Oh and btw have any of you having " proof " of the existence of your God any " proof " that your God is the ONE God ...any more than others of a different religion may have.....?
Faith , in my opinion , is something we all have to some degree or other. I for example have faith in my own abilities..

Posted: 7/22/2008 8:14:12 PM | yES- I TOTALLY BELIEVE IN SIGNS--not that one would be enough- maybe three...
I think we all want to know we are with the right person... it helps when things come up and when the misunderstandings and hurt feelings and normal stuff comes up and has to be worked through and let go.... you have something to fall back on that is bigger than a feeling and knowing that even when you get mad or hurt that you have a reason to stay and to work things out and a spiritual connection......
I don't think that it is all that easy to let go and move on when you really love someone. When I get lonely I tend to look back and remember the favorite parts of old love and forget the reasons that the relationship ended...
Knowing that God has set me free like out of the awful thing helps .....still it is perverse and tempting to go back to the cage I got out of!!
you said "I so hope the the fact that I have not got back with my ex (which undoubtedly would have been disasterous and never would've worked)..."
Maybe even though it's painful now you will be glad later. | |

There was a bat flying at my window for hours last night. What do you suppose that means? Probably that you had a light on that attracted lots of bugs and the bat was attracted to the lots of bugs.

On a serious note, I do believe that sometimes God uses "signs" to communicate. I just don't think that every apparently whacked out or inexplicable "sign" I've heard about is a "sign from God". But the again it's a very personal matter so who am I to say that one person's "sign" isn't valid because it wouldn't make any sense to me?
For me, whenever I would have a serious struggle and was overwhelmed by doubt and my faith was under a great deal of stress, I'd see a "sign" of a dove. A white dove to be precise. I would just appear and I'd sit and watch it, and I would feel a great calm, and then it would leave never to be seen again until the next time. Or at least it used to. I haven't seen one in a long time. I looked hard for one a few weeks ago during a time of great struggle, but nada. So I came to realise that I had become dependent on the dove as a sign of God's love for me instead of trusting the Sender of the dove that He did love me. Funny how that worked out. | |

The fact that things have not been able to work between the two of you sounds to me as nothing more than the disposition you both have on making things work. The way you expressed yourself above sounds more to me as if you are trying to make yourself feel better because you don't want it to work and are trying to convince yourself and others that it cannot. With God all things are possible...
Of course, I may be completely off.
Does your husband share your faith?
Either way, I wouldn't worry about it much, He will take you through anything. Personally, whenever my life has taken a turn for the worse, something much greater immediately follows. Although, God doesn't send signs, if this guy isn't for ya I can almost guarantee you that He did tell you so, and I am sure if you try really hard you would remember that it was unequivocal the way He warned you about this moment.
Sometimes we just like to disregard what He tells us, because it goes clearly against what we want, I don't know about everyone else, at least that is what happened to me once...

He's the reason you are here and he'll keep you here until you can fully understand what "faith in God" really is. In the world this is just my opinion, in my heart it's the truth. Posted: 8/14/2008 8:03:04 PM | Belief, faith, call it what you will, God is real. He sends messeges (signs) through, people, through tv, through words you read or hear. As a christian, there is no coincidence, there is no circumstance, it is God. The bible tells us, that we have the power over the enemy, we just have to envoke that power. There are many evil spirits, simply pray at night for peacefulness, good dreams and you shall have them. A christian is comforted in knowing when you pray, God is faithful.
Hocus, Pocus, God is not magic....I saw that quote. The Bible is a living word. In my found relationship with God/Son/Holy Spirit......I can pick up the Bible and now matter where I open, something relates to my life, in that very monet, as I need.
Experience, I was in worship once and I did not understand what the person speaking of what he understood of God's word, so I simply whispered, what does that mean.... The man stopped within seconds, and explained out loud, exactly what I asked, even though it was not the jest of his talk.....God is right on time....
Once very sick, I had a vision to pray for someone, when I told them of the vision, found out they had just had surgery and that night was in pain, about the same time I prayed, they say the pain stopped.....
If your dream is confusing, it is of the enemy.....always remeber that. Anything of God is pure and strong.
And how can anyone ever look around, see the world, and take a breath in.....knowing life, and not know there is a God.???? | |

I was positive that God did just that. Now with hind sight, sure have my doubts. Funny thing is, when I was so sure he did, I was basically an Agnostic, now have doubts and I am a believer.
This question can raise so many others. For example, the "coincidence" of my meeting my ex, leans me to believing that yes God does give signs. How ever, question that to day, as with hind sight, have doubts that God would lead me to go through all the betrayal.
Then again, I look at my Kids, here we go again for I surely like to think they are a 'sign" that certain things are supposed to be !
Right now, am leaning toward God shows no interest at all in what we do , it is all 'free Will' . LOL, when the heart beats faster , spark happens?
Would be very glad to thank him for that "sign"! | |

But maybe I just didn't undertstand the higher reasoning? That is what I have told myself in those circumstances anyway, lol.. sometimes I have wondered why God would answer with such dubious and negative scenarios? Really not sure, but I know that I learned important things about myself and life, and that is never a bad thing.
There have also been times when there are no signs, just my feelings propelling me forward, enough so that I feel compelled forward even in the absence of "signs"... oddly enough, those occasions have turned out positively for the most part... and even when they haven't, I still learned a great deal.
So I guess regardless of whether we believe God is sending us signs, the important factor is how we interpret them ;) | |

I connected with a lady through email and posed the question to her what would "happily ever after" look like at a first meeting. After some discussion we decided to meet. It was Sunday and she went to her church and I to mine, agreeing to meet later for lunch. I go to the ageed upon meeting place (IHOP) and go inside to use the restroom. As I go through the main doors, I enter a small waiting area where a little girl is finishing up her story to her family... " and they lived happily ever after" I stopped in midstride and turning to her mother I said, " I like that story!" Her mother and father both smiled and I walked on. The Holy Spirit speaks in common language to us all. | |

It's up to you to perceive them for what they are.
There is a joke about a man stranded on a roof during flood. He calls "Lord, save me". Along comes a boat, people cry out, jump in and go to safety with us. He answers them "no, my Shepherd will save me". Boat paddles away.
Along comes a chopper, people yell to him "hop on board or surely you'll perish". Again, he replies "God will save me".
Coast Guard boat floats past his house, Guardsmen jump off, try to pry him of the roof, he screams "leave me be, my Savior will come for me". They give up and leave him on his roof..
Sure enough, waters swell, flood increases, man drowns..
He comes to Heaven's gate, looks at Lord and says "why didn't you save me??!!". God replies "I've sent you a boat, helicopter and Coast Guard to lead you to safety. Did you not see them?"
Signs are there. Read them well. | |

. It seems to be quite easy for some of us to perceive them correctly at times I think. I know for sure that I am poor at that talent! Sometimes I find we can think it is a sign, when maybe other explanations are possible.
All the time, I might think of someone who I have not thought of in a while, and hear from them almost right away. This a sign? Maybe it is just some form of ESP?
Always noticed how my Mom seemed to always know what I was doing, have always thought the womans intuition thing is quite true. Hard to know what is sign from him and what else happens.
Like I mentioned earlier, I really use to believe in signs from God. How ever, after seeing so many divorced persons for example, have a hard time thinking they are "signs" from God anymore. Perhaps what we thought was signs from God, were simply the chemical attraction some humans seem to get when meeting others?
Hard to believe God wanted you to meet someone when he knows it will lead to failure. He sure allows us to make these mistakes it seems, so to me that is indicative that perhaps he does not interfere at all. More like, he does not cause us to meet someone, but knows we will anyway, so uses that to make us stronger , better human in some ways.
Certainly after my own failed marriage, I am a lot more tolerant individual . Now, did he want me to go through that betrayal and every thing, or just use it as a way of making me realize how intolerant I have always been?
That is the million dollar question for me. God plan these things, gives signs to push us, or just use them for his will? | |

Posted: 8/17/2008 10:09:57 AM | I think we tend to see supporting "signs" (a form of "evidence") when we want confirmation of things, and often those things are things we want. I know I've tended to do that, to see what I wanted confirmed. When it doesn't work out, we have this conflict because if the "sign" was there it must have been confirmed, and if it was confirmed it must have been God's Will, and if it was God's Will and it didn't work out, God must have known it wouldn't work out, so why did God send the confirming sign because without it I wouldn't have gone ahead, and if I hadn't gone ahead, I wouldn't be feeling all this crap and this pain. What to do? Walk forward wiser, smarter, and more discerning, forgive yourself past mistakes, and remember that "God causes everything to work for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purposes" means that as life unfolds, God is busy redeeming it to Himself for our good.
So you end up in a relationship with someone who turns out to be an obsessive cheat, or an alcoholic, or a gambler, or violent, or has a mental illness that you simply cannot cope with, and you're both miserable and unhappy most of the time, but you were sure God wanted it because you had confirming "signs". God has promised that no matter what He's there for you, busy redeeming the situation, busy making things right, busy bringing His eternal perspective to play, so moving forward in trust in Him we are (hopefully) more discerning next time.

There was this wonderful day at the office, absolutely NOTHING going on for couple of weeks, I was bored out of my mind, which leads to thinking sense of things through, focusing on life path, where am I going etc.
So I'm sitting in the office feeling sorry for self and thinking "God, you did not mean for me to waste my life this way.. blah, blah.. How do I know you exist.. blah, blah.. I want a sign you exists"
Now get this: light flickered, went out... And entire Eastern Board had a blackout 
I swear I'm not making this up
I didn't know it's so big, thought just power went out in our office.. Turned out I had to WALK my sign seeking behind all the way home.
I could not stop chuckling to myself entire 7 hours that walk took.
Crossing Queensborough Bridge I looked up, and said "real subtle"
I don't know.. Coincidence, Divine Sign.. I just know I'm not about to question Signs anymore.

It is amazing to me the differences of opinions even between sisters and brothers in Christ. Wow!! I had to respond to forum buddy... How amazing the Lord did what he did. He is always doing things like that to me. Sometimes it is just an off hand comment to Him or a question asked very flipiantly and He will respond back in a way that I can not deny that it was Him.
My best friend has a birth mark on her ring finger. She will tell people that the Lord gave that to her when she was born to show her, later in life, that from the start He was involved in her life. About 5 years ago I told the Lord I wanted that knowing it was impossible since I didnt have one since I was born. Totally one of those impossible wishes / requests. I forgot I even asked him. So, I dont even remember when exactly I noticed it but a few years ago I noticed this very obvious freckle on my ring finger. So every time I look on my ring finger I laugh. In his own unique and fun way did He show me that He cares about the littlest detail of my life down to my "impossible" requests. How amazing is His love for us and His desire to be apart of our everyday lives down to the tiniest and most mundane pieces. Yeah...
My prayer is that everyone who is on this thread is able in some way experience how amazing GOD is, to be able to rest in His grace and mercy, and to find that love relationship with Jesus Christ. | |

There are signs in everything you see.... everything you touch..... everything you smell..... and everything else you sense in the world...
