Posted: 5/16/2008 10:40:36 PM | | Last one ended 13 years ago in August...but, a large portion if that time was spend recovering from a serious illness...and then I went back to school for awhile..before that it was 2 years between my divorce and that relationship...Have actually only been interested in dating for about 2 years... | |

Posted: 5/16/2008 11:17:30 PM | Well over a year now since any relationship beyond friends, never tried FWB since I'm not sure I could do that. 6 1/2 years as a full time single dad has limited the type of relationship I'd be willing to commit to.

I haven't been in a relationship for many years.. I dated someone for a couple of months that I fell too easily for earlier this year.. and it has now ended.. and I am not eager to fall again for a while.. I am gonna keep things light hearted and fun.. and definitely guard my heart for a while.. | |

Looks like I need a well deserved break! Moving country soon though, so who knows?!?
I usually end up hooking up with someone whenever I relocate... must...resist.....lol | |

I have dated on and off within the past 2.5 years but nothing serious.
I did not feel the need to jump back into the dating scene until I was ready to do so, without bringing baggage into a potential new relationship.
All too often people tend to jump back into the dating scene, to simply be with someone. Not only do I not see that as being fair to the new person, but I think you have to get over the past in order to be able to move forward.
Over the past 2.5 years I have been able to self reflect, and try to resolve any of my self perceived flaws, and I now know that I am ready to bring"the complete me" to any new relationship which is in my future. What I mean by that is, I am able to go into a new relationship with no ties of emotions still lingering for my ex, I have all the closure I need and am open to meeting someone and just simply being myself.
This was confirmed when I saw my exes wedding photos, and the first thing I thought when I saw them was "good for her, I hope she is happy".
I believe in quality relationships, not quantity, so if I have to wait another 2.5 years to meet that special person..... so be it. The best things in life are worth the wait, the hard work and all the frustration that comes along the way, because in the end ...happiness is worth it. | |

Posted: 5/25/2008 4:33:19 AM | 8 years since the last serious one, 3 weeks since the last short-term one, it lasted almost 3 months and was with someone I met on POF. I also dated someone for 1 month off of POF, in retrospect, I wish we had stayed friends. She was too formal for me but we enjoyed our flirtatious banter a bit too much...

Now I can't see myself ever getting in that situation again, at my age. It's nice to finally enjoy life again...it just took a while to get there. | |
