To start off Sola, I'm daft not DEAF [Ref:Caps]. Your right, it has to be said that I do lack in a sense of humour. Its held me back and quite possibly the reason I'm still a virgin. I had a charisma by-pass operation a couple of years ago which has obviously been a great success.I did get a lot of media attention yesterday and was signing autographs for much of the time, enjoyed my little bit of limelight. Aladdin the Laughable: Johnnycomelately1 thinks your a TIT*HEAD of the highest order. Condemning a few football hooligans and labelling them inhuman [& they were from Glasgow actually]for being a bit thick and behaving like naughty children then in the next breath casually suggesting Manchester be NUKED. Johnnycomelately1 suggests your not very bright nor humane and should think before speaking. It may have escaped Aladdin's notice or he was to busy having his lamp rubbed at the time. But Manchester was bombed in recent times by the IRA.
Summary:
Every Rangers fan to a man were excellent [pre-match anyway] yesterday and a credit to their Club, City and country. It all went a bit "tit* up " when the screen packed in as the teams were about to kick off. There were a lot of angry frustrated people about which as a travelling football fan I can understand and appreciate. There was some trouble in town and most of the bars were closed . Its a shame really that a few mindless idiots spoil it for the vast majority who for the most part were good humoured and no problem . Sadly its always the case and invariably those stories make the headlines and fail to mention the good bits.
All in all , I personally would have no qualms about inviting them back , with the odd exception . Most notably the comedian that launched a Budweiser bottle [from about 30 yards, very brave ]that left my colleague with a nasty gash that required half a dozen stitches.

Given the situation, a large scale sporting event(100,000), add copious amounts of alcohol to the mix, a 2-0 defeat and the situation with the big screen then the % of arrests was minuscule. 
I have never seen anything like that in Manchester City Centre before, even when Manchester United brought the treble back in 1999 it was nothing like yesterday. | |

by Rangers holligans and one Zenit St Petersburg fan was stabbed in the ground...
A total of 42 arrests were made after a big screen which was showing the game
to ticket less fans broke down and drunken yobs went on the rampage soon after.
Even a TV engineer who was trying to repair the screen was bottled for his trouble.
If it was English fans causing trouble no doubt all the Scots,Welsh and Irish in the UK
would be calling for UEFA to ban us from European football and condeming us all.
Lets see if the powers that be will ban Rangers from playing abroad...I very much doubt it.

Last night had nothing to do with Scottish football .Remember the outcry when all English football clubs was tarnished with the same brush after Hiesel .Many English teams have been banned from Europe without the whole of England being banned .Why should any other Scottish football fan suffer because of the behaviour of the Rangers fans .
I hope Rangers do get banned they are a disgrace , but not a national one ,they are disgrace to themselves , which I myself do not find surprising .
It is in no way a Scottish problem either .The last time Celtic played away in Europe they had 85000 fans turn up without one arrest and they won the best supporters medal for the tournament .
Another reason I believe Rangers kicked off last night is because they dislike Man U because of their connections with Celtic .
One more thing , why should I want Rangers to win just because they are a Scottish club playing in Europe . They are not representing Scotland they most certainly do not represent me . They represent RFC full stop .That is like saying I should want England to win when they are playing in the world cup just because I live in the so called United Kingdom .Pfffft .No way HoseA . | |

I am Irish so I appreciate the difficulties due to the bigotry the irish who emigrated to Glasgow had to face...Celtic FC has a great history, the origin of that football team and it's evolution was about catholics making their mark in a city which treated them like absolute shite and wanted to keep them impoverished...there's a hugely interesting documentary about it somewhere..I might search for it.
Living in the republic of Ireland or Eire means that I don't have to face on a daily basis the bigotry of sectarianism but I know from friends who live in glasgow that it is something they have to contend with daily...obviously not on a par with the experience of people who live in Ulster. But I find it absolutey outrageous that in this day and age of apparent enlightenment and greater understanding that people...some people continue to be so hateful...whatever happened to the idea of being sporting and just getting on with the business of admiring skill and hard work ?
Also how can those ranger fans be proud of their behaviour in Manchester which most of us have seen on cctv images...I don't get how they cannot be dignified ..and behave like normal human beings but prefer to be hooligans..how shameful.
Anyway...I don't have anything against ranger fans or glaswegians...I just despise the wankers who are exploitive and are horrible bullies with no empathy who imagine that promoting nastiness is really ok because it's traditional...innit ?... and anyway they still drink with their catholic mates afterwards.
I am so happy that is not my reality...

While if condemn the mindless idiots who caused all this in first place more commonly knowen as " Casuals" who also had english and irish accents and were not wearing any signs of team colours ( can draw your own conclusions from that) . The Manchester police have to accept some of the critisim in the way they charged at the majority of peaceful rangers fans by targeting fans heads with there batons. As for the messages about rangers getting banned from europe? You go to any english premiership game on any given weekend and try tell me that level of violence isnt evident? West Ham , Chelsea to name but two have well knowen and very violent "Casuals". The sectarianism between rangers and celtic fans cheezybreeze i sadly cant see coming to end in my lifetime anyway. All over some battle a million years ago involving a dutch gaylord .

Thanks for that I appreciate it but there was really no need. I was winding people up really and if you dish it out then you should be able to take it on the chin.If you don't know me or have never read any of my posts then you wouldn't know that I was just being mischievous. As I said in a previous comment its a shame that for the vast majority that a few mindless idiots spoil it for tens of thousands of people who behaved impeccably. Good behaviour doesn't make tabloid headlines so the images shown on TV of riot police and cars turned upside down etc.. are the ones that live in the memory.Manchester was like a bomb site yesterday and the amount of rubbish,bottles, broken glass etc was unbelievable. The cost of cleaning it up will be left to the council who are funded by the likes of me and will probably exceed the money the City made from staging the match here.
Manchester is well used to staging massive events and the criticism of the police is unfair in my opinion. The only criticism I would level at the police is allowing people to drink on the street which is illegal here. Allowing people to walk around drunk carrying glass bottles is a recipe for disaster. They are lethal weapons in the hands of a drunken moron. My mate/colleague will testify to that having been hit on the head with one that was thrown from the other side of the street. That could of hit a woman, child and caused a hell of a lot of damage. My mate will have a sore head for a few days but no lasting damage , maybe a scar but he'll live.Ive travelled all over the country and abroad watching football and on occasions been embarrassed by the behaviour of some so called fans.
Manchester is one of the worlds great City's and extended the welcome mat out for all travelling Rangers fans. They set up three large screens with bars,food and toilet facilities etc to accommodate the travelling masses. What other City would do that ? Unfortunately a few decided to take the p*ss which will no doubt mean everybody will be made to suffer as a consequence. Its already been announced that the champions league final will not now be shown on live screens in Manchester City centre next Wednesday as was planned. I'm not a Utd Fan but that will be a disappointment to the many thousands who had planned a night out in a party atmosphere next week. On a personal level its cost me money as I have lost a nights work. | |

Msg 47 I can't tell from your post if you are affiliated with either the rangers, celtic or man u..your claim to be a sheep shagger has further confused me and made me assume you may be a welshman/ outer hebridian citizen..or possibly someone from New Zealand.
Anyway if you were up on your knowledge of the politics of the rangers/celtic saga you would know that they are making huge inroads into encouraging fans to be less sectarian by banning emotively offensive team chants from being sung at matches between them both...
Wasn't the chairwoman of the Celtic fanclub sacked for suggesting it was perfectly ok to sing what would/could be seen as songs which would incite hatred..because it was all about history..
People should know personally how to conduct themselves and behave..getting caught up in some kind frenzy and excusing your behaviour as a moment of peer inspired madness is a bit rich..you can be a sheep shagger all you like because to my mind it's far less perverse than being an actual sheep and following the crowd. | |
