As I spent 7 hours in my yard between mowing the grass and pulling weeds and getting ready to mulch everything I starting thinking how bad I hate yard work and how much I preferred just 3 short summers ago when the Ex took care of all of this and I only had to worry about keeping the inside tidy.

So what chores and household work do you dread and really wish you could abolish that your now doing on your own compared to what was shared? What chore would you easily surrender no arguments to another?

Cleaning the bathroom! I'd much rather do yard work any day.

um...cleaning the kitchen lol. And folding laundry. It is all fairly easy. But I just don't enjoy doing those things. I enjoy cutting my grass (given I don't have that much to cut, maybe an hours worth, but it's good exercise). I actually don't mind shovelling snow in the winter time either most of the time.

I used to like working out in the lawn because I could get a tan easily. Now I don't do it because my apartment's pay some landscaping crew to have it done :|

I'll give up laundry. Laundry is such a crappy chore that it gets it's own day, hence "Laundry Day". You don't hear anybody say "Gosh darnit, it's dishes day" and if they do they probably have roaches in their rice crispy box. You sick sick people.

it's sad, my sister will come over and do my dishes for me sometimes. It's just a pain in the a$s more often than not. But one of those things that needs to be done.

I don't mind doing laundry, if I had clothespins I would even take advantage of my clothesline...it's just the folding part that takes the effort and isn't any fun at all.

I don't mind yard work when the weather is nice. Granted, I've lived in an apartment for a while, so i haven't had to. But I hate doing dishes, which stinks because my apartment complex doesn't have automatic dishwashers. And I've never much liked cleaning the bathroom, either.

I'm okay with vacuuming, as it's really the vacuum doing all the work (though someday I may still get a Roomba) and I'm good about doing laundry, but not so good about actually folding the clothes and putting them away afterward.

I actually enjoy shoveling snow, cutting grass, etc.

I'm not really a handy man type of guy, so fixing things I would just call in a professional and have it done right the first time, that way I have someone to call when it breaks two days later and **** at.

I hate doing dishes, with a dishwasher it's not so bad.

Vacumming carpet is enjoyable, dusting sucks, it makes me sneeze like crazy and my hands get really dry.

Laundry is easy, so that doesn't count, folding clothes is really annoying and I never do it right, so I just keep everything in a laundry basket titled "Clean" versus "Dirty"

Above all else, I absolutely despire cooking. Having to think of something different every day or second day and going through all that preperation and basically waiting on food to cook -- which means you can't do anything else but kill time, unless you like burned food -- which I don't.

That has to be the absolute worst chore and it's made worse by the fact that it happens at least 3 times a day, 6 if you eat properly. Sucks!!!

Cleaning the bathroom also sucks, hair in the sink, toothpaste, soap scum on the shower walls, etc. Boring and the toxic smells from the cleaners makes me sick.

Vacuuming sucks.. *groan*

hate cleaning the bathroom. that's about it. I don't particularly enjoy the kitchen stuff either, but laundry or general putting stuff away is ok, and of course yard work is great.

My favourite part of cleaning up anything is throwing out all the random useless cr@p that somehow finds its way into my place.

See cleaning is major stress relief for me - I don't mind it at all - actually enjoy it - dishes, bathroom, dusting, scrubbing walls, mopping, laundry including folding. I clean my house daily it is the neat freak in me. And I love cooking, cook daily for the kids and I and not little things big meals because it is the way I was raised

But I look at the yard and just swear I HATE Yard work - I have a dandelion in my yard as tall as me - Who knew they could get that tall - and that sucker wont come out , I am gonna have to break out a hack saw soon.. I swear it is like my own personal hell on earth it is me against the weeds and those suckers are winning!

Well come on down, Nocatchyname.... I've got about 5 hours of grass cutting each time so if you're bored....

As far as laundry goes.... if you do remember to pick up some clothespegs, fold your clothes as you take them off the line... so much easier... and if you are as anal about hanging clothes on the line as I am when you hang them out, do them in groups... tops, bottoms, and I try to match up the socks as I hang them so I can put them together before I take them off the line. Omg... that is pretty neurotic, isn't it??? Oh well.... saves time for me, anyway!

The chores I really don't enjoy are weeding the gardens and raking the lawn in the spring.... but as I recall, my ex didn't do those either, so they're nothing new to me. Come to think of it, my ex didn't do much in the way of chores.

I can't resist.

I have a loathing for washing the dishes.

I'll take laundry day over washing the freakin dishes at any time!

The kitchen has the most hated chores in it for me however there are a few things that I did about it.

Dishes -> Dishwasher
Cleaning Stove -> Self cleaning stove

Kinda funny how I like cooking but hate cleaning up afterwards lol.

I thought Jim was into the mobile lawn maintenence.

I'm not very anal about hanging clothes on the line, actually I'd rather just use the dryer, but should use the line to conserve energy when I can...I'll get some pegs when I remember lol

Speaking of which, you reminded me of something...gardening. It's just not my faux-pas right yet. Eventually I will get into the mindset to do something about it...but I've pretty much given up on that idea for this year. Although, I may weed out the gardens I do have to the best of my ability at some point this summer.

Are you kidding me.....women mow the grass? (never happened in my household)

As for your question, I hate dusting.....worse chore I do and it seems like the next day it's right back again. (I live near a gravel business and the constant flow of trucks past my house brings a never ending supply of dust) I'd gladly trade lawn mowing, trimming and whatever else in exchange for someone who doesn't mind dusting!

Cool... you do the inside... I'll do the outside.
Works for me.

I'd even help with some of the indoor stuff too...

Well when you live alone with your kids (8 and 10 ) and the kids are too young to help without getting hurt, what are your options? You have to do it yourself. I have however decided I'm buying a self propelled mower this push mower is for the birds, I borrowed another neighbors self propelled today and that things ROCKS! although the appeal of turning my yard into an in-ground pool or basketball court is appealing too!

What I hate more then anything is when the neighbors landscapers stop and stare when I'm sweating my backside off and make smart mouthed comments. Apparently waving with one finger while telling them where to put that weedwacker is impolite - who knew

I absolutely hate washing the dishes. The most boring job of them all. Not that I love doing chores, And it would be great if someone else figured out how to use that giant tooth brush like thingy that sits beside the toilet.

I hate doing my lawn as well. I have about 2 acres of grass to cut, weeds to pull etc. The thing I hate the most though is doing the dishes. I dont know why, I just always hated it. I dont mind doing laundry or some cleaning, but I dread dishes. I try and use paper plates and utensils as much as possible.

I find dishes soothing actually , don't mind doing them at all , specially with all those nice girly smelling dish soaps now..... ahh peaceful.
I don't completely hate laundry although I'd love it oodles more and do it far more often if I had my own washer/dryer instead of trekking to the basement creeeepy laundry room or the laundromat!
guess I hate doing the bathrooms the most, reminds me of when I was hmm bout 14 or so my moms friend had her own cleaning company and they always made me clean ALL the bathrooms , for every house , didn't even switch it up at all . .. I think I got paid 5 bucks an hour or something............. bad times bad times.

I hate cleaning in general which is why I pay someone to do it for me. Truth be told she only comes twice a month to do my room and bathroom which are rather large. I don't mind doing the main things but the little stuff I just don't take the time to do. I tend to be cluttered back in my room so it is nice to have someone come in and straighten everything up once and a while till I can't find something I am looking for.

I don't care about doing laundry which I do once a week on Sunday or occasionally midweek. I do the dishes either nightly or every other night but for the most part they are always put in the dishwasher. I take out the trash and recycling. The rest of the house stays pretty clean since I hang out back in my bedroom more often than not.

Washing other peoples dishes, picking up peoples used tissues, cleaning up after other peoples pets. Do not mind most other things, some yard work is actually entertaining. I love the feeling of a freshly vacuumed floor and I do not have that much carpet so it is no biggie.

Anything to do with human or animal food scraps or bodily waste I am not much of a fan of though.
