He does send signs, angels, circumstances and opportunities. When my evangelical ex girlfriend broke up with me a year ago I was devastated, but now I realize God has another plan for my life even though I thought we were soul mates, He has someone else in mind for me. I prayed on the matter and if she ever comes back it is Gods will because I am done chasing her. He brought us together and for what ever reasons we are apart and theres nothing I can do about it. So I am devoting my free time to Habitat for Humanity, a mens homeless shelter in Long Beach and the Union Rescue Mission downtown. For the one the Lord is sending I will have alot of passion and love, but she had to get out of the way for this to happen. So I'll continue to go to 24 hour Fitness, listen to Alister Begg, attend my church and try to raise my son the way He would want me to. I wished her everything positive in the world last Thanksgiving and Christmas and she never responded, I learned alot more without her then with her. So God is not done with me and the sign He is sending is keep on His path. So I remain patient for the 1,  | |

Posted: 5/15/2008 5:28:17 PM | What I once referred to as my gut instinct I now believe to be the Holy Spirit, sent by God to guide me and teach me.
Have I always heeded this guide? No... in fact the last relationship with a nonChristian had red flags galore, but was so exciting, exhilarating and fun that I chose to ignore these signs. Many times I walked away from him, tried to immerse myself in learning more about the Bible, spent Sundays in church instead of on the bike with him....only to find myself drawn back into relationship with him by his charm and sense of humor.
I believe I have finally understood what the Holy Spirit has been trying to tell me, and am totally over this man. I am now firm in my resolve to meet a man who shares my values. | |

You believe that the person you loved isn't like that, but when things turn out wrong you only have yourself to blame. I usually listen to my first instincts because most of the time it's right. | |

I have had many signs that I have chosen and not chosen to listen to. Before I filed for divorce from my husband (he was cheating on me with Tom,Dick andMary), I got signs. My wedding ring and watch disappeared for a week and I ended up finding it sitting on my front seat of my car...where had it been all that time. Then my wedding ring would infect my finger every time I put it it on. If these aren't signs that I don't know what is. But I am the type that is very spiritual and believe that things happen for a reason. Even the most miserable things. Every thing is a choice and we don't have to play victims. Empower yourself! | |

Posted: 5/16/2008 9:27:42 AM | My belief is God absolutely sends signs. However I also believe you have to be very quiet to hear them and open your eyes to see them so they don't pass you by. My complete trust is in the Lord and that even if I don't always understand why things are a particular way, he knows what's best for me and someday his reasons will be revealed.
You also have intuition stemming from what you know is right and wrong. Choosing to do the right thing by using your own free will which he gives you to make your own decisions...will hopefully lead you to the correct one. Either way, trust and believe even when you don't understand.

The entire idea is laughable, or would be if it were'nt so dangerous. GOD does nothing anymore. If he did wouldn't he be busy striking down child molesters with blasts of lightning from a clear sky? Wouldn't he be busy ANSWERING the prayers of parents of innocent kids struck down by awful things like mrningitis, leukemia and so on? Whatever GOD is, it does NOT send you or anyone else SIGNS. There are always clues to us generated by our self concious that warn us of all sorts of things. But leave GOD out of it, as it has left us out always. Last sign I saw of THIS?? Those jumbo jets plowing into a pair of skyscrapers a few years back! | |

I tend to think of those more as realities rather than signs. Signs I think are much smaller. By the time you're being swallowed up by the ocean, that's just got to be an event that is just simply more real.
As for "Common Sense" and all that........Sometimes I wonder where it came from. I know it gets back again to basic philosophical/religious/belief outlooks and we'll probably never want to ascribe it to the same origin. But yes, never underestimate those things we call "common sense", "gut instincts", etc......they've been telling us to know to run from lions and/or seek higher ground really well for a few thousand years now. | |

There was a flood and a man was trapped on a house. He prayed to god to save him. Shortly after a man in a row boat showed up. He said "he, climb in the boat!" the man replied "no thanks, god will save me." the man in the row boat left. about a hour late he prayed to god again. Then along came a man in a speed boat. He said" climb in" the man on the roof replied "no thanks, god will save me." the house was almost covered in water by this time. a rescue chopper came, and told the man to get on board, the man said again "god will save me." The chopper left and the man drowned. He went to heaven and asked god "why didn't you save me?" god said " I sent a row boat, a speed boat and a helicopter for you, why come you did not get on one?" | |

So lets listen to wisdom from the richest man in God's book that all can read
Ecclesiastes 11:5 - As you do not know the path of the wind... So you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.
I try not to understand it all ~or pass judgement quickly on what others believe ~ I only stand in total awe most of the time and ponder on the positive things I can extract from every wonderful experience I am happy to have lived.
Yes - some of the comments do say that this should be moved to religious forums, but who knows - Maybe this was meant to reach someone who would never ponder God, but the clicked on the name because it peaked their interest. So that brings hope
Yes forgive us all for we all sin and hopefully we will learn to love each other in the way that life was intended in the story of paradise so we can all enjoy this world :o)
It all seems to be a part of trust - the trust that was first broken with our Maker. If you can't trust yourself at least trust in something as powerful as the Creator of the Universe - what ever you want to call this by - Allah, Jehovah , Lord God, Mother Earth ... they all seem to apply to a power greater than us all. An elderly carpenter was ready to retire. He told his employer-contractor of his plans to leave the house-building business and live a more leisurely life with his wife enjoying his extended family. He would iss the paycheck, but he needed to retire. They could get by.
The contractor was sorry to see his good worker go and asked if he could build just one more house as a personal favor after all these years. The carpenter said yes, but in time it was easy to see that his heart was not in his work any more. He resorted to shoddy workmanship and used inferior materials. It was an unfortunate way to end a dedicated career.
When the carpenter finished his work the employer came to inspect the house. He handed the front-door key to the carpenter. "This is your house," he said, "My gift to you!"
The carpenter was shocked! What a shame! If he had only known he was building his own house, he would have done it all so differently.
So it is with us. We build our lives, a day at a time, often putting less than our best into building. Then with a shock we realize we have to live in the house we have built. If we could do it over, we'd do it much differently. But we cannot go back
We are carpenters. Each day we hammer a nail, place a board, or erect a wall. Life is a do-it-yourself project. Your attitudes and choices you make today, build the "house" you live in tomorrow. Build wisely! And Remember....

I was raised Christian but am more new age now. This book, if you can open up your mind more than a crack, will help you understand God more. God doesn't control you...and He wouldn't....He gave you free will. That is why disasters, terrorists and crazy things happen...for us to learn from. Everything is a choice here...you either learn from it or you don't....sorry, just my thoughts....and whoever posted that this should be in the religious forum is correct! Peace! | |

What you want today, may be totally different than what you may want next year. If the person that your with is not capable of growing with you than your search will be far from over. On the other hand, a real mature relationship and deep intimacy takes a while to cultivate with someone, its an investment. I think those red flags your referring to are a change in your standards it happens, and suddenly different things become more important, and you realize the person your with doesn't have those qualities. This happens all the time, you really like someone initially and then the more time you spend with them the more certain you are that they cannot give you what your needing. Just remember on thing the search can go on forever...and you may never find anyone up to par if your values aren't in line. | |

Posted: 5/16/2008 10:23:28 PM | Gypsy Goddess: Although admittedly in a "jumping around" sort of way, I did read a lot from "Conversations with God". But, eventually I stopped. I stopped when I interpretted that the presentation said that God felt that Hitler did no harm because all he really did was move spirits from this world to the next.
However though, the ten commandments that I remember reading that God gave to man included "thou shalt not kill". Hence, while it's lofty to think of 'just moving spirits to a better place', the methodology that Hitler used was in direct conflict with what I believe to be God's own words (and a directive). And so, to believe that God felt no fault would be contradictory.
I usually try to carry an open mind when reading such things.........But, I can't just throw logic (ie: consistency) away either.
BTW: But otherwise as for the rest of your post about 'free will' and things to learn from: You're completely correct.

Countless and numerous times he has sent me signs that my relationship was not right on. And afterwards Angels to help me heal. That is living proof there is a God that loves everyone here on earth. But, there is a devil who will cheat, rob, and steal to make your life miserable and he uses tools like your gf or bf to do the deed. Really sad... | |

Since my experiences and hearing of others, it makes me even more a believer. I'd like to meet a good lady that i can experience more good experiences with and to find in this I will know he's still looking over me and wanting in me to spread his goodness!
