I hope any pillions considering riding on my bike would not consider the above advice, sounds like the start of a rear seat driver ( rider )
Not trying to be smart or funny or have a go at anyone.................
My opinion is: A rider is busy enough 'riding the bike' ( especially with a pillion ), without having to worry about what the pillion is gonna do at any time...............
My advice would be to ask your rider what he wants from his pillion....................

Meeting at Yatala still, have jacket, gloves and boots but no helmut...hope to borrow one for the ride....If no-one has a spare bike seat or cant take me...I mite head to the beach for some topless sunbathing perhaps....

I dont mind if the pillion wants to move a little bit, streatch the legs, fall asleep even but do it on the straight bits and not half way round the twisties..... Im always willing to pull over and do the streatch too, and of course supply a massage when required :) I prefer to have a pillion on most times, it's about sharing the enjoyment of the ride with another person.
Again is all about comunication and also getting to know your pillion and rider. | |

Posted: 5/27/2008 5:38:29 AM | What Helen meant by her comment about hips is to just to relax and not be stiff and let your hips move with the motion of the bike not JUMP around on the back of the bike for heavens sake.
She is trying to reassure Deb that there is nothing to be frightened about. And I am sure you will all agree a stiff pillion makes for a hard ride.
As most of you know I have been with riders with fast bikes doing well over 160 and if my hips did not move with the motion of the bike and sat stiff and upright I think they would still be scrapping us both off the bitumen.
Deb my advice is Relax nothing to be frightened of your rider will be considerate of you. Just hang on and enjoy the ride. | |

Posted: 5/27/2008 6:05:10 AM | Hi Debnco! I was scared as anything on my first ride... didn't know what I was doing there, but stayed on and went with the 'fear'. Just go with the rider even if not quite relaxed with your arms around him you'll feel how to go. These guys who take us newbies on are careful with us. You'll love it and come back for more!!!
