2. At least you're honest about it and not spouting platitudes about being open.
The bottom line is that while, it's not a very progressive way of approaching the world, people have a right to their racial prejudices as long as they don't display them in a way that breaks the law. Lying and saying you're open when you're not or trying to pass it off as "personal preference" is just plain dishonest. People who do this are just trying to escape the consequences of their prejudices and quite frankly it's cowardly.
Oh please forgive me for not being PC with you.

Using her way of thinking you can draw a few other conclusions. The line that she is trying to draw is that if your not attracted to black women or dark black women your sexist. So using her same arguement we can draw these conclusions to be true as well.
A gay man is sexist against women.
A lesbian is sexist against men.
Now no one believes these to be true. They just have a preference (scary concept isn't it) towards a certain type of person. | |

Posted: 6/29/2008 1:15:57 AM | I had just seen a "ask a girl" about women only wanting black guys just before I went to bed. In the post it had (at the time) 3 responses all by women. That if a "woman only wants a black guy that's her preference, everyone has preferences." So I answered based on the responses from this post that those women are shallow. Funny about 4 hours later its been deleted. Also funny about the strange double standard that is out there also. I'm a personality person but I also look at looks. Does my standards include race? Nope none at all.
Because if we are or aren't a match it doesn't matter about race it matters wither or not we are a match.

Unless this "friend" has a preference for white men, which we know couldn't be the case because that would make her a horrible person.
If someone doesn't want to date me because of my height, weight, hair color, race or anything else, I just move on to someone else. I guess I should start posting rambling messages in "Ask a Guy" everytime someone doesn't want to date me, too. | |

Maybe the real question here is this: why is this "friend" so worried about what white men think of her? I mean, how many other races are out there that she could date? How many other individuals are out there for her instead?
If she happens to live in a White or predominantly White community, she would have EVERY reason to be worried. Not everyone is in a position to immediately relocate and it is discouraging to find that no matter what one has to offer, one is automatically ruled out by the men in her area due to race.

If you choose not to date INDIVIDUAL Black women who you have met, that is not racist. If you PRE-JUDGE all Black women and indicate that you would not date ANY Black women, yes my friend you are displaying racial prejudice and you are definitely racist. There is no way you can pretty it up or dress it up and change THAT fact no matter how many capitals you use. So, you may as well just admit it. You aren't ashamed to display the attitude. I know that you was addressing a guy. But this quote should be taken both ways. That it is just as wrong for the woman if you inserted black man instead of woman on both counts. This is a problem of both genders not just the men of the world. But other than that I agree with you 150% on that statement.
I'll say this if I "like someone" or "dislike someone" it has nothing to do with race. I might have other factors that others may or may not agree with. But that's not one of them.

Yes we all have preferences, but because dating is not marriage, why not just date someone and get to know them? It doesn't mean you will marry them, and that's why we don't have to apply our marriage "preferences" to every person we date.
That's fine if your goal is developing friendships, however if you are dating with the intent of getting into a LTR with someone then you want to be more selective.
For instance if you like robust women, then you are not going to be responding to peoples profiles that list their body type as slim. | |

Physical attraction has nothing to do with judging a person's character, intelligence etc based on race, height, weight, religion, hair color etc
I'm generally not attracted to Asian women although there are some exceptions to that. That doesn't make me racist.

if youre in a mostly white community then youre going to have to be thin/athletic get attractive and intelligent white men. the average men are easy to attract but the more attractive ones will give you a chance if youre pretty. living in a big city helps. my boyfriend is asian but ive been proposed to by intelligent and hot white men in the past. | |
