What has money got to do with wether you like some one or not?

| Ignorance and judgement
Posted: 5/21/2008 2:01:52 PM | The poor tend to feel inadequate, therefore they resent people who they view as being more successful than themselves. Some people who are proud of their accomplishments look at those who THEY feel are capable of more, as being lazy. People are quick to pass judgment because they feel the need to do so. Focusing on the inadequacies of others keeps their minds so busy that they have very little time to self reflect and make personal improvements. On some level, it is an ego trip for all the parties involved because knocking others down in order to elevate themselves gives them a temporary feeling of superiority.
It's really quite unfortunate because those who pass judgment on the less fortunate don't even know the circumstances which lead to their situation. | |

I may have nothing in my bank but I have plenty of self respect and no amount of money that someone else has will make me feel inferior to them... Posted: 5/21/2008 6:05:08 PM | ...it all began with the french revolution...or maybe before that, bad enough that Maria Antoinette told her starving countrymen that they could always eat cake if bread wasn't available but what about those lords of the manor who insisted upon deflowering the local wenches on their wedding nights before their actual grooms had the pleasure...it's all about power trips.
The varying strata of social classes possess their decent/sound folk but amongst them are the type who just want to impose themselves on others and be a botheration instead of just getting on with it and having empathy for each other regardless. | |

I equally hate the people who believe that because they are "poor" they are treated badly by everyone. I encountered a lot of them in Watford, Hemel Hempstead, Milton Keynes and a few other places in the shops I worked at. They get treated badly because they have an attitude from the moment they start talking, not cos of the cash they have/don't have. | |

Gwyneth Dunwoody, old style labour, genuine honest and dedicated MP (no matter what colour your politics) dies and her daughter, unemployed single mother of five, stands for parliament in her seat. The one with the nice safe 7000 majority. A nice low key campaign respectful to her memory- should be a done deal.
Except some dough brain decided the best idea was to dress two Labour activists in Eton school uniform, follow the Tory round, calling him a "clueless toff." Talk about the politics of envy!
It sort of back fired big time! Yes, Edward Timpson does come from a wealthy family (Timpsons shoe repairs and key cutting chain)...a family who, despite, or maybe because of their wealth, took in and fostered more than 80 children. That is poor children, abused children, suffering children. I am guessing you would not be completely clueless as to what the lives of the poorest and most vulnerable in society are like. He studied law, and became a family lawyer to work with broken families. That is not a lucrative area, rich lawyers work in corporate law!
I suspect this campaign of envy and spite will back fire spectacularly, and sadly sully the memory of a good, honest dedicated MP. One who spent her career fighting injustice and inequality. I doubt she would be proud of her daughter's campaign. | |

The rich quite often seem to like the poor!

The give away is The Rich have either exploited or utilized The Poor to become wealthy
But often, rich people are characters who are quite driven, who set up companies which employ people who are NOT particularly driven. If they didn't have the drive and enthusiasm to start these companies, what would those less driven be doing for employment hmmm? | |

Newcastle University's Bruce Charlton said fewer working class students at elite universities was the "natural outcome" of class IQ differences.
The reader in evolutionary psychiatry questioned drives to get more poorer students into top universities.
The government has criticised Dr Charlton's comments.
These arguments have a definite tone of 'people should know their place'
Higher Education Minister Bill Rammell
Dr Charlton said: "The UK Government has spent a great deal of time and effort in asserting that universities, especially Oxford and Cambridge, are unfairly excluding people from low social-class backgrounds and privileging those from higher social classes.
"Yet in all this debate a simple and vital fact has been missed: higher social classes have a significantly higher average IQ than lower social classes." | |

I partly agree with those comments however, how do you explain Richard Branson and other highly successfull business men and women who started off from relatively poor back grounds with absolutely nothing.I think Sir Richard was always sciving off school and left with no qualifications what so ever.In yet he is just so successfull. | |

Posted: 5/22/2008 9:07:01 AM | I am not sure that Branson was raised in poverty, and indeed there are always going to be exceptions.
However, it is logical that women from higher status backgrounds, invariably have a better diet while pregnant, are less likely to smoke or drink excessive alcohol. Therefore fewer of their babies are born with such problems as Foetal Alcohol Syndrome...and the effects it has on a developing brain.
They are also more likely to value education, "hothouse" their children, introduce them to a broad range of hobbies, music for example. They are more likely to have books at home...it is hardly rocket science. Yet another survey from the University of the Bleeding Obvious. | |
