Your statement makes great theory, but I doubt you'd be willing to put up with the treatment most interracial couples deal with in everyday life. Sure, we'd all like to think we live in an enlightened age, but, unfortunately, that's not the reality for many. It's not simply a matter of your choice not to be a racist, it's also interacting and putting up with all the hatemongers you encounter along your way. | |

i think guys need to come clean about it on there profile. about what types of girls that they are interested in and state the race. because i find it very offensive and a waste of time when they like my friends profile and they find out that she is not white or hispanic
wtf.......is this a rule now? ok then i guess im gonna have to say i date elfs,ewoks,aliens,wonder women,etc
i say just hit them up an if there interested,then just hook up!
if not go to the next hottie an so on so on so on | |

The truth is, self-reporting on racial preferences has always been skewed because there is a bias that discourages saying you have a problem with someone's race. It isn't culturally acceptable for a white guy to say "I won't date black women." So, he does the next best thing. He says he will, and then finds every excuse in the book to never follow up on the claim.
Now, there is some truth to the comment that maybe race is not the issue 100% of the time. I'll also offer that sometimes it isn't appearance but culture.
I know a guy who used to think he was racist toward black folks until he fell for a woman from Africa. Turns out he really liked black chicks if they were the quiet as a mouse type that you find in Africa. In other words, he didn't hate black folks -- he hated black Americans. Ponder that for a few seconds.
In my own experience, I have to say the quiet African girl I knew and kinda had a thing with in college from Botswana was painfully meek. I didn't want to spend my whole life coaxing some woman out. But, some guys love that quality.
I think in 2008 that's more of what you're up against with white men than just an overt lack of attraction toward black women. | |

Posted: 6/7/2008 12:13:59 AM | Just like you have preferences, everyone else does too... Sometimes people don't like to specifically exclude certain "races" because it seems mean... So they leave the options open and just ignore certain responses accordingly...
I think it has more to do with you than race though. Like an earlier poster wrote, if the woman in question was Beyonce, that white guy might be less inclined to ignore her, and if she was Rosanne, her being white might not help her prospects at all.

The less things the partner has to blame the better. You can say something completely unrelated to race and somehow certain people will make a race issue out of stuff. No fun. | |

My ex bf "even" had two black babes - it does seem this is less common and deemed novel or a headturner. Personally I think interracial stuff is pretty hot. OP I'm sorry you have noticed this trend. It's a particular white guy's personal preference. I know a lot of people who have specific preferences, even though they aren't really racist they would make great friends with any race/creed but a physical romantic attraction is a very specific thing. | |

I don't know why they try to pretend otherwise on the boards and when you write to them it's no response. I rarely write to a White guy. It's a waste of time in almost all insances. cause we live in a society where we like to politely hide our racism...a society in which our racial biases have been so deeply embedded in our society that we do not even see them any more. but if you really think about -- in today's multicultural and plural society, there is simply no valid justification for selection practices based on ancestry / racism alone. however, i will concede that cultural practices do have a role for some people...but that is a whole other story for another time. | |

So in your way of thinking my sister who is white is racist against white people because she prefers latin, native american and black men. I don't think so.
The last beautiful black woman I dated told me she prefered dating white men. Is she racist against black people. I don't think so. | |
