| Booming car stereo systems... Posted: 5/22/2008 3:09:35 PM | I don't get it.
What's the pleasure in having your ear drums bounced out of your head, not to mention anyone elses' within a half-mile radius?
I find it such an invasion of my own space when someone pulls up beside me with sub woofers blasting and my own rib cage is vibrating! Is it just an attention thing? To me it is no better than someone sticking their a$$ in my window and letting a huge, stinking fart rip!
If any part of me is vibrating, I would prefer it to be from something a little more pleasurable than listening to the bass line of an indiscernible song coming from someone else's vehicle.

| Booming car stereo systems... Posted: 5/22/2008 3:16:23 PM | i hear that!!! blame it on mtv and the multitude of wanna-be gangsters ,living in the suburbs, never seen a gun or a ghetto, and all the cute little white girls who think that its soooo attractive!!! LOL!!!! | |

| Booming car stereo systems... Posted: 5/22/2008 3:21:38 PM | I used to have a kicka** stereo in my freightliner. Yeah, you heard that right. In my semi truck. If people got annoyed at the loud exhaust, then they really got po'd when I cranked up the radio. I made it that way for myself. Out on the road, it makes the miles go by better. In town...well, it was just fun. | |

| Booming car stereo systems... Posted: 5/22/2008 3:24:05 PM | | Mostly bragging rights. I mean, there are sound off competions for lowest bass, but other than that, I don't see the point. It amazes me how some of these teens haven't had complete hearing failure. Example, not being of bass, but just volume period. I'm in the next room and I can hear my nephews "Ear Buds" in the next room. | |

| Booming car stereo systems... Posted: 5/22/2008 3:26:25 PM | | Okay, not just teens, heh. Previous poster reminded of my friend who's in his 30's who has his setup so cranked that you can at times have trouble seeing due to the vibrations. | |

| Booming car stereo systems... Posted: 5/22/2008 3:33:45 PM | If they're going to play it loud, they could at least play something GOOD.... but they never do. It's always some 'orrible Chav music. Dance, RnB, little kiddie rave or Gansta Rap. Ugh.
I know someone who, when faced with a bunch of chavs & their chav music, when stopped at the lights, "music" blasting out, window open, thinking they were cool... he put his head inside the car, looked the little oiks inside & shouted at them "More tea vicar!!" hahah

| Booming car stereo systems... Posted: 5/22/2008 4:24:59 PM | Guys in cars with their doof doof music is the one thing that annoys the hell out of me! Same goes with cars that have been done up so badly that they look like space ships. 1. Its not cool 2. Most women don't find it a turn on or attractive at all 3. Guys that do this THINK they're cool 4. If you're going to do it at least play good music!!!!
Personally, yes i like the music up loud in my car, however not loud enough that everyone else can hear what im playing and singing to! I really want to drive through the city, put spice girls on or vengaboys or something and crank it up as loud as it goes...i wonder how many looks i'd get?

| Booming car stereo systems... Posted: 5/22/2008 5:03:07 PM | This is a very good point.
I only thought my country (the UK) was afflicted by this!
It's an attention seeking thing, notice how they always have their windows wound down in order to give the maximum possible audience the benefit of their (usually) rubbish choice of music? These "boy racers" equate the volume of their stereos (in their often tiny clapped out old cars) with their masculinity. What is surprising is the number of young women who seem to concur with them.
If I'm walking along as one passes me, I sometimes "bang" my head in rhythm to the "music", since they've ensured I have no problem hearing it. Oddly enough, some then seem offended! Surely if they wanted me to hear their "music", they should have no problem if I then show my "enjoyment" of it!

| Booming car stereo systems... Posted: 5/22/2008 5:19:47 PM | | I had my windows up and my radio off. Some clown pulled up next to me with his ghetto blaster radio cranking so loudly, the dashboard in my car was actually buzzing ! I for one absolutely need my hearing. I guess he didn't. I even wear earplugs all day where i work. Not because i am required too, but because i want to hear when i am in my 60's. | |

| Booming car stereo systems... Posted: 5/22/2008 6:19:43 PM | Oh come on! Don't be so hard on the little punks!
It's just their Big Egos Screaming, Look at me, Look at me! Or maybe they have tiny little pathetic peckers hidden somewhere inside those retarded oversized pants! lol
Just smile and say Nice!

| Booming car stereo systems... Posted: 5/22/2008 6:27:22 PM | | I play my music loud on the freeway. But I don't have an amp or some homie stereo in my car. I always turn down my music at intersections and on residential streets. It's simple common courtesy. That being said, I live in a mecca for homie bass blaring cars. They're everywhere. They have no concept of common courtesy. Personally, I would love to create a missle that is guided to its target by boomin' bass. | |

| Booming car stereo systems... Posted: 5/22/2008 6:37:56 PM | Its called stupidity.
Some idiot decided it was "cool" to be able to rattle windows for 3 blocks.
What they don't consider is that they are destroying thier hearing.
Many cities and counties are passing laws to deal with the noise pollution. Around here there is a $2000 fine for having your car (or any other) stereo register above a certain dB level at the property line (which if its your car would be at the car window.)
The police have to have someone else make a complaint then they take out the dB meter and... write the ticket.

| Booming car stereo systems... Posted: 5/22/2008 7:10:50 PM | I must say how happy I am that I'm not the only one who is bothered by this.
Now, I will totally admit to having my tunes cranked when I'm flying down the highway, but when I'm in town, I don't like to force my taste in music on anyone, even if my tastes are impeccable!
Blueeyedbaldman..... I love Van Halen.... and I'd be along with the tunes.... it's the music where you have no friggin' idea what the hell it is they're saying.... omg.... I sound old!!!

if you dont like it , drive around....... or move around
So I'm supposed to move my kids out of my apartment because the 20 yr old moron that lives out behind me blares his stereo in his car...my windows vibrate when he pulls in the driveway. Or I should run a red light to avoid your loud stereo?
Drive around..or move around...have some common courtesy.

| Booming car stereo systems... Posted: 5/22/2008 7:37:34 PM | i don't want to bash the age bracket that is bashing this trend ... but didn't u folks believe in drinking n driving was super cool in a muscle car where u may hide ur selected poison underneath the dashboard???
musically everyone is different... n half the "ghetto" songs now r from ur old aged balads ... which kids in the modern era think its new .... meanwhile half the song r just as old as u ppl n u can't stand them ....
n yes rock is great to blast .... but its not the 80s n e more ... if u ppl haven't checked it out.... no one can afford to drive Camaro's, Trans am's, Firebird's, Mustang's, charger's etc.... due to the gas prices.
ur perents delt with the stupidity of the youth ... y shouldn't u ppl put up with it n STOP COMPLAINING! SUCK IT UP, UR ADULTS NOT CHILDREN!
n 4 u that get offended that i'm not respecting elders .... if the topic wasn't brought up 4 the attention of many... nothing would have happened. n another thing... i saw nothing but ppl bashing it... 4 the ones that elect to keep their hearing....

| Booming car stereo systems... Posted: 5/22/2008 7:40:20 PM | Dear Libra,
And just to think, you only have to listen to it for a few minutes....I love blasting my music and if ya don't like it too bad...Invasion of "your" own space if somebody "pulls" up???Uhmmmm, since when did "you" own any space of the highway or street? I wouldn't mind somebody sticking their azz out the window..I wouldn't smell anything...LOL...The air would "suck" it up....Stop whinning.......If ya don't like the sound, get off the road....
P.S.-->>I love to sing and I've even had some Opera music blaring out my stereo and I'm singing away to it......ohhhhweee..I love my MUSIC

| Booming car stereo systems... Posted: 5/22/2008 8:08:32 PM | Wannaluvjustu......
I don't claim to "own" any space on the highway or street, but why is it that I should be forced to stop all conversation in MY vehicle because the person next to me has to have their music up so loud that I can't hear myself think, let alone talk?
I wasn't talking about someone sticking their a$$ out their window.... ..... I said it was just as bad as someone sticking THEIR a$$ IN my window.... noise pollution... that is all it is and it is very uncourteous to those around you. I suppose it would be all right if someone decided to pick their nose and flick it at you through their open window.... if you don't like the boogers, get off the road.....
I'm glad you like YOUR music..... just as I like mine.... I just don't think it's necessary to force those around me to listen to my music..... just my humble opinion, just as you have yours.... notice I didn't ask you to stop whining because it's all about personal preferences. To each their own.... just please don't force your *own* on me.
