| Do you have a joyful story you could share? Posted: 5/22/2008 1:19:32 PM | | I'm feeling on the low side today having been diagnosed with cancer this morning. The prognosis is actually pretty good but I was wondering if people could help improve my mood by writing about great or wonderful things that have recently occurred in their lives. I'm a very empathetic person and I know that your joyful stories will be sure to put a smile on my face. And please no sympathy messages; just fun upbeat stuff. Tx so much. | |

I watched a beautiful/romantic documentry last night on CBC ...can't remember what it was called but it was about the species and our sexes. Poor beetle desperately seeking some lovin' only to beat eat by the frog.

I was hugely impressed and proud of her.

I tripped over a blind man last week. I thought it a bit funny, but I don't think he did.
Hmmm...I once stole from a homeless man to add to the irony.
I was young and stupid. | |

| Do you have a joyful story you could share? Posted: 5/22/2008 2:24:13 PM | The most joyful story I can think of right now is: The sun came up this morning & it is beautiful. The world is green with Life & that is beautiful too. I went outside & planted some more flowers and garlic. When they grow up, they will bloom & that will be very beautiful as well.
I have lived through a lot of challenging things & from each I have learned much. I don't focus on the challenge so much anymore as I do the reason for it. In my life, the reason for the challenges is the learning opportunity. Seize this opportunity that has been presented to you, to learn what it has to offer. There are likely to be a myriad of things to learn from such an opportunity as you are being offered. Make the most of it. Learn all you can & keep your eyes peeled for the subtle lessons as well as the very obvious ones.
I keep a mental version of an "add a pearl" necklace in my heart. Every time I learn something from one of the many learning opportunities that presents itself in Life, I add another little pearl of wisdom to my necklace. Here's a chain for you to start your own. 0...............................................................................................................................0'

This week his doctor gave him the okay to surf again! He is back in the water, showing off and talking smack. Sure is good to have him back.

The day was a long one but BorneoBabes "tripping over a blind man" story made for a great visual and I spent much time trying to figure out why that made me smile and chuckle. I will also try the string of pearls visualization as I'm certain I'll be learning a lot the next while. I'll be sure to continue checking back for more joyful stories; they are greatly appreciated.

| Do you have a joyful story you could share? Posted: 5/22/2008 9:40:03 PM | | Let me see. Joyful huh? I gave blood last night, and was happy that I could do something for someone else even if they were faceless to me. My son called me from school yesterday and told me that he was skipping football practice because he had so much homework and studying for finals to do. Yes, he remembered our talks about being a scholar athlete, and the scholar came first. I went to choir practice last night and with my group of choirmates we practiced our songs of praise to God. I realize these are simple things, but I think I get the most joy out of the everyday. I know you don't want sympathy, but may I say I think you are a brave lady, and I will keep you in my prayers. | |

She told me that the doctor put her on fluid pills, "but oh my, they are making me so very tired all the time". I was a bit concerned, thinking maybe she was taking double of some other medicine or getting confused in some other way concerning the doses of her various medicines. I told her that maybe a doctor should check out her medicine combinations because a fluid pill shouldn't be making her feel tired. Very seriously she replied, "yes it does make me tired... because I have to keep getting up and going to the bathroom now".

Posted: 5/23/2008 2:28:26 PM | I awoke this morning, to find my recently-detailed car, covered in dust, leaves and spindles from a nearby bottle-brush tree.....I was a little ann0yed, since it took me a couple of hours to detail it the other day, along with a fair amount of elbow grease...lol
So ffd several hours later, upon leaving the gym, I get into my car and there's this wild, crazy rainstorm, with heavy winds, as I drive to do my errands...... its like driving though a car wash!!! Its late May, its not supposed to rain in SO Cal like this....but it is and its cleaning my car...m lovin it! What a sweet, unexpected gift!!!
The neatest thing was when the sunshine was streaming through a break in the cloud cover and the most BRILLIANT RAINBOW shone down upon Riviera Village. lots of people in the parking lot outside of Trader Joe's were looking up from their cars, pointing to it....I considered myself lucky to have witnessed it....
Beauty is everywhere....I try to stay on the lookout for it and relish in it each day.....
SEEKUNEEK, thank you SO much for this thread!!!....I think we need more JOYFUL /GRATEFUL threads on these forums...most can be rather negative.
Peace and Blessings to you!!!!

It means a great deal to me right now. I don't think I have a brave bone in my body though. My 20 year old son on the other hand is being very brave. He must be worried but you'd never know it. He spent a lot of time with me today making me laugh. I'm feeling truly blessed.

| Do you have a joyful story you could share? Posted: 5/27/2008 2:15:52 AM | | My cat used to climb up the side of our house and hang at my bedroom window meowing at the top of his lungs to come inside. It was 2 stories up and quite hilarious to see. One night my dog ( half lab and shephard ) was staring at him from below. The cat lost his grip and fell, landing on the dogs back. The cat hissed and ran in one direction and the dog ran yelping the other way. I wish that I had a video camera as it was one of the funniest things I ever saw. | |

| Do you have a joyful story you could share? Posted: 5/27/2008 9:49:40 PM | This is from a blog of mine from a few weeks ago. I think I may finally (maybe/almost)be seeing the humor in it.
I telework from home on Tuesdays and Fridays. I told my boss I was going to change my day from Tuesday to Thursday last week so I could get my car fixed on Thursday. Really though I ended up flying to LA right after work Wed night. I planned to telework out there (6 am-2pm their time is my regular 9-5 here). I ended up teleworking just fine on Thurs and Fri. I may have been a wreck and working on 3 hours sleep but I worked on my laptop from out there perfectly.
Saturday evening I flew back from LA on the red eye. Departed at 9:40 pm arrived in ATL at 4:30 am. Had to kill time til my flight at 9:30 am. I ended up getting coffee and found a tv with cnn. Watched that for a few hours then at 7 am I see the one and only person in the world I do not want to see....my boss. I was totally flustered because she thought I was still in DC. I was in shock and I am a horrible liar. I said I went home Friday night then was supposed to fly back last night to BWI but I got rerouted to DCA. It didn't even make sense to me but I was flustered. Turns out she was flying back from Hawaii. Out of all of the terminals and airports and flights in the US how the he-l did my boss end up at ATL terminal c at 7:15 am just like me? I could not have been more pissed off at the world than I was at that moment. First I get in to an accident then I run in to my boss? Could my luck be any worse?

| Do you have a joyful story you could share? Posted: 5/28/2008 10:36:15 PM | I have a funny story, truely this just happened and it made me laugh and it was at my expense. LOL
I'm getting ready to head out for the night, jump out the shower all clean and smelling nice with my colgne, etc. I brushed my teeth and rinsed with some Listerene.
Just as I'm about to leave, I figure WTH I'll spray my mouth with somo of that Binaca sitting on the counter -- I wasn't even aware I had binaca but seeing as it was with all my other toiletries (tooth brush, listerene, floss, etc) it made sense.
I sparyed my mouth 2-3 times and swallowed only to discover a horrible taste, almost posionous. I gagged and almost puked, spit and rinsed my mouth out like a maniac.
When I looked at the little binanca can to see if it had expired or something I discovered that it was actually a little spray bottle of Glade air freshener. I guess on of those little test cans you get in the mail, I just don't recall putting it there.
Moral of the story: Always read the f*ckin label before putting any of it's contents in your mouth, eyes, etc.
It sounded funnier in my head.
