I know that you was addressing a guy. But this quote should be taken both ways. That it is just as wrong for the woman if you inserted black man instead of woman on both counts. This is a problem of both genders not just the men of the world. But other than that I agree with you 150% on that statement.

This thread is in Ask a Guy though and the topic is about White guys discriminating against women who aren't White or Latina so I phrased my comments within that context.
I go on personality,but wouldnt date anybody who wasnt white english
Then you make your selection based on race, ethnicity and language. So just admit it and stop trying to pretend that you "go on personality".

Frankly, your "WARNING" about contacting you and then being sent to your Myspace screams of something illicit. Are you trying to sell your friend and just finding you're not getting top dollar or what?
Your whole profile sounds like BS so why are you posting an inflammatory thread? My guess is to generate more visits to your profile to try to increase sales. If I'm wrong, well...my apologies I guess but hey, at least now you know how your profile can sound to some people.

I think guys need to come clean about it on there profile. about what types of girls that they are interested in and state the race. because i find it very offensive and a waste of time when they like my friends profile and they find out that she is not white or hispanic
Well it's not offensive if you take it that personal. People do have a preference and it's just part of what they like. But at the same time, i don't think it should be a race thing because I feel like you can't say you are open-minded to different races and not live up to the word. If anything people could be more specific ... but if someone isn't interested in you because of that ... move on. There are plenty of other guys out there you know, that will like you for you. | |

Almond-cookie: in my opinion you are a way over the edge. Yes, it is a principle the one you are sticking too, but even a principle, if you stick to hit toooo strongly, will make you look like a moron upsidedown.....Middle ground! People's comments need to be understood and given the benefit of the doubt sometimes.
As far as I am concerned, saying you are not attracted to people of certain races does not make you a racist. Its no different than saying you aren't attracted to blondes or you aren't attracted to certain body types. Everyone has preferences.
Now, if you are saying you don't date certain races and basing that decision on certain stereotypes, then that would be a racist decision

Let's say that I date 10 white men and 3 black men. I am attracted to black men only . Conclusion: I am not attracted to white men, meaning: I prefer black men......Yes, one is making a decision based on colour, ethinicity, background, physical makeup and so on.........so what? It's not like saying "White men are stupid". Now, I agree that generalizations are most often wrong and that one should never generalize, but sometimes people do it out of their own experience, like you would do with statistics, without any dirty intention.
The fact the this was posted to men makes me wonder about the intelligence, maturity and purpose of the OP herself. But with a name like that, what can one expect? And this is not a racist statement.
Message 155 has a point. I feel like reporting the OP now. But I could be wrong.

I don't have any racial preferences in my profile because that is not important to me.
I have dated native women in the past.

The easiest answer online is to say you're A-OK with people of all races dating. Hell, I wanna see an aborigine guy marry a black chick just because it would be hilarious watching them try to explain to people that they're an inter-racial couple!
And, let's be honest, a lot of this issue is about the fact that black folks look less like the rest of us than any other race. The truth is, Asians and Hispanics don't visually jump out as much from the crowd of white people in the US. The truths is, unless you're partner is a seriously Azteca type Mexican, you can probably even pass them off as white or mixed race. Sort of the way northern Europeans came around a century ago to treating Italians and Greeks as being as white as them.
It's a dumb issue, but it obviously never goes away.
Bottom line: it's easier to pass off an Asian or Latin woman. | |

It's refreshing to read your honest reply. But you cannot know content of character until time spent with an individual. Many people (Black or White) fomulate an openion based soley upon outward appearance.
I've oft times contemplated this very question about race and wondered why an attractive, educated and employed, intelligent, outstanding, understanding female (that would be me) receives few responses on any dating website.
I understand preferences, but can't help but think there is something else influencing that preference. Is it media images? Is it past experiences? Is it familial pressure? Is it simply ignorance and/or fear? Is the "browning" of America too much for Whites to take?
Though in my upbringing QTIP (quit taking it personally) was a mantra, it is difficult to do when a person specifically states he/she accepts any race other than Black. And I must add that anthropologically speaking, there is but one race HUMAN! | |

At college i became good friends with a kid from brazil and we spoke about our experiences.........there is no thing over there as euro brazillian or afro brazillian.....everyone is just brazillian........but over here you have to check.......hispanic, black, asian, islander, caucasian.... but when you fly out of the country anywhere in the world....to the world you are an american, period. Not only that certain races get preferential treatment when it comes to scholarships and grants.........fact is all races are not treated equal in this country........
but to stay on topic i've gone on a date with one black woman........she was nice but a bit too aggressive for my liking.....i don't like to be pursued......i hunters hunt, they don't like to be hunted.........plus i like to run my fingers through a girls hair.......i prefer

Was for the CENSUS to determine how many representatives each state got in the "people's house"
SLAVES were counted as 3/5 of a person. Which was a compromise... The south wanted them counted as a full person each so the south could get more leverage in the Federal government... But the slaves were never intended (in the south) to get a vote as to who the representatives would be.
The north, recognizing that a black person (since most slaves were black... note that there WERE white slaves...) was as much a person as a white, but also not wanting the south to get excess power in the federal government due to slavery... wanted to NOT count slaves at all for the determination of how many representatives a state would get.
The South perverted the rule to the best of thier ability for as long as possible. You can thank the Democrats for the way the rule got applied after the civil war.

I really don't care about color but also wouldn't feel very comfortable with Hindu? so there ya have it. when entering a guys site, a quick boast about your race with a nice full body pic added to the memo will solve all your problems with being rejected after you have invested countless e-mails, then the number exchange, then the texting for what seems like eternity, then the discussions about why the guy would like the full body pic when you already gave him your cropped face pic, and then him still not interested after all the personality exchange, and him blowing the girl off..... just come out of the closet right away and say Peek a boo....i like you and heres a pic of what I look like and I am black, white, asian, eskimo, or cowgirl... | |

Posted: 8/1/2008 1:14:31 AM | Well I live in a city wear we have wide sidewalks and white, black, latina, asian, green hair, pink haired mohawk, muslim, whoever, and everyone, suits or not, walk down the same sidewalk side by side and in the subway. Doesn't matter to me what color she is, what matters more is if she is a good person.
I have been to other areas though where it's mostly white and I have seen people be very ignorant towards other races. | |

I really don't think he looked into my genetic history to see if I had any white or hispanic blood in me (which I don't, btw). People are attracted to certain features and personality, not race IMO. I'm open to dating any race as long as they have the features and personality I'm attracted to.

So most of the women I have dated had that trait, mostly hispanics, a few asians, a few black, and a few white. Every ethnic group has its angels along with its ***holes. No one group or color has a monopoly on that.
I have always been firmly of the opinion that if you can't tell with the lights off, it doesen't matter. How it feels like the only power left in your body when she kisses you deeply is just enough to make love to her the way she needs it. It all feels the same cradling her in your arms after a session of epic lovemaking, its two souls sharing a very special connection. Find me anyone who can tell what race/ethnicity someone is with a silent passionate kiss while wearing a blindfold. Not gonna happen. Personally I think blindfolded kisses would make an excellent way for finding potential mates.
Now all I need is a blindfold and a couple hundred blindfolded ladies for testing purposes. Science is such hard work  . | |

I tend to go after pasty pale redheaded gals...it's just what I'm genetically hardwired for...its got to be an Irish thang. or maybe I just watched "A Quiet Man" & "McClintock" with Maureen O'Hara (Superiorly Hot Redhead) one too many times as a kid... 
If you are going to compare Halle Berry with anyone, don't use Rosie...use Angelina Jolie! At least the figures are similar! Even when leaving out the lesbian part of the equation, Rosie just isn't a desireable woman in figure or attitude. | |
