| Darling shafts the poorest- AGAIN! Posted: 5/14/2008 3:42:44 PM | 4Dexter, I will forgive you for your good on you voting conservative stuff, you look far too young to remember 4 million plus unemployed, double digit inflation and interest rates, more people living below poverty line than ever before, record house repossessions, continual boom and bust, the family silver being sold off, oh and the only ones it seemed that were being hit? The worst off. We still suffer the legacy of that bloody woman.
This government has many faults but is nowhere near as bad as that rabble were, AND it is completely hypocrytical of Slimey Dave and his mates all crowing on about the 10p tax band they voted against in the first place.

| Darling shafts the poorest- AGAIN! Posted: 5/14/2008 9:41:18 PM | Th current labour party is now as corrupt as the conservatives were . But at least the tories ruled ONE britain with ONE government. Herr Gauleiter Brown has NO mandate to run ENGLAND as,among so many other things, he bottled out of calling a general election and reneged on his promise to hold a referendum on the european treaty.Let us not also forget that he is a SCOTTISH MP with a SCOTTISH constituancy yet HE makes laws that cannot affect scotland. That is not DEMOCRACY that is TYRANNY. He and his party are now far more morally corrupt than the tories were. Its time they were kicked from office. I voted labour into power in 1997 like so many others did.I had a dream of a better britain. That dream has died. The labour party as as fiscally corrupt as the tories were. This labour party is far more moraly corrupt than the tories were.. Its time to call a general election. And its time for an ENGLISH parliament. | |

Of course they dont. They dont run a business.
A business takes risk and can lose everything, a person on a salary /government handouts dont take risk.
you're too nice to argue with and i'm getting bored of this topic,
Bored or admitted defeat?

The problem with just simply increasing the tax allowance by £600 is that many more people benefited from it than was intended (ie people earning above [approximately]£16K but less than the upper band [£30K?]). For this reason, £2.5billion is required.

How sweet of you to say so, I was writing it so the hard of thinking could understand. I probably should not worry my pretty little head about it- it does not affect me, but since I qualified as an accountant 20 years ago, I just seem to notice these things.

| Darling shafts the poorest- AGAIN! Posted: 5/15/2008 12:44:26 PM | ^^^ LOL
The 10p tax is 10% of what you earn over your allowance. up to a limit of 2,230 or whatever she first said... so you didnt start paying 22% until 7k odd...
This explained the situation far better.
The OP's Figures look like they work out to what she says but in reality... completely wrong. In reality the poorest earners will be up to £10/£20 per year worse off.
