| Lunch and Show at the Greater St. Louis Ren Faire Sunday June 1 2008 Posted: 5/24/2008 8:18:16 PM | I've attended the Faire a few times over the past years with friends and had a great time! A couple of years ago there was a vendor there with some super hand-carved walking sticks - I really coveted one, but discovered them as I was leaving, and had already blown all my cash - hopefully he will be there again this year . . . This will be my first POF event . . . sorry no won't be in costume . . . perhaps more events in the future . . . the Royal Dumpe Theatre sounds fun . . . does this help balance out the guy/gal ratio a bit?

| Lunch and Show at the Greater St. Louis Ren Faire Sunday June 1 2008 Posted: 5/26/2008 8:31:30 PM | Hey Colleen if we go can I borrow one of your outfits? It would be so kewl to be a part of this instead of just being there in plain clothes. Hopefully David, myself and the kiddos will be able to make it. I defin will using 2 dollar off on tickets. Without the discount it will cost us $53 to get in and with the coupons it would be $45. And that isn't including food or drinks. Hopefully we can make it. Maybe we can hit the lotto or something (woo hoo) yeah right like that is going to happen | |

| Lunch and Show at the Greater St. Louis Ren Faire Sunday June 1 2008 Posted: 5/29/2008 5:48:12 PM | I have an outfit and I am ready to go!
One thing on the tickets: if you purchase a two day pass, you get an entry ticket and then a main ticket to bring another day. We should find out if we can purchase those for two people to get in that day. It will save you $2 more dollars! (total cost $9 per ticket)
Just an idea to save more on the entry fee. See you all on sunday at noon!

| Lunch and Show at the Greater St. Louis Ren Faire Sunday June 1 2008 Posted: 5/30/2008 10:38:09 PM | Note about Sundays weather -
STLToday says: SUNDAY Partly Sunny with Thunderstorms H 86 / L67
Good weather or bad I'll be out there on Sunday. Chances are I'll be wearing my big azz Pirate hat. I may suffer heat stroke, but I'm still going to wear it! lol

| Lunch and Show at the Greater St. Louis Ren Faire Sunday June 1 2008 Posted: 5/31/2008 1:49:25 PM | | St. Theresa...lol...I think Shell took her kidlet to this show...not positive. But if memory serves me correctly, it is simply adult content, language wise. She did say that there were plenty with children there. :O) Still...your discretion...but it might not be as bad as it sounds. :O) | |

| Lunch and Show at the Greater St. Louis Ren Faire Sunday June 1 2008 Posted: 5/31/2008 5:33:05 PM | the trails/roads inside the faire are just gravel, and the one road to get to the joust area is pretty steep. They do have handicap parking close to the entrance on the street, and it is paved to the front gate. some of the stores have wheelchair ramps to get up to them. If you get stuck going up the hill to the joust area, we will push you!
I took my son today and it was pretty muddy in some areas. With the rain tonite, I am not sure how the conditions of the trails will be. I was there last weekend, and when it rained, you just went under a tree or into a shop, or visited the pub. Then the sun came out again.
I do have a discounted extra ticket for tomorrow. first come first get.... $9 for the ticket. Let me know who wants it. (It will save you $4 total)

| Lunch and Show at the Greater St. Louis Ren Faire Sunday June 1 2008 Posted: 5/31/2008 7:09:44 PM | New weather update!
Tonight(Saturday): Scattered showers and thunderstorms before 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 65. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Calm wind becoming west between 4 and 7 mph.
As far as wheelchair accessibility Bex, is right. The entire fair is gravel and quite hilly, but I saw several wheelchairs out there today and I'm sure there will be enough to push you along when needed! And most, if not all (disabilities act - hint hint), vendors have ramps into their shops. To get tho the dead parrot and avoid going back down a steep hill when you get past the joust field hang a left and follow the path around. It's the long way but the slope will be MUCH easier!
GENERAL PARKING is NOT by the fair entrace. That area is VERY wet so they are having us park in a field on the top portion of the park grounds and running a tram to and from the entrance. I'm sure the handicaped parking is right by the front gate, but be sure to check with the parking attendant in the orange vest.
I'm a little damp and sunburnt (Yay bodice burn lol) so if I think of anything else I'll be sure to let you know!

| Lunch and Show at the Greater St. Louis Ren Faire Sunday June 1 2008 Posted: 5/31/2008 8:32:33 PM | Well, we once made a trip to Branson shortly after my mother had some major surgery...and we had to utilize a wheelchair to get her around Silver Dollar City. If I could handle pushing her booty(BIG!) around the hills (BIGGER!) and totally inaccessible (GRRR!) areas of SDC, I am sure we could all manage a helping a hand with you, Adaptmaven, at the Fair! :O)
Linda is nursing a headache (That friggin' temperamental Mother Nature B1tch, again!) and is hoping to still make this...and last I heard from Dodie, she and her adult daughter were attending as well, still! :O) So I will be there with Shell and Shell's friends...and maybe bells on my toes! ;O)

| Lunch and Show at the Greater St. Louis Ren Faire Sunday June 1 2008 Posted: 6/1/2008 7:29:05 AM | Hi All, I really wanted to make it to this event, the Ren Faire looks like so much fun and there are some folks I am really looking forward to meeting in person! I was all set to attend today but my husband took a fall this morning and is having a really bad day. I can't leave him here alone like this so I will not be able to make it to the Faire. If it were closer I would but to travel 45 minutes to an hour away is just too far when I never know when I might have to rush back home.
Have a Great Time Everyone...
Dodie

| Lunch and Show at the Greater St. Louis Ren Faire Sunday June 1 2008 Posted: 6/1/2008 6:58:59 PM | well girlie, I did go to the Faire but it was one mishap after another I'm afraid! First I couldn't find it, I had bad directions, I hate Mapquest one of these days I'll learn to use something else. Anyway, when I did get there I went up front to park and got really stuck in the mud. Luckily, some nice gentlemen did push me out so I parked and came in. Wow, when you said gravel and hills you weren't kidding! Everyone kept sending me in different directions so I didn't find the Dead Parrot until almost 2 and didn't see anyone familiar there so I wheeled around and took in a couple of shows. It was definitely an adventure, but enough gravel to last me a life time. I'd still love to meet everyone so I hope we pick a new gathering soon that's a little more wheeler friendly. It turned out to be a beautiful day, did you all have fun? Michelle | |

| Lunch and Show at the Greater St. Louis Ren Faire Sunday June 1 2008 Posted: 6/1/2008 7:13:42 PM | Well, Dodie...glad you ended up making it after all! It was good to meet you in person! Great to meet the others, as well!
Michelle...I am so sorry that you had such a tough time, but glad you got to see some of the shows! The Limey Birds were a riot! And I love, love, love the Belly Dancers...am going to definitely take up belly dancing soon! Shelly and I actually wondered if you had made it...were watching out for a lime green wheelie machine! LOL
Missed seeing a lot of you who signed up...not sure if the others did not make it, or made it but did not meet up...but it was definitely a blast for this first timer! ;O) Am a little sun kissed...VERY tired...and ready for a cool shower and BED! :O)
THANKS TO MISTRESS SHELLE BELLE FOR PUTTING THIS TOGETHER!!!!!
Hope to see you all at the party next Saturday!! See Linda's Barfday Party thread!
