Costco would be a great first date... free samples, crowds and the necessity for a photo ID to enter.
What a great idea. Walking through the book section you could learn about their tastes in reading and philosophies on many different things. Food section would give you some lifestyle tips .... yeppers.... it could be quite informative and revealing.

| First date statistics Posted: 5/18/2008 9:23:47 PM | Even Wal-Mart was giving free samples yesterday, and no photo i.d. required for entry. We catered my sister's first wedding using Costco trays, not samples - perhaps we didn't push the envelope far enough and should have tried for Costco sponsorship.
Anyone care to make an analysis? All that caffeine for first dates. Is it to keep us awake?

You know, if anyone there is full of...

Are you sure it isn't a "From Here to E-Harmony" fantasy ??

I thought men wanted nice girls... Momina, Momina, Momina, you've been in the forums long enough to know that nobody wants nice girls or nice guys.

Hmm, I had a second date with a guy at the beach...and I did deduce later that he was more than likely still married....

| First date statistics Posted: 5/20/2008 4:36:15 AM | The engineer in me wants to know what method of randomizing you used. Was it something like rolling a die, or did you just pick profiles pseudo-randomly from a set of search results? The latter is more suscepetible to subconscious taint.
Curiously, most of the women's profiles I see say that they are interested in walking on the beach. Sadly, I'm not so fond of that activity.

Oh, well that does not explain my run of bad luck. Y'all know I am not nice! Maybe you're mean when you should be nice and nice when you should mean? Maybe you're mean to the wrong people and nice to the wrong people?
What do I know? Sigh. | |

Love the question. Finally someone as anal as I am and with as apparently little to do, since it's not like I date on anything...
Here is my policy Bob:
I am usually nice until you make me really mad. Then I am assertive or firm. I don't get mad too often, I very rarely raise my voice. I hate to shout. I make a concerted effort to communicate with people when I am getting irritated to avoid this. It takes me too much time to calm down when I am angry, so I try not to do it.
Everyone gets one chance to betray my trust and if they apologize I forgive them immediately. I figure everyone deserves a second chance.
I get downright nasty when I am betrayed twice. A lifetime of being a dedicated fruit fly has given me a tongue like Oscar Wilde on aqua regia.

Okay so now be the opposite. Be a bitch until you really piss someone off, and then be nice. And when they forgive you be a big bitch again. And somewhere in between screw like a sailor on shore leave. Oh the drama!

screw like a sailor on shore leave Hey! I resemble that remark! Well, a sailor _does_ have a reputation to uphold.

In that case, you'd love Usenet--assuming you're not there already.

"you'd love Usenet" .... "been there for about 16 years. Was on FidoNet before that"{/quote]
Been so long since I've been on usenet I didn't even know it was still there. Ahhhhhh.... the memories. My first BBS was KL in 1987 or 88 .. then Fireside and Eyeontheworld until Internet.

| First date statistics Posted: 5/25/2008 8:52:11 AM | | Once again I'm like the men! I suggested a stroll on the beach and coffee. I love any opportunity to be at the water's edge and since I live right by the ocean it's perfectly easy. Thanks for the research. I found it highly entertaining. I'm also a woman who would rather play golf than be at the mall. Guess I'm a little odd, and loving it. | |

| First date statistics Posted: 5/27/2008 12:16:27 PM | Momi, Your threads crack me up. This one especially. I don't have as much time on my hands as some I've noticed and still I found myself reading post by post from beginning to end laughing the whole way through this morning. Thanks for that and for opening my eyes to several opinions about walking on the beach cliches. I live at the beach. As much as I love the ocean I didn't list a walk on the beach in my first date POF section. If the guy can't come up with an idea of his own for where we should meet he leaves it up to me. This is about 98% of the time. I've been known to suggest we meet for the first time at one of my nearby piers for a drink. If the date goes well we can then have lunch/dinner at many of the restaurants, maybe listen to one of the bands that play nightly and/or walk on the beach. There are many possibilities there to suit anyone's likes. I'd love it if the guy could have an idea or two of their own other than Starbucks which I find loud and boring. I had one first date where we actualy walked through a Botanical Garden. I loved it! It was beautiful, quite and gave us time to talk and get to know each other very casually. Since the walk went well we decided to go grab something to eat. I guess we could have left and went our separate ways and other than feeding the parking meter, the meeting wouldn't have cost a dime. In our case, I guess we wanted more! Thanks again for making my day. | |

The Botanical Gardens are a great idea. The Arboretum would be nice too, because if my date irritates me I can leave him saran wrapped to a tree.
Resistance is futile. | |

and if theres a date palm nearby, you could have him bagged with the other dates on the tree until he becomes ripe.... or dries up.* see the fruits and nuts section or the recipe threads of the POF forums
|
| First date statistics Posted: 5/27/2008 9:02:01 PM | | That's a great idea! And after the date is dried up, send him to Granola Valley, where all the fruits, nuts and flakes live. | |
