I enjoy reading books, i love self help and psychology books.......

I am currently reading John Bradshaws book Homecoming, working with your Inner Child...I find it so interesting and its really hitting lightbulbs for me....

What books have you read that youve learned from and its changed your trail of thoughts...and how they have changed you

Be it a full on book or a light hearted novel.......

The Celestine Prophecy was a good piece of fiction, although you could apply the Insights to your own life... That's by James Redfield... And also The Alchemist by Paul Coelho, about realising one's dream... That John Bradshaw's book sounds interesting though...

Both The Age Of Reason and The Rights Of Man by Thomas Paine had an influence on the way I considered various subjects.

schindler's list as the book really told more of the horrors suffered by the jews in the camps made me realise just much the human spirit can be both strong and twisted

The life-changer for me was Eckhart Tolle's book, "The power of now"

It made me "go for it" in my life and career. Made me realise my dreams are my dreams and only "I" could make them happen, and if i didn't, i had no right to complain, when i didnt get what i wanted.
It also teaches that we're only responsible for ourselves, our own emotional wellbeing, and how we perceive things, i.e. you can't blame someone for hurting you, you allow yourself to feel hurt, it isn't any good saying "you said or did this and now i feel crap" because no-one has that power over you.
I guess i could have stayed in victim mode (as so many people do) but i decided that i was me, i was going to get over what happened to me, and make myself sucessful.
and....... i have!

His Philosophy is;
The past is gone and cannot be changed ; The future is an illusion, yet to manfest ; There IS only now!

We all have the one book that changes our destiny. A book that profoundly opens one's eyes to the universe, and can provide that "epiphany" moment.

Mine was "Fun with Spot" by Eric Hill.

Loads! but one that has just sprung to mind is The Shelters of Stone by Jean M Auel
It's about a girl in the stone age who's parent's were killed by an earthquake when she was about 5 years old and how she survived life.

She got taken in by another type of human beings then banished later having to leave her child.

It gets a bit steamy in the later books so I learn't some there when I was young too! lol.

Loads too. Don't know whether they changed me but they definitely made me think about how I think (a bit like the forum now I come to think about it). Two books came to mind quite quickly. Candide by Voltaire and Long Walk To Freedom by Nelson Mandela

The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins- a must read for anyone.

The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield-lots of hype but still very relevant insights.

When Prophecy Fails- by Leon Festinger, Henry Riecken, and Stanley Schachter about UFO cult that beleived when the world was going to end, a big flying saucer would come and rescue them. When this propehcy failed, the books looks at how they changed their belief system. Sounds bizarre but its incrediable book.

Folk Devils and Moral Panics by Stanley Cohern. -Given my way, everyone posting on a forum should be forced to read this before gaining entry onto the forum Once read you never see things the media say int he same light ever again.

The one that changed me, my career choice and therefore my life, was a book I picked up 5 years ago in a charity shop.
Superbugs-and other rogue diseases of the 21st century. by Pete Moore Bsc PhD.
I read it and was instantly hooked

I can't say I've ever read a book that "changed" me, but Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels made me rediscover my love of reading 13 years ago.

Not life changing but I am quite interested in books on body language...I've read some very good books in the past on it...very interesting...and I'm a people watcher too.

You can learn an awful lot about someone by seeing how they behave and interact.

hey thanks for yer posts.

The power of now really appeals to me....

Have any of the girls read - hes just not that into you? I thought it was a great one. Instead of taking all the lame excuses in the world, get the message that if he really liked you, he wouldnt let you down. Its worked for me, i dont take any shit anymore

The other book that i read for the fun of it was Surrendered Single. Its funny and gives you homework on flirting etc...got a lot of laughs with the girls out of this one.....it does work

Its all about awareness anyway
