| Have you ever dated someone with psychotic behaviours? Posted: 5/21/2008 1:47:03 AM | Ahh OP, You're confusing the words psychotic and psychic. Gotcha.
Some people say they can communicate with the dead, see the dead, read auras, cleanse chakras, tell the future with a piece of paper...
These people are not (nesessarily) insane. You may disagree with their belief system, but that doesn't make them crazy. Hearing God on the radio is an example of an auditory hallucination a schizophrnenic might have. Your father is here and his name starts with F is not quite the same thing.
Best wishes OP, different strokes for different folks.

?
How is "communicating with the dead" is different than "hearing God on the radio"?

| Have you ever dated someone with psychotic behaviours? Posted: 5/21/2008 11:04:04 AM | The second is set in one's belief system typically but can be an expression of a hallucination also. The difference is, you'll hear a good portion of the population say they believe in after death communication / Mediums. The belief in Spirit Guides, is also a very common New Age belief. To hear someone say this is not really that uncommon in certain circles. Native American beliefs sometimes include animal totems; would you think that was a sign of insanity, or a belief system?
These same people would look at you odd if you suggested God was talking on the radio to you.
Notice I did say "nesessarily" as my qualifier in the statement.

Posted: 5/21/2008 2:00:51 PM | explosive sheep. im not asking you to except what u have not experienced. if u dont believe its real then dont. its as simple as that. The best advice i can give you is do as you said and go find somethign else to read.
aspiring angel. there are alot of crazy people or peole on drugs who sees things. they are hallucinating, but there are also people who are normal and dont do drugs who hear's or sees things. these people are not hallucinating. there are things out there that just absoultely cannot be explained. when more than one perosn sees or hears same thing..hallucinating is ruled out.

| Have you ever dated someone with psychotic behaviours? Posted: 5/22/2008 3:51:37 AM | Kitten, I never said otherwise. I was supporting your right to your belief system and stated that you are not nesessarily insane. Now, if you want to take that in a bad way, be my guest. This is ONE subject I will not debate, plain and simple.
You have every right to believe what you do. Just because I don't agree doesn't make me any more right or wrong, it's MY belief.
I will not show you my truths, please don't show me yours. I could honestly care less if Elvis himself talked to you in the shower each day and I'm willing to place money on me knowing way more on the subject than you.
I moderated a site (still have priviledges in fact) for over ten years, dealing with this specific subject matter. At one time, I was on the opposite side of the fence. Then one day,(actually several days) I saw irrifutible evidence of my ignorance. I was shown what was lacking.
Will I tell you? Nope. None of my concern. Believe as you will, it matters not. But please do not spout your belief system as a truth, and throw it in my face, when in fact it's a personal belief.
Debating this makes about as much sense as me explaining why I'm Catholic. It's a choice...one that's right for me...I dont' go around converting people.
LOL. | |

Seriously... I think the second lady was pulling your leg.
I don't think she was pulling the OP's leg, but I don't think she was psychotic either. I was separated from an ex, and then got back together with her for a VERY short period. While we were apart, she started reading tarot cards. Seems to me like the same line of thinking as this woman who "sees ghosts".

Posted: 5/22/2008 1:15:15 PM | have you noticed that there have been many tv shows dealing with ghosts, mystics, psychics, angels and other drivel in the last few years? some people derive all their ideas and beliefs from tv. maybe she thought this made her interesting?

A) Have you ever dated someone with psychotic behaviours? B) Have you ever seen ghosts and dared to admit it on a first date :P?
A) YES!!! Although not all psychotic behaviours are the same.
B) No...but I will often try to make a guy think I'm a little crazy if I'm not into him...now I have a really good way to convince them!!

| Have you ever dated someone with psychotic behaviours? Posted: 5/22/2008 9:50:52 PM | She's not psychotic, because she believes she has spirit guides. She sounds like a bad match for you though.
Why would you tell a woman on your first date about your ex-girlfriend with schizophrenia? I don't think that was a good first date conversation.

| Have you ever dated someone with psychotic behaviours? Posted: 5/22/2008 10:11:45 PM | | No but I'd evaluate self here. I have a girlfriend who was heart broken to find out that her crush was bi-sexual. Then she met a guy she was engaged to marry. Took off work one day and went to his house and he was in towel expecting not her, but the dude who came in the house right behind her. She's freaked about this rash of gay guys attracted to her. I'd be weirded out if I kept meeting weirdos. | |

| Have you ever dated someone with psychotic behaviours? Posted: 5/22/2008 10:24:31 PM | Is this about psychos or ghosts? I have come across both. Think I would prefer the ghost.
I believe in God the Father Almighty, the Maker of heaven and earth. I also believe in spirits, ghosts, whatever you want to call it. As a nurse, I have been witness too many unexplained activities, to doubt either God, or spirits. They were what they were. No rationale, no "logical" explanation, they just were. Seeing isnt our only gift, some spirits ate felt, or heard. No one will ever make me believe differently. You know when you know.

| Have you ever dated someone with psychotic behaviours? Posted: 5/24/2008 11:03:07 AM | OP,
The first thing I'll tell you is this....Never talk about previous relationships on a first date. Not even the first 5 dates. Let the past be the past, it will help you in the future.
Even if the girl/guy you are with ASKS you, don't fall into that trap.
Now to answer your questions, I think most people have dated someone who has acted a little nuts. Full on crazy is a different story though. I'm kind of curious about this girl. If these "people" she sees who aren't there are her spirit guides why doesn't she communicate with them? How does she know what they are trying to guide her towards.....or away from.....or whatever?
As to your second question, I've seen some odd things in my life, things that I cannot explain. I don't know if that means I've seen "ghosts" but whatever it is, if it comes up in conversation I don't have a problem talking about it......or anything for that matter. That's how you get to know people.

| I've seen it! I'm psycho Posted: 5/25/2008 6:28:17 PM | OK. I have had a couple of experiences with ghosts too. I am not psycho. And I think they were isolated incidents. In other words, they aren't following me around. But I believe they do exist. Especially in older homes or places with a history. What happened to me was inexplicable otherwise. | |

| Have you ever dated someone with psychotic behaviours? Posted: 5/25/2008 7:16:11 PM | CHRISTIANITY: the belief that some cosmic Jewish Zombie can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him that you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.
Makes perfect sense.
and on that note... isn't the bible filled with inexplicable things?? .. burning, talking bushes...(sounds like a bad acid trip), possessions by evil entities ( hmm naughty ghosts??) Parting of the sea(awesome CGI) .....
I guess my rambling irreverent point is that there is a lot of unexplained/unexplainable happenings on our planet... science can't explain it... religion can't explain it... best thing to do is find your own answers.. and not rely on 'learned' knowledge that is spoon fed to you from birth.....
and I do actually have one question... did you actually ask this girl if she was serious? (and yes there are ways of asking questions without offending someone)... or did you just go ummm and run for it??

| Have you ever dated someone with psychotic behaviours? Posted: 5/26/2008 11:09:36 AM | My ex was bi-polar, (lots of other issues as well). Bi-polar is a chemical imbalance in the brain...no mood control...labels on people tend to hurt, it keeps people from getting the help they deserve. Diabetics is a chemical imbalance in the kidneys...life isnt fair at times. One condition people will support you and the other people will run from you. You cant take a blood test or any other test to determine a mental issue, it takes a person being honest with their doctor (most wont be) and a history of actions that betray their underlining mental state.
The problem is that someone who is mentally ill has normal states...they arent always depressed or manic...if you met them then you have no idea unless they start revealing their past to you...which again takes time. My ex had tried to kill himself twice before I met him, said he didnt know why ....later on he told me the truth about things. His attempted suicide is now up to four. Most try to self medicate, drinking or using drugs.
One of my daughters friend was diagnosed with bipolar and my daughter said "she isnt bipolar" my step father was ...you could see the crazy in his eyes at times". Tis true...you could see the crazies in his eyes at times.... was very scary to not know who was living with you...or to not know what all they would be capable of.
Mentally ill have a hard road, dont throw labels on someone just to throw a label out there...and if you assume well yanno you just made an a$$ out of yourself.
