what would i do?
well... beside the obvious running up the credit bill.. travel the world.. eating exotic food..etc..

i'd try to make peace with God.. (now would be a good time to suck up to the guy)

and leaving something worthwhile behind.. like a piece of art.. Donate it to a school or library..
so my name could live on. (((((fame)))) i want to live for ever!!!

I would tell my beautiful daughters that I love them and have sence the moment I saw their sweet faces and for them to go on and dont cry over me ... tell the rest of my family I love them and then my friends ... Some how I would find away to see the ocean I never have seen and always wanted to sense I was a little girl ... When I got to the ocean and stared at how remarkable , wonderful and beautiful it is ... I would look up at the sky and say ... Lord I have questioned your exsistence all my life .. If you are there I ask you to hear me please ... I am sorry ... I am so very sorry I failed you and everyone when I was younger ... I hope you know I tried with all my heart to put up with all the hurt and pain that ppl and life has givin me ... Please Lord I realy did try to be the best I could these last years ... I forgivin everyone and gave has much as I could to everyone that I could ... I realy did ...

December 7th 1999 I landed in hospital with a stroke and congestive heart failure. For anyone who knows about these things my ejection fraction was 11%. The doc told my then gf that if I lived for the next two weeks they'd have a better prognosis.

So trust me, sex, trips, money all the what ifs never came into it. To be honest until I was told 6 months later that I wouldn't need a transplant I was a typical male cardiac patient... bitter with the world because everyone gets to live and I miss out. I'd like to point out that I'm now fitter than I was and quite well thanks to a couple of magic pills a day and a cardiologist who is both a genous and a saint. :-)

However... as I was laying in my hospital bed two thoughts crossed my mind:
1.) I won't have to do my tax, some other bugger can do it, and
2.) I wonder how Star Wars will end? :-)

Well, after my golden sarcofagus was all finished, and the pyramid in place...(jus kiddin) The peace with the Maker is paramount. I'd repent & ask forgiveness for anything I left hanging. I'd have Holy Communion, thank God for the gift of life, and all the blessings & lessons. Then I'd ask, at the everlasting banquet, am I gonna be a server, or a guest.
Does cheesecake, sex, or travel really matter when Jesus comes to get you? I think not.

If you knew you were going to die

Three years ago I was faced with the possibility of my
death. I was in ICC being taking into surgery every other
day. I did a lot of praying, at one point even asking
God to just go ahead and let my die because the pain
was so bad. I told all my loved ones I loved them.
Even now three years later - I never miss the chance to tell
the people I care about I love them.Plus I thank God a lot for
bringing me through it. It does make a difference in how I live
now. If I want some thing I go for it. I make my own self happy.
I am more independent than I ever was, I don't sweat the small
stuff anymore. Long term I am being treated for post traumatic
stress cause I still have nightmares about all the surgery and the
ghastly smell of the wound pump and the noise it made. Other than
that I feel I am a better person now.

Supplementary...

I went to a church school and was bought up as a God fearing person. Of course by the time I was about 17 I'd seen through organised religion, and then gone on to decide I was an atheist. I'm happy to say that at no stage in my grieving process did I consider believing in a God who may have been able to help. My faith was in medical science, and the inevitability of death. It actually gave me a lot of faith in myself that even then I didn't seek any paranormal or supernatural support.

Last December I did think I was going to die. I had a very bad case of food poisoning and ended up in the hospital. I figured if I didn't die from the pain, I would have someone put me out of my misery. During that time I considered what I wanted to change in my life in case my life was cut short. The one thing that came to my mind was soooooooooooo boring! I decided I wanted a new kitchen, so I took some money out of my very modest savings and remodeled my kitchen. Woohoo! I have been a risk taker thoughout my life. I have traveled, done some fascinating things, and had some exciting relationships. So I'm not wanting for much. If I found out I had 6 months to live, I'd quit my office job and let my condo go into foreclosure. I may possibly go into a monastery. I'd work really hard to release any lingering resentment or hurt toward others so that I could die in peace.

WOW ... WONDERFUL storys of living and God ... I know that when I was in the hospital thinking my life was about to end 3 yrs ago ... I did talk to God not knowing if he was there and I asked him to not let it end like that and to give me more time ... I know I wasnt thinking of sex , money or anything like that ... That exsperience changed how I now deal with the pain of being raped , molested and verabaly abused etc .. Now I am happier for the time I have here and do my best to be the best mother , daughter , sister , friend and person I can be ... I smile and laugh more than I ever have ...
... Life is short ...

Actually, I nearly did die a few weeks ago- Laughed so hard I couldn't breath and inhaled some water into my lungs. Couldn't breath for about 3-4 minutes. Thanks Glenn for pissing yourself laughing ;) - It was funny in a wierd way. (felt like I wasn't going to make it- but it felt damn good.. can't explain it...) anyway- Me last day>>>

Steal a Tornado GR4- Take it for a spin.
Get my hands on a Yamaha RZ1 - Take it for a spin.
Hotwire a GT40 - Take it for a spin.

Spend a few hours with the folks,
Have a f**king outrageous party,
Sleep with some incredibly attractive gals (you did ask)
Smoke even more than usual
Sup on a nice 'ol bottle o' jack while listening to Bluegrass.
Tell all my Ex's cheers for being part of the ride.

Probably, if I'm honest, take the GR4 for yet another spin.
Turn her upside down, fly at 10 feet, and eject.

Now that, is the way I'd like to go.
If I can still walk (doubtful) I'd have another smoke, and take the bike out again, and crash into something hard.

;) - what a day.

"Live your dreams and let nothing stand in your way. Live free. Live with no regrets. Take this life and make it everything you ever wished it could be."

Fookin lovely quote mate. I have to say though- saying bye bye to women who were part of your rollercoaster ride... never seems to get easier. Well- maybe a lil'.

My outlook on this is quite different.
Say I was going to die tomorrow and I knew it.
I would seek revenge on all my enemy's. Do whatever I want.
Reak havok on everything I hate! And hey if I got shot by a cop what's the difference I'm going to die anyway.

I wouldn't tell anyone. God... I'm gonna die, and now I have to be embarrassed about it too? I'm in the hospital with the flu or a rotated sacroiliac or whatever.

If I had a year or two as a heads up, I'd probably start writing everything I'd want to tell my kids had I lived long enough to do it.

i think it depends on a number of factors including whether you believe in life after death.
If you do, you will most likely believe in karma or judgement so you will want to make it up to those that you have hurt. If not, i suppose you will want to spend your time with your family, lovers, friends (assuming you have any: many people have none of these which most take for granted)
If you belive in life after death, you will not be so keen to make the most of your life since you will think that there is a new adventure to await you: yet you will want to be near others who will miss you and vice versa.
If you dont believe, you will most likely want to blot it out of your mind and just have as much fun as possible to enjoy your latst moments.

I am listening to the CD "The Last Lecture" by Randy Pausch... a man dying from Pancreatic cancer... his legacy to his children... and it truly is a happy and inspiring story of reaching your childhood dreams... because really what else is more important then to actualize those... I cannot imagine the void that he will leave in his families life but at the same time how lucky they are... now wouldn't you like someone to feel that way about you?

A wonderful quote he has is this :

"We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand"....

I would sell my home, quit my job and then REALLY live like every day was my last. But, since I don't know when my number will be up, I think it's a good plan to prepare for retirement.

God put me on this Earth to accomplish a certain number of things. Right now I'm so far behind, I'll never die!

But seriously, you can't live your life based on the premise that you will indeed one day die. The day we're born, we start to die. You must live each day to the fullest, no matter what. My middle daughter (22 years old) enjoyed every day, no matter what happened. She and I had long-term plans because she always wanted me in her life. She said she didn't want a life without me in it, but she was no Mamma's girl. She was the other half of me, and we both wanted the same things in our future.

Her last words every night were, "I love you, Mom." One night she went to sleep, and she didn't wake up. I didn't get to say goodbye. But I have her last words to comfort me. No one can take that away from me.

I'm lost without the other half of me, but I still try to live my life as if she were here. She would want me to be happy and I work on that daily.

It's good to be alive; even it ends up being for just one more minute.

im not saying i agree.. because thats what everybody like to say.. but what ever happens to..
Reach out and touch
Somebody’s hand
Make this world a better place
If you can

Take a little time out of your busy day
To give encouragement
To someone who’s lost the way
(just try)
Or would I be talking to a stone
If I asked you
To share a problem that’s not your own
We can change things if we start giving
Why don’t you?

Reach out and touch
Somebody’s hand
Make this world a better place
If you can

I've witnessed people starving to death in Nicaragua, even as we were trying to help them.

I've wanted to die, when the pain was so bad.

I've been stalked by a man with a gun, and assaulted twice in college.

I've been so afraid of death I wouldn't do anything the least bit eventful.

I've taken risks to face my fears. Flown a plane, whitewater rafting, ski jumping, sailing in a severe thunderstorm, given public speeches on TV, learned to ride a motorcycle, fell off the motorcycle in an accident.

I've slept in a graveyard.

I've spent a year sleeping in the cancer ward of a children's hospital.

I've held my first child in my arms as she died as an infant.

I've counselled people who have lost children.

I've been friends with people who've survived attempting suicide, and people who have died and were revived.

I held my grandmother's hand and sang to her as she died--on the same day of the year my daughter died. She kept seeing a little child in the room with us......peeking out from behind me.

I live life so that I have no regrets. What I have learned is that

--its all good.

Anything between birth and death is a gift and whatever you have to experience on this wild ride is a bonus.

Well...first of all this is a very unfair question unless you've actually been there...and I certainly have. I had a gun pulled in my face and when asked what it was I replied that it was a gun....then he said that's not what I meant...what kind of gun, and in my innocence I said I don't know Rick...I don't know a whole lot about guns. Then he replied...it's a 22 caliber to which I replied...well...that's nice...is it loaded???...and then he said yes...in fact it has a hair trigger, and if you breath the wrong way it goes off...I thought at that point that I might be dead...but he grinned and left....about 2 yrs. later...I went to work for my former boss where I origionally met this person...after about 3 mos. there, my boss informed me that this person was coming back to work with us...that night he blew his wife away from the waist up in the back seat of a cab with a shotgun...was I scared.....let's just say that I thought about the past. You will never understand the feeling of instant death until you are forced to look it in the eye, and I can tell you this........NEVER panic, and always look it in the eye...Never ever take your eyes off of it...Go0d advice???...of course ...I'm alive aren't I.

If I knew that I was going to die(which I do by the way, we ALL do), I would find the coolest bedcover ever and lay it over my comfy mattress. Upon doing this I would call all of my family and friends close and make them feel really guilty for not dying before me. Then I would make them wait on me hand and foot and tell me daily what a wonderful person I was and how much I would be missed.

For those who had wronged me while I was alive I would create a special treatment. I would gather them round me and verbally attack them and remind them that immediately following my death I would start at the top of my list and begin haunting them on a nightly basis..
ahhhh,,, it might just be worth the price!
