I refuse to join any site which asks me to pay to talk to other people. Screw that. In that case, I may as well start meeting people for free in the "real world"! *cringes at the thought* :-P
lol, it's funny because it's true...I may not go out often, but I still go out often enough to meet people in the real world if necessary

| Have you tried one of the other free online dating sites? Posted: 5/25/2008 9:02:25 AM | I have been on here off and on over the last few years, met some wonderful friends and such. There aren't many free sites available, or they are free to join, but pay for contact. I have joined another free site miblackbook.com its a newer dating community but I think it can go far. The on site instant messenger service "my presence" is the best I've seen with options for cam/audio chat. | |

| Have you tried one of the other free online dating sites? Posted: 5/25/2008 6:02:37 PM | I don't see the pop up you are talking about.
I've tried a lot of others, most just caused spam and worse. I really liked ok cupid, but it's more addictive than this site, and there's no discussion forums, but I like the forums in ivillage better. Don't know why I try online dating at all, really, I live too far. I get tons of mail through CL, also, doesn't work due to distance. I've begun dating locally, anyway, so I'm just not online much anymore as it is.

| Have you tried one of the other free online dating sites? Posted: 5/25/2008 6:14:56 PM | | Reading above, someone said does have discussion forums? groan. I got stuff to do in real life... I need to just delete everything.... in fact, I was certain that I HAD deleted at OK and at match, but mysteriously, such is not the case.... | |

| Have you tried one of the other free online dating sites? Posted: 5/25/2008 6:26:52 PM | hmmm, let's see i've had profiles on singlesnet and a few others that are "paid" sites and they just don't compare to here. in pof you have the different searches, the forums (and so many i might add ) and it's just more fun to get to learn about everyone out there and what everyone tends to think let alone offer. there is one other site that i know of that has forums too and that's bikerkiss but only a paid member can contact a non paid member first...i think, it's been so long since i've been in there to read the forums. | |

...*squeezes her titties* Well hell, now my retinas are burning with that vision in my head. Red? Manbat whack me, would ya?
This site is by far the bestest of the best IF YOU WORK IT.
WORK IT GIRL..................*struts down the PoF runway..... trips, falls and shows her panties to the crowd.
well shit.
If you want something out of this site, or any other, it's up to you to put the effort into it. Hell, for someone that's not even dating right now, I have more emails coming in daily than I care to shake my lace panties at.
*sorry... that pantie thread earlier today has stuck in my psyche... and won't let gooooooo!

| Have you tried one of the other free online dating sites? Posted: 5/26/2008 8:58:12 AM | | I agree with jazmella and refuse to pay to talk to other people online. Years ago I tried a couple of other sites, put up a profile, never paid, but could reply users that paid that contacted me first. I never had any good experience on those sites. I like this one the best, mostly for the forums and if I don't get any email or any replies from the emails I send.........I'm not out anything and if I'm lucky I will get to make some new friends. | |

| Have you tried one of the other free online dating sites? Posted: 5/26/2008 9:14:28 AM | | I'd never pay to meet people either. Singlesnet is a horrible site, you don't have very much criteria to search by. Plentyoffish has a lot of people to choose from, so I've met more people on here but I've like the people I've met via Ok Cupid much better. I'm actually still friends with most of them. They have a nifty little matching algorithm that probably helps a ton. However, nothing beats the PoF forums. | |

| Have you tried one of the other free online dating sites? Posted: 7/5/2008 6:11:45 AM | | I also saw the ad "try out the other free dating sites"..I went into one of those to find out only the SIGN UP is free...After that you must pay....I have only found 2 completely free dating sites...I do believe that is false advertising . I think we are on the best site there is..Plenty of Fish has many people...I have met several and they are all nice people..Have not met "the one" yet... | |

There's a pop-up ad on THIS site, I'm sure we've all seen it, Not all of us. In Windows, disable Active Scripting and Scripting Java Applets, and you won't see that trash either.
I look at several free sites occasionally and must say that the others' forums and comments tend toward acute lameness. You've heard of the Dumbing-Down of America? It's there, all right! As for the pay-sites, well, you can imagine how easy it would be to fabricate a profile and a come-on letter that you (the generic "you") would be very tempted to reply to.

| How can those be good dating sites? Posted: 7/20/2008 12:41:49 AM | The top two sites listed there are Singlesnet.com and UsearchLocal.com Both of these "top sites" lack a REAL search tool. By this, I mean you cannot use YOUR criteria in searching for a partner. Thus, you cannot specify age, or religion, or interests, or height, or weight, or income, or marital status, or other things which may be crucial to you. To me, this makes these sites VASTLY INFERIOR to P O F. At least their third listing, TRUE.com does have a normal search tool.If you want, you can make contacts there for free. To do this, you take a free trial, which allows you to use all there services for a specified number of days. If you cancel within the specified time, you pay nothing. Of course, they hope you won't cancel! | |

| Have you tried one of the other free online dating sites? Posted: 7/20/2008 2:18:22 AM | they usualy say "easy and free to make a profile and start browsing" but thats where the free and easy ends.
This site seems more interested in actualy helping people find a partner as best it can as apposed to taking your money so your chances of finding what your looking for are a little greater... until you have to pay again or what ever.
The only adds i see on PoF are adds for other dating sites, doesnt supprise me, all these sites offering you features you need to pay for to get, then PoF comes and says, "You can have it for free from me." all these other sites are going to be trying to get people with money to burn by trying to convince them that if you throw money at them in order to be allowed to send someone a message or contact them at all, you will find your partner faster.
PoF site owner is probably making a nice bit of pocket change from the douche bags who pray on the lonley ^_^
