| Movie reccomendations Posted: 6/10/2008 5:02:12 AM | | I just saw the latest offering from Guillerma Del Toro (director of Pan's Labyrinth), The Orphanage; very spooky! Think of The Shining set in a dilapidated disused orphanage. Look out for the lame American remake in a couple of years if you can't cope with subtitles. | |

| Movie reccomendations Posted: 6/10/2008 5:43:46 AM | ^^^I have to agree with you Pedro, easily the best film I've seen this year. As for the subtitles; I took my 14 year old (who has the attention span of a ...well... 14 year old) and he said he hardly noticed them he was that engrossed in the film.
I don't think I'll be looking out for the hollywood remake though, already seen what they did to 'open your eyes' (vanilla sky) and 'Nine Queens' (Criminal).
But yeah The Orphanage... very spooky, and heart wrenching in parts too.

saw i am legend and it was a bit disappointing i thought they cudve done alot more with that one. the movie of the year would have to be american gangster it is brilliant.
I couldn't agree more, I Am Legend had so much missing from it, what happened from the moment the chopper blew up to when we see him wake up and go into the city with only him and his dog left? Great special effects but that's about it, the story sucked.
American Gangster was an incredible film, around 3 hours long but well worth it. Another i forgot to mention was "The Illusionist".... If you haven't seen it then go get it, you won't be sorry!

I Am Legend had so much missing from it
I think this movie could have been much better. For one, the diseased people really should not have had super human abitities. I don't care how diseased you are, a human body is not capable of scaling a building like a cat or punching through brick walls and putting your head through bullet proof glass. They should not have been made with CGI and should have been more like the zombies in the "Dawn of the Dead" remake. As in real actors with normal human abilities. That just put me off but I still did really like the movie.
The Illusionist was good but The Prestige was much better. I saw Boondock Saints the other day. It's about 8 years old now but was one of the best movies I have seen. If you like movies about vigilanties you will love this one.

| Movie reccomendations Posted: 6/12/2008 6:06:42 PM | Last movie I saw in the theater that left a lasting impact was "No Country for Old Men". Some hated the ending, but from what I hear it's faithful to the book so who am I to complain?
"I Am Legend" was done better already, see "The Omega Man" with Charlton Heston.
I'm a great fan of Marvel Comics. Saw "Iron Man" -- extremely fun. Looking forward to "The Incredible Hulk", opening tomorrow (something to see after work and kick off my weekend).

| Movie reccomendations Posted: 6/20/2008 6:35:28 PM | | Just saw the new Stephen King movie called the Mist last night. Wow, not a bad movie at all but it had the most horrible ending (horrible as in depressing and sad). Please do not watch this movie if you are depressed!! | |

| Movie reccomendations Posted: 6/20/2008 11:23:54 PM | Saw the new Narnia movie on Saturday. I've always loved the Narnia books but after seeing the Prince Caspian movie I've remembered that it was my least favourite. Very dark.
I also just watched Kung Fu Panda with my son. That was amusing. Some memorable cool lines and I thought the animation of the tiger who is the villain was well done esp when he was menacing towards the end.

| Movie reccomendations Posted: 6/21/2008 12:24:43 AM | "Into The Wild"... awesome film... took me back to the sweetest days of my youth...except with a different ending... Screen play is written by SeanPenn, based on a true story , set in Alaska's wilderness with EddieVedder all yum and acoustic giving it a great 'feel' with the melodic sound track... | |
