| What do you deem as a slut/slag/scrubber etc
Posted: 5/22/2008 12:31:56 PM | Depending on what area we're from as to what derogatory term is used for someone with questionable morals in the way of ... erm... romance?  ...
But what actions/behaviour would cause you to deem someone to qualify for such a label (for a man or woman - because I do call men sluts if I think it's apt!!!)
I'm asking because on another forum a guy is calling a woman a slut because she had an affair with someone in a relationship. Now I'm not going to piously profess that I don't judge people - we all do to a certain extent ... but I wouldn't automatically call her a slut. I'd turn my nose up, sure, but she might have been a virgin before she slept with this guy for all I know... so she'd be hardly a slut in my view?

Someone whos attachments are fleeting, dismissive, frequent and indiscriminate.
I do think there is a scale...the more frequent and thoughtless, the bigger the slut/slag etc!

In a woman's case I suppose the same word could be used for someone who seeks to have sex with men simply to get pregnant without their knowledge.

Personally I'd say a "slut" (I hate that word) is someone who deliberately seeks to have sex with as many people as possible simply for the sake of enjoying sex.

 ... I'm so glad I've only been called a slut then - & definately not a scrubber  pmsl ...
So, if you get jiggy with someone elses significant other - are you a slut/slag/scrubber/whore etc etc ...

Many years ago I was talking to my now ex mother in law about the way I clean the house and that I go a bit over board sometimes. In said conversation I referred to myself as a scrubber. I had no idea that the word was referring to a "lose" woman. (she did take me aside and told me lol)
My personal view on the subject is, that it is other peoples morals and views that will get you labled that way. Their narrow mindedness and sexual opression are rife. Get a life and stop judging. As long as you make sure you dont put your partner in any danger (you know what I am talking about) it is all good. Have fun.  | |

Mostly I think those words are used in a joking context amongst friends actually. But if they are being used with a serious intent to be derogatory then I notice it's usually reserved for a very special category of people we don't like...being those who have rained on our own 'sex and dating' parade in some way. Women referring to a woman that their current partner just eyed off appreciatively, or the woman their former partner is now dating. Men referring to a woman who said no to their request for a dance, a date, or a shag. | |

Slag on the other hand, think of the metal refining process, after you have got your pure metal from the furnace, you are left with slag , which is of no use, I would say, in my humble opinion, It means useless. not good for any thing, well it might have one or two uses.

She has come home heartbroken because of the name calling and has been called all of the above as well as Ho and prostitute. Feel I must add here that she hasnt so much as kissed a lad yet.
When I had finished consoling her I had to smile to myself as I hadn't really heard them since school and it took me back wayyyyyyyyyyyy back 
In my book all of the name calling is seated in nasty spiteful minds, IF a woman is really doing something you wouldnt do who gave you the right to label them.
If they are not hurting anyone, wear clothes we havent got the bottle to wear, pulled the guy you had your eye on or are basically having a good time why should they be given any name at all. Oh and guys if you get knocked back because she doesnt actually fancy you it makes her selective not a slag/slut/scrubber

IMHO those terms, in that circumstance, are reserved for the one in the relationship who is dipping their wick elsewhere. Unless of course the other (wo)man is a friend or someone you know....
I would jokingly call a mate a "tart" if for example she was looking forward to a hot date and bought some sexy lingerie to entice him with. Purely teasing and affectionate- my friends would not be offended.
I think you can be a slut in the bedroom- in a close 1-1 relationship, it's all good.
A slag, someone who sleeps around with little thought of who or why....the sort that has a turnstyle on the bedroom door.
A scrubber....Not a term I use either but I was talking to a (male) mate who had been chatting to a woman from this site. She told him she had slept with 5 guys in 2 weeks.
That to me is just a bit.....much.
Having said that, it is her life and health, nothing to do with me, so why would I worry or comment on her behaviour. | |

male slag....loverat... cad etc etc none of which are really stand alone terms as slag slut and scrubber are.

I agree, just checked out the urban dictionary and even when a male is deemed a slut it still shows the woman involved in a derogatory light ............

We used to see slags or sluts as people who put it about a bit and scrubbers were just not very clean girls.
I think now adults have the right to make thier own mind up as to what they do,we might not like or agree with it but it doesnt make them a bad person,and aslong as they arnt effecting me i dont really care. | |
