No, In-n-Out Burger did... One of them drive thru wedding chapels in Vegas. (East of I-5.)

Speaking of drive-thru everything nowadays, I wonder if gas prices are discouraging certain first dates. It seems some people on this site have traveled far and wide to meet up.

Those men say that because most of the women's profiles say they like "walks along the beach". So the men are just saying what they think the women want to hear. What a game!

Oh Sockie, ever the romantic.

Dating locally is good right now, and have not felt the need to hit the beach yet.

Gosh, I prefer to just go have a drink for a first date. Coffee is okay too, but I prefer to just go have a beer or wine and meet up and see where it goes from there. Now, of course if a man will take me to Home Depot on our first date, I'll be his forever!!!

No, no, no Barbe! Home Depot is a place we go to GET a first date! Although you MUST be prepared for the occasional dead trips to HD (Depending on the quality of men shopping that particular day), even then, it's usually a great place ogle those in the construction field!

Is this a first date or a first meeting?? There's a difference. If you live near the beach there are lots of places to meet for coffee on a first meeting. For a real date you don't have to be "on the beach", just looking at it from a restaurant is nice and if things go well it is great to stroll near the beach after dinner, especially if you are both feeling some chemistry.

I think the first thought in a woman's mind is to be somewhere to meet for the first time that the woman will feel safe, after all the media has scared everyone how many terrible things can happen when you meet a "stranger." Personally I have met several people by the beach, and never had a problem.

Sounds beautiful. If the date is a dud there is always the beauty of the beach to occupy one's attention.

It is because when the man doesn't want to hear a word the woman has said, he he can blame it on the waves.

Also because there are wet T-shirt contests and lots of other women walking around in bikinis.

It's a Kill 2 birds with one stone type of thingy.

I saw a lady's profile just this evening--and her idea for a great first date was to get some coffee at the beach and then take a walk along it. So I don't think it's just guys suggesting it.

But if she didn't suggest it, I'm not sure I would--especially if it was kind of deserted. Not because I don't think it would be fun, but for the same reason I suggest meeting at a public place at first, rather than picking a lady up at her place. Until she knows me, I'm careful not to do anything that might make her feel uncomfortable.

Good point--I'd never thought of it quite like that. And if we REALLY want to make sure not to make women uncomfortable, we should probably also not phone them. Or even e-mail them, for that matter. But something tells me they'd complain about that, too. Da**ed if we do, da**ed if we don't . . . .

Was there any significant correlation in what women wanted? (Just curious.) I don't think I have enough information to analyze without that. Unless you'd like something like four out of ten men like to walk on the beach. <-- where's the astute statement icon? :-)

The beach has a lot of opportunity for romantic settings, which may be why men are thinking of it. It also has some negative press which would make women not want that or a first date. Coffee is an 'in' thing. Chocolate cokes were also an 'in' thing once. Better than coffee IMHO

The db level of the surf can slow down conversation, but it really hits on a much more primitive level than that. It can take you to a first people, only people in the world feeling. And yes, barefoot would be nice! I'll carry shoes and rescue you from the big wave attacking you while you're picking up that long whippy piece of seaweed with an evil gleam in your eyes :-)

If you are going to do the walk on the beach thing, might I suggest that you pack a blanket and a towel in your car. Towel to dry off the tootises after the little stroll in the surf and a blanket in case you decide to sit down and talk for a while. Will make you look like a true Boy Scout. If you feel that a blanket conveys the wrong message, take a couple of lawn chairs instead. But, the blanket is still great to have handy in case the ocean breeze gets too chilly.

Gosh, I MISS the OCEAN!!! Waaah, Waaah, Waaah...................................................

....and extra points if it doesn't look planned....

^^^LMAO The above several posts are great.

Should lots of fluids be consumed prior to walking on the beach,
in case one of you is stung by a jellyfish?
O4... any comments?

Maybe Yes: I'll protect you from that no good jellyfish! (me and Dudley Do-Right!) !!!

o4--- I meant that the admirable Boy Scout quality of "Being Prepared" was obvious in your beach adventure preparations. I was thinking about YOU at the beach, not your son........

BUT, wait, it will happen. Just don't let him read this forum and get ideas.
