| he left her at a gas station Posted: 5/17/2008 1:51:27 PM | This is not an isolated thing. Actually my friends are harassing me about this particular thing, saying that it could have been a trap, a husband and wife team to kill nice guys that help. After all why would an expensive SUV be driving in an unihabited area of Wisconsin.
One of them told me only go out of my way for someone I love, not everyone else. This friend tells me that on a consistant basis and always elaborates if you keep giving and giving, you'll end up empty.

| he left her at a gas station Posted: 5/17/2008 2:37:38 PM | it could have been anything....trap, game, whatever either you have big balls or you're just naive.. you take her in, her bf starts following you..etc etc etc... I live in Baltimore... I would have never done that.... but that's me.... | |

| he left her at a gas station Posted: 5/17/2008 2:48:31 PM | | well what you did was very nice, goes to show you there are nice guys out there. but to that guy who left her at the gas station, he will get his, hes a pig.. | he left her at a gas station Posted: 5/17/2008 3:00:09 PM | "That was a really cool story. I think this is a reminder that there are also angels on earth, and you are one of them. Amazing story. Truly inspirational." "you were a real sweetheart and your mother raised you the right way. I am glad you were there for her and didn't take advantage of her. Thank you for being a gentle man"

| he left her at a gas station Posted: 5/17/2008 3:10:42 PM | Moron is the word that comes to mind....didn't she have thunmbs for hitchhiking ??...didn't the gas station have a pay phone ?? Sounds like a "Whigger" lover to me....if she wants to run with the "thug life" then she should expect to be treated that way ? You say she is 39 ?? and she wanted to go to her mommy & daddys ??... But yet she still acts like a damn 21 year old, I think she has alot more problems than just being "hooker dumped" at some gas station. Me personally....I could have been the guy who rightly said "he wasn't a taxi" You are damn lucky you didn't get robbed or worse yet KILLED..... | |

| he left her at a gas station Posted: 5/17/2008 3:15:03 PM | I'm from near Chicago which is in Illinois. My friend I visited last night lives in Wisconsin. The woman told me that she and her fiance / bf or whatever live in Chicago. Her parents live in Wisconsin, but are originally from... Chicago.
I'm happy to hear all opinions though :-)

Could you be any more judgmental or cold hearted? And don't know if you know this or not, but your comment on this post is now on your profile for every woman to see. Good luck getting a date with those remarks.

| he left her at a gas station Posted: 5/17/2008 3:29:50 PM | Kudos to U Brotha'...for knowing a sitution couldn't get any worse for this young lady. You were her saving grace. Just picture someone returning the favor to you or someone in your family, how grateful you would be to know they are safe and sound.
Great Job! Continue to give...as it will be paid forward.

| he left her at a gas station Posted: 5/17/2008 3:34:22 PM | that was an extremely gracious response......OP...that you offered thanks for continuing to set an example in your response to evil guys

| he left her at a gas station Posted: 5/17/2008 3:42:04 PM | Why didn't she just use the gas station phone to call her parents? Why didn't you use your cell to call her a cab?
What is with all this mushiness? This is not heroic. Superman never got paid. And what were you thinking letting a crazy lady into your car?
She has really poor judgment, not a surprise she got herself into this situation in the first place. And SHE asked YOU for ID? What is she, nuts? And she asks for a friend to confirm that YOU'RE not the whack job? Crazy AND high maintenance. I wanna know what kind of dress this lady was wearing!

| he left her at a gas station Posted: 5/17/2008 4:01:21 PM | Victoria, I couldn't agree with you more. What grown woman needs to get a ride from a total stranger?? Its not like there aren't pay phones anymore (they are not completely gone yet) or perhaps helloooo the clerk at the gas station might have helped her connect with someone to come pick her up. ....and its not like she couldn't have called a cab or something. SHE is damn lucky the OP isn't a freaky creep. The OP is lucky that she isn't some crack or meth head who would've shanked him for his wallet. HERO? i'd reserve that for something more deserving. chilvarous...yes.
Crazy woman and high maintenance....perfectly said. I've never dated anyone who'd leave me or any woman or person like that. She was also 39 not 19...what a life she must have...ugh. I'd say the OP was a nice guy but if she weren't good lookin' or something there is no way he'd had helped her...guarantee it.

| he left her at a gas station Posted: 5/17/2008 4:36:23 PM | She told me all of her numbers were on her cell phone and she didn't know anyone's number by heart. I only know two numbers by heart, 1 is mine and the other is a friend's that I knew in HS before cell phones.
I did ask about other friends that were closer than 45 minutes, but nope, they're all in Chicago, which from where we were was 90 minutes away. She also went on a little rant how her guy chased away most of her friends by being a freak to them.
|
| he left her at a gas station Posted: 5/17/2008 4:40:30 PM | This sounds like total bullshit...
Moron is the word that comes to mind ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ The world be a great place if we were all clones of these two. No?
I am on the road 95% of my life and have helped people even in places like Detroit and St. Louis. One of these days, my luck might run out, but I won't change who I am.
Very nice of you OP. | |
|
| he left her at a gas station Posted: 5/17/2008 4:43:55 PM | *Pets you*
Being left in the middle of nowhere and hoping someone's nice enough to help me is one of my worst nightmares. I'm glad she got to her parents' safely.

| he left her at a gas station Posted: 5/17/2008 5:49:20 PM | This was a nice story with a happy ending, this time. Please use caution when helping strangers.
You didn’t know anything about this woman. She ask for your help, then wants you to prove that you are a good guy. I think the burden of proof is on her.
So, in less than 5 minutes of talking, you determined that She was worthy of a dinner with you at Taco Bell and a ride to her parent’s house.
What was it about her that convinced you of this?
|
| he left her at a gas station Posted: 5/17/2008 5:58:24 PM | | That was a most honorable thing that you did and if you believe in karma it will return to you in the most unlikely of ways. And you are right, money is not everything. I would rather be broke and happy than rich and lonely. A person could use more friends like yourself. | |

Next time OP, if you really must give lifts to strange women, call the local police station and have her give them both your names (ask for ID), your car licence plate, your current location and the location you’re heading for. And don’t forget to watch and listen to her while she does it.

| he left her at a gas station Posted: 5/17/2008 8:13:08 PM | To the man that helped people in St. Louis and Detroit... Beware! Detroit had the highest crime rating for a decade, and now its St. Louis! I've been to St. Louis enough times to leave a McDonnalds and see a man that was in the McDonnalds steal another man's hub caps when he came out.
I fed her Taco Bell yes indeed. It was either that or feed her fish like a seal.
After less than 5 minutes of talking I said I'd help her, cause I am indeed a sucker. Actually no, she was beautiful and I had seen everything that happened.
About helping people and having happy endings, I've even been mugged before by a guy that asked me the time. I whipped out my phone to give him the time, he got nice and close to me, stuck a knife to my ribs. There was a subway camera that captured it all. He got away with $10 and I followed him and heckled him.
After 30 minutes of driving and my hunger, I determined that she was worthy of Taco Bell.
Finally to the last person, I thought about dropping her off at a police station. Then she started crying in my car, so I couldn't boot her out of the car with her crying. At least it wasn't like some of my female friends with their crying. Some of my friends cry so bad its like they're on fire and I'm just trying to put them out!
As for cabs. They aren't abundant in Kennosha County Wisconsin; or they are at bars on a Friday night escourting the too drunk to drive.
Oh well, my bad, I will think of that next time.
