Are woman out there willing to look past a mans flawed teeth if he has good qualities, personality, and is attractive....We know the first thing a girl notice's is a man's smile, and whether she will kiss him depends on his smile...

TEETH? OMG, I could tell you stories about them. Teeth are the biggest turn on if nice, or turn off if bad.

Men worry about being bald. I would take a bald good guy any day, but the teeth? If they are badly stained or he has not seen a dentist in 20 years, no way. Your teeth are a big factor in your general health. You are not taking care of your body if you ignore the mouth.

And to get romantic with that mouth? Sorry. Not happening.

I am afraid the general consensus here is that it is a problem to many women on POF. IRL, not so much in my
experience, but it depends on who, & where you meet people. But I have noticed that women here (in the
forums anyway) are exceptionally picky. Perhaps the forum posters are simplky more outspoken than most
women in general on this site, I don't know. But I have been absolutely stunned by some of the stuff I've
read here.

I noticed on your profile that you are a student. Try calling the University of Manitoba's hospital or the Dental
College. I have heard (my ex-mother in law lives in Winnipeg) they have a low-cost dental clinic there. Another
possibility, is the student health office, where you attend. They might have a free /or low-cost dental clinic.

And centralvalgal is right, your teeth can adversely affect your over-all health. So you should try & take care of it.

Having a bad mouth does not make ANYONE attractive. Yah, get your teeth fixed.

Depends on what neck of the woods they live in , no literally.
I would say in most cases no, gee some won't date men with dirty fingernails or with sleep in their eyes, long nose hairs or dripping earwax, whats with that !!!.
The great thing is teeth can always be fixed or replaced ,people are stuck with their personalities ,which really bites sometimes.

Depends on what the problem is. If they're crowded or have gaps between them, no problem. A little discolored or a little chipped, still no problem. As long as they're clean and healthy, I don't understand why anyone would hold imperfection against you. If they're green or black and rotting out of your mouth, yeah, they need to be fixed.

Some of the most wonderful and handsome men I've ever known had less than perfect teeth. I even kissed a couple of them and enjoyed it very much.

The best, most beautiful smiles are those that are warm and genuine. Keep smiling...

As someone who drinks black coffee, I have no problem with teeth that are slightly discolored. Gaps are not a problem for me. On the other hand, if a man has black teeth, foul breath and lots of plaque.... I will run far, far away.

While it is true that it is a man's character and personality that will attract me more than anything else, if I can't get near enough to kiss him, what is the point of pursuing anything with him?

I have had problems with my teeth that were beyond my financial means at the time. Having a dentist who is ok with monthly payments certainly helps me in the area of dental hygiene.

If there aren't subsidized plans in your area, try to find a dentist who will accept monthly payments.

As someone else has already pointed out, the poor condition of one's teeth can be an indication of more problematic health concerns than simply a need to have a dental hygienist work on your teeth.

It depends on what the flaws are...hygeine is the most inportant thing though. You can have a full set of well shaped teeth but if they are the color of lemonade or are fuzzy forget it

It's really sad, I know many people with bad teeth that never smile, just think never smile, it feels so good to smile. I have seen animals get better treatment than people, but that' s a whole other forum...lets not go there.
once again the forum police are out....I don't see this as a troll post or pity thread....

So true. I had a BF once who NEVER smiled for pics because of his teeth. He would also not smile when in the company of people he did not know well. His teeth never bothered me because his hygeine was fine.

What?

Crocked? Spaces? I mean narrow it down. It's one thing to take care of your mouth, but skip fixing crocked bits, but it's quite another to do nothing about dirty rotting teeth.

Guess which one I'd avoid like the plague?

Bad teeth are pretty much a deal breaker...sexuality involves the mouth...bad teeth also denote someone who either cares nothing about taking care of himself or has absolutely no resources. Not good and might affect getting hired for a decent job as well, whether or not that is politically correct.

There isn't much of an excuse not to get them fixed in this day and age. I don't understand people with yellow teeth nowadays either when there are 800 different whiteners in every drugstore. Get an extra job and save the money if you don't have it.

I'm not fickled...or picky..but...but...but...bad teeth...well to be honest...pretty hard to get past..you got to look at him when you are talking... making out... kissing... I mean... kinda hard to get past flawed teeth.

as for economics I get that... I just lost my dental and medical coverage in the divorce..and it sucks. I have good teeth...but aging teeth.

there are lots of clinics about that will do dentistry work for free or small costs..look into it if you need dental care. The local community college here has a dental clinic that is affordable.

my Ex was pretty good looking btw... 6', blonde, blue-eyed.... his two top front teeth were crooked...real bad.. yellowing teeth... he never had good dental care as a child... he has good care now...he sees my dentist.... irony eh?.

Perfect teeth aren't necessary. Get 'em cleaned regularly, but cosmetically I don't think it makes a big difference.

For you, though, it may be effecting your confidence, willingness to smile and be yourself. That would be the real problem here.

Yes, they are. Well, some anyway. My teeth were stained by tetracyclene i took when i was a kid. So i am not that ignorant to think that just because someone has discolored teeth, that they dont take care of them.

I will recommend, that if you can afford to get them fixed to do so. I had extensive dental work done and it helped greatly with my self esteem. There was a time when i wouldnt open my mouth, it seems strange to me now when people comment on what a beautiful smile i have.

Plastic surgeon i think this is the one issue that everyone can actually agree on, bad teeth are just discusting male and female alike I guess this is a universal thing. NO one like rotten teeth Someone could make you sick if they have puss or gross stuff floating around in their mouth, how foul i am happy to be shallow.

I was just today staring at someone's crooked bottom teeth while they talked--you know that commercial where a guy is in a job interview and the boss can only hear the spot on the guy's shirt talking--noise blocks whatever comes out of the interviewee's mouth? Well, that'll give you an idea of the distraction level, and we aren't even talking about...kissing

Golly. Teeth, hair, clothes, car, fingernails, how you hold your eating utensils, funny noises you might make...every human being has a comfort (or discomfort) level regarding the looks, smells, sounds (sight, hearing, touch, taste, smell...our sensory stuff)--even of coworkers--and we don't have to get much closer to them than a yard or so. What I hold hands with, hug, touch--well, if I'd throw it in the wash or garbage at home, I'd probably feel like doing, y'know? Even bits of lunch--please, though, do your flossing and brushing in the privacy of a bathroom--not at the lunchroom sink or at the bistro table .

Bad teeth? More specific here please.....
I am very particular about my own dental habits, cleaning etc. Very important, and if you call that shallow well, too bad. I have met someone who had the nerve to show up with NO teeth.....top that one!
Someone who is aware and care about there dental habits, speaks volumes to me.

Hey we're talking potential kissing here!!
