| How Happy Are You ?
Posted: 5/23/2008 9:57:56 AM | Film maker Mike Leigh (a God!) has released his latest film recently, called Happy-Go-Lucky it tells the story of a primary school teacher whose infectious nature touches all those around her. Apparently Mike made it as an anti-miserabilist film; he believes that despite serious problems people need to be more positive and need to focus less on the negatives in life.
Do you agree with him, is life really so bad these days or is it partly an invention of the papers who like to dwell on the bad and less on the good. Are you yourself happy, do you feel that your life is pretty good or do you think people have a right to be depressed and negative about life or do they just need a kick up the you know what ! | |

I dont think life is any more depressing now or people any more miserable.Life is what we make of it,it cant always be a bed of roses and people cant be expected to be constantly upbeat whilst they are suffering in one way or another.
I am a usually happy person, well 3weeks out of 4 anyway | |

Are you yourself happy
I am a very happy person! I wasnt always, i was miserable for years, the reasons i wont get into, but since i split with my ex, which was over 2 years ago, i have never been happier! But i have made my own happiness, something we all have a choice in doing, we all make our our own lives what it is, and if you want to be a miserable old git, then thats a choice you have made and nothing anyone does can make you otherwise!
do you feel that your life is pretty good or do you think people have a right to be depressed and negative about life or do they just need a kick up the you know what !
I absolutely love my life as it is right now! I dont want to sound like a bragging so and so, but life has finally been good to me! My children are happy, i love my job, i have no debt, i have the best friends in the world and I really do look forward to everyday!
I feel that the miserable gits that i do know, actually like when bad things happen to them, they love the drama of being victims of life, so i dont give them the time of day, as i said in my profile, I thrive around positive people!!

Posted: 5/23/2008 11:30:33 AM | well Ive got a few years under my belt now and I can say that life has gradually become more pressured, just look at kids in school and the hoops the poor buggers have to jump through, then they leave school and to what? massive debt before you even get a job or your own home.
Id be able to be more positive if I had a film directors salary | |

Because i spent 14 years with a guy who was an abusive drunk, who was also bi-polar and who had a great knack of destroying my self esteem.
I was living miles away from my family and friends, with no car, and 4 small children to look after while he was working days, and then spent his nights in the pub!
It was only when he tried to throw me out of our bedroom window one night in front of my then 3 year old daughter , that I made the decision there and then to get him out of our lives and to get my life together!
I got the guards to arrest him, packed all our bags and moved to my mam's house!
Was i wrong to stay in that relationship for so long, yes i was, it affected my children in ways i can never forgive myself for. But I got us out of there, I made the decision to do that, and i have put things right!
I could've become a victim and sat and drank the face of myself in self pity, but i didnt, i made us happy, so therefore i had a choice, and i made the right one.

My philsophy is simple; there is no point worrying about owt, either do summat about it or get on with your life, worrying won't change owt, just depress ya.
But if we lose tomorrow I'll be unhappy for 5 minutes but then it's beer time.

Tend to see the cup as being half full ;)
Although im not one of those incessantly constantly happy preachy hummy singy types that get right on ur tits, I know one of those who goes to my uni and I swear to god nowt seems to get her down! You can almost see her bright white pure aura swimming around as she skips along, singing to birds and talking to the wildlife.... Sometimes I feel like tripping her up or giving her a wedgie just to see if she can in fact experience annoyance or sadness!!!  | |

Posted: 5/23/2008 5:30:11 PM | We all have good and bad times in our lives. Some worse than others. And its all relative as what could seem like a bad time to one, would just be mildly annoying to another.
All the stories about life seeming bad and the media could be used as a way of keeping the great masses under control. Make everyong think its all crap so we all feel down trodden and don't cause any bother, or try to change anything.
Its a fine line though, as if they go too far people say "Enough is enough" and things rallies, marches, or even riots occur.
As for me, I try and stay happy. I've found the best way is to just avoid getting involved in other peoples problems and just deal with my own. | |

I refuse to surround myself by miserable , depressing , grumpy buggers who wallow in self pity and expect me to be there all the time to listen to their incessant moaning. Happy for sure. Negativity will get you no where. A positive attitude can make all the difference in just about any situation.
My work colleagues are used to this and if it happens, that I am not in a good mood, (once a year lol) they get quite worried. It totally throughs them.  | |

I've always believed in things happen for a reason & be careful what you wish for as it just might happen!
Life is fabulous, we get one so I've never understood people who waste it focusing on bad things. The world is a beautiful place, I've lived with money, without money, with family & friends, without them. To me there's always ways around something & nothing is ever as bad as seems.
I laugh all the time, I can't help it, I love making people happy & seeing someone smile, gives you that warm feeling. I guess I'm one of those annoyingly happy people that just bumbles through life! | |

Posted: 5/24/2008 1:51:29 AM | I think happiness is determined by how self-obsessed we are. If we live in our own little bubble, where only our own problems and life affect us, then we become all-consumed by it and every trivial matter is a drama.
However if you lose the bubble and realise just how good life actually is... then your whole state of mind is changed.
I cannot speak for others, only myself, but I am a positive, bubbly person. I like making people laugh and its rare Im down for long. That for me comes from having some pretty awful things happen in my life. Now, I can cope with whatever life throws at me.
When you have hit utter rock bottom...then really the only other way to go is up.  | |

Posted: 5/24/2008 2:35:04 AM | The film you mentioned Honeybee [what a lovely name] " Happy-Go-Lucky" is an absolute "must see " film. It leaves you feeling happy with a warm glow. The girl who starred in it was great and you couldn't help but fall in love with her. In the film she's learning to drive and her instructor has serious issues with anger. Those scenes are brilliant in that they throw two people who are absolutely extreme to eachother into this small confined space, its fascinating.
Ive got a friend quite similar and she's like medicine, a breath of fresh air and loved by everyone. She's so positive and not in the least bit annoying. If I could, I would carry her around in my pocket and get her out whenever I felt a bit down.Everybody has bad days but I always try to keep things in perspective and look at the bigger picture.
All of us living in this country are very fortunate and its easy to forget that sometimes. When alls said and done I have a roof over my head , food in my belly, clothes on my back. I'm in great health and my children are healthy and want for nothing. Ive got no right to be whining about my lot. A visit to a children's hospital where there are kids dying and extremely poorly with illnesses such as Leukaemia would throw everything into sharp perspective. You need only to switch your TV on and watch the news to see all the war and suffering there is going on in the world to remind you to thank your lucky stars. The world is a lot less scary a place when you embrace it with a smile and positive outlook.

I also liked confession`s of a school girl which his not a to be laughed at its a true story where a girl was pushed into sex yes it took place in Austria not far ftrom where the girl was imprisoned by her father. i AM WONDERING WHATAND I STILL CANT GET A WOMAN BEST GET BK TO OR I TAKE UP AGAIN | |
